  • It says it in the picture you sent

'If you cancel or move to a lower cost/different plan then you must pay a Voucher Repayment Fee to Telstra pro-rated against the remaining months of your plan's minimum term.'

    • +10

No no. Here we go again with the same comment every time lol

You only pay back the ETC that’s stipulated in the un-upsize deal (ie only upto $1100 pro rata). The other discount is provided by JB and Telstra ($500)

      • Apologies for the dumb question, but where do you see the $1100? I understand the 23/24 pro-rated repayment if I cancel within one month. But I'll be in bit of trouble if the voucher was the price of the phone itself.

When I go to this page: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/pages/upfront-mobile-plans, it says it's $1000 voucher, not $1100.

        • +1

If you scroll down and click through the Critical Information Summary on the $99 plan from JB website, it’ll redirect you to Telstra page which says these:

$800 base voucher (always offered as part of plan) and up to $300 bonus voucher (only offered during select promotional windows)

Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee: Up to $1,100

Tempting….. But now that Motorolla have confirmed their partnership with Graphene, a lot of the reason I personally folowed the pixels is gone.

    • Oh thats nice to know. I wish Samsung did it too.

    • +2

I would love to use GrapheneOS if Google Pay worked with it. As it is a Google restriction I would assume Google Pay still won't work with Motorolla Graphene phones.

      • What aspects of google play do you think dont work with graphene?

        • +1

Google Pay, not Play. You can't do Google Pay payments with Graphene as it fails Google security checks due to modifications Graphene has made to the OS.

          • @Aureus: Yea fe fe, cant debate that
Hopefully they can come up with the a solution now they have a partnership with Moto
Its still a really good OS to use. You still have the option of CCs and cash

      • Ive not had a need. My bank still gives a card to use.

GooglePay always uses the debit flow too, which has higher fees than a chip insert and selecting the eftpos option.

Bank doesnt need more of my money in fees, thanks.

        • What bank charges transaction fees? I haven't seen them in years.

          • @Aguynamedlance: You mean what PoS provider (I wasnt clear either, when I said bank, I meant the retailers bank), and…. Most of them.

Theres often a 10c or 1% surcharge on paywave.

Most big chains absorb it (except aldi) but if you eat at say, a small sushi place or coffee shops you'll see it regularly.

        • I just find it easier to use my phone. I also get gift cards that can only be used with Google Pay. Aldi is also the only place I shop at occasionally that charges less fees for chip insert and I do have a card for those times.

Read this is a very slow phone

    • +1

Remembered, mr who is the boss reviews from this week

    • Slow doing what?

  • How does the $400 off work when it's $0? If it comes back as a giftcard to be used on something else that's a pretty good deal.

    • Yes, make sure they use the coupon first then apply the gift card and they return the gift card to you.

Most staff at JB HI FI don't know how to do their job, not sure why. Not even the managers know what they are doing

      • +1

Mind explaining how to get the difference in gift card? the outright price of the phone is $1597.

      • I'm also interested in how to get the 400 dollar gift card if you're taking up the $0 device offer - I am guessing this only be done in store?

      • For those following this thread, I can confirm you can do this. I just got the phone yesterday for $0 and left with a $400 gift card to use some other time.

The sales person knew what to do once I showed him that it was a coupon code for 400 dollars, not a gift card. He added the coupon code when creating the gift card for 1597, the value of the gift card increased to 1997, so when we used it to pay for the phone there was still 400 dollars left.

This makes this deal exponentially better, prob one of the best of the past few months.

One small note is that the invoice value to claim back the GST was somehow decreased by the 400 dollars so it's only 1197, so the GST refund will be 50 dollars less.

        • I tried this deal again today but no luck with the $400 GC as they said the promotion is no conjuction. Which store did you go to?

          • @haidang312: Oh nevermind :( just found out they added the trade-in coupon to their 'no conjunction' policy now :( damnn I missed the deal

            • @haidang312: Oh that sucks! I went to the Broadway shopping centre store

I doubt they specifically closed the loophole in the past 4 weeks - I think it's more likely that the no stacking was always there, and the staff member just didn't care - it's definitely a bit of luck of the draw

    • Don't think they can be stacked

      • So you cannot get the $0 phone on the plan and the trade in with $400 bonus

      Today was finally my day.
      There's a deal there somewhere
It's been so long I don't remember what the H actually stands for.

      • -2

Ha ha, personally I would have waited 06/12/2026 and made a huge announcement. Shame you folded so close :p

      • Hook-up 😂

    • +2

How can you be a member since 2016 and still be a L-plate?

What, did you think this follows the real licence system? Of which state, exactly? The state of insanity?

      • -7

Lol, I've got news for you, it actually does
        But because I'm a good sport, I won't neg you :p

  • What does this end up costing if you cancel after 1 month?

    • +1

      Not sure if it’s $1100 or $1000 as the ETC but if it’s the latter, you’d pay ($1000/24)x23 + 99 = $1,057.33

      • +1

Its $1,000. Just cancelled my plan for S26U and ETC is $958 i.e. $1,000/24*23.

    • +1

      Exactly what Bargains said.

Also don't cancel AFTER 1 month. Cancel at the end of the first month as you've already paid for it and you don't want to be charged another $99.

      • I cancelled 5 days after it's on and got lucky. They refunded the first month

        • How? I tried calling at different times and was told first payment can’t be refunded. Can you pls share how your conversation went?

          • +1

@ChatSeek: This was from 5 months ago (October). I used chat function on the jb mobile to chat with the reps on 2 separate times (different days, but all within 1 week).
First time to cancel the subscription.
Second time to ask for a refund for that 1st month.

Note that some users here also successfully get that 1st month refunded, but not everyone.

          • +1

@ChatSeek: JB HiFi Mobile is offered by Telstra. You can message Telstra directly via chatbox and it is a lot easier to have 1st month refund (as Telstra might not know the deal offered by JB).

  • Im going OS soon, how can this work for me with getting GST back if Im paying $0. Is the answer it doesnt work? Do they give you a receipt of any kind that could be used against the phone value for this?

    • -5

Let's scam the system. Pathetic to want gst back on $0 sale

      • If you want to donate extra money to them be my guest… Im paying for a plan btw….

      • I agree with you, the government is not doing enough to ensure everyone pay their tax on their $0 items

        • yeah…you pay tax on the plan… even if you cancel… Its not a $0 item

          • @pointnlarf: Why would you get a GST refund for the plan? Are you taking the plan OS?

    • +1

You get an invoice with the actual price of the handset, which, after the sale, is $1597 or something like that.

      • thank you… good news…

  • +5

Feel like comparing to current S26 ultra deal, this Pixel10 pro XL should be on $69 plan with $0 out of pocket to be a good deal

    • You r r8

    • And bring back the 12 month plans to make it even sweeter.

  • Minimum Phone & Plan Cost $2376 over 24 months

My current plan costs me $480 over 24 months, so getting this deal would end up costing me $1896 for the phone? Pretty sure it’s been cheaper than that.

  • There's also a seperate deal which is$400 voucher on trade in available if that's your style .

Does anyone know if the trade-in deal works with smart watches or tablets, etc.?
