½ Price: Streets Cremissimo Ice Cream 1L Varieties $6.50 (Excl. TAS, NT) @ IGA

160

I wasn’t planning on posting a review, but wow – Streets Creamissimo Pistachio Swirl with Crushed Biscuit ice cream is extremely moreish!

The Pistachio Swirl is so creamy with a deliciously rich nutty flavour, and the Buscuit flavour is the perfect balance of sweet and indulgent. Every bite has me reaching for more, and before you know it, you’re halfway through the tub. It’s the kind of ice cream that you just can't stop eating! If you're looking for a seriously satisfying treat, this is it.

It’s $6.50 at my local IGA Brisbane (4000), but I noticed that IGA’s in Melbourne (3000) are selling it for $7.15.

Seriously, just buy the pistachio flavour. I'm thanking myself that I did!

Haven’t even tried the others yet. I'd definitely pay the full $14 when it’s not on special, so this is an absolute bargain. Also, grab some of those shitty ice cream cones from the jelly aisle on the way out – they’re a great combo! If you're feeling a bit more pretentious, the waffle cones are perfect for the ultimate treat.

It's absolutely insane!

  • With everything happening in the Middle East, you're going to wish you tried this ice cream before a potential pistachio shortage reaches our shores…

    • Dont worry about the Middle East, there are pistachos growing in Australia, so it will be fine.

Tried thos brand of ice cream yesterday, was also $6.50 at local store, its good. Had the chocolate one, and it may resemble Magnum.

      • Yeah wow hectic! Honestly, I thought pistachios were some super exotic luxury nuts u get from the Middle East after trying that $25 Lindt Pistachio Kunafa. When I saw a tub of this for $6.50, I seriously thought it was some kind of pricing mistake, surely? Like, am I about to get the deal of a lifetime or am I being scammed… 😆

It's probably not much of a deal I suppose if we are growing them. Coming to think of it, don't they sell big bags at Woolies for $10 bucks aye? They done a good number on me ROFL…

The expected end of Dubai chocolate fad will leave more pistachios for us, the real pistachio connoisseurs.

And it will be even better, once the unfortunate trend of putting Pistachio Papi (the worst of spreads) into everything ends.

Iran does produce lots of pistachios, but the best ones are those from Türkiye, and most are coming from the USA.

Streets back to making ice cream not frozen desserts

Have you tried the Connoisseur or Bulla ones for comparison?

    • +1

      100%.

I have only tried the Pistachio flavour so far.

I would say the consistency is in-between Connoisseur and Bulla. Not a big fan of the thickness/roughness/creaminess of Bulla ice cream. I prefer the smoother Connoisseur/Sara Lee type variety of icecream, its alot more dense, smoother and flavourful. Bulla lacks flavour, or is too airy, or the creamyness is off. Id prob do Peters tubs > Bulla if I was going for cheap tubs, but this, IMHO, belongs in the category with Connoisseur and Sara Lee.

Price is exceptional @ $6.50, they might not do that again soon, could be an 'introductory offer' I feel… Connoisseur and Sara Lee are on spesh every second week so we'll see I guess?…

So yeah, this is somewhere in-between, not too heavy/dense, not too light, but the flavour is extremely indulgent and oh so moreish.

'Wish I had of got 2 tubs at the time' sort of 'ish…

      • Thanks! I find the Connoisseur one super creamy, esp in comparison to their other flavours. I didn't like the Bulla one but that's because I don't like raspberry.
I'll give this one a go. Might get a vanilla too and see how it stacks up against Connoisseur.

        • I tried the chocolate one this time round and it was pretty good as well. I prefer the Pistachio TBH, everyone does a vanilla and chocolate, the Pistachio is really next level though. The chocolate flavour is very comparable to Connoisseur I suppose, its sort of like chocolate mousse in flavour. Will try the vanilla one next time!

@ozsb: Have you tried any of the Aldi Kapiti ice cream varieties?
Better ingredients eg. Cream verses dehydrated skim milk powder etc) and 12% milk fat minimum compared to 10% in the Cremissimo.

The Vanilla and the Triple Choc are both very very good. Love to hear your reviews :)

            • @JayParker: Thanks for the recommendation! I if I get down to good, different i will pick up some of the mighty fine!

Somehow I don't trust the streets brand anymore.
The is no information on the streets website and no ingredients list either on the advertising.

    • +1

Yeah.. Couldn't find the ingredients anywhere online.

I saw these in IGA a couple of days ago, was attracted to the 1/2 price ticket, then I recognised the little heart shaped swirl and didn't bother.

Hey @ozsb can you post a pic of the ingredients and nutritional info from the tubs?

      • Sorry for the late response! This is the best I could do. Sorry bout the condition of the tubs, they dont really hold up well after a couple days.

The Vanilla mixed with Creme Anglaise (Custard) is remarkable. The chocolate is nice. My preference would probably be 1) Pistachio, tied close with 2) Vanilla and then chocolate.

Thanks OP, been wanting to try this since last week but only manage to go today. Really creamy, but I found the pistachio taste lacking
