Bulova Racer Chronograph 98B428 $299 Delivered ($25 off First Order Sign-up) @ WatchDepot

120

Looks to be price matching ice jewellery- it works out $5 cheaper via WD as Ice jewellery offers $20 off when using the newsletter code (Watch depot offers $25). Looks to be a fun piece. Spotted via Alex’s post on AAWF.

Inspired by Bulova’s rich motorsport heritage, the men’s Racer chronograph is engineered for performance and style. The contoured black IP stainless steel case echoes the aerodynamic lines of high-speed race cars, while the two-tone orange and black tachymeter ring and bold pushers enhance its sporty appeal.

The black 5-hand chronograph dial features a racing-inspired orange and white chapter ring, black sub dials for chronograph minutes and 24-hour time, and a date window at 6 o’clock. A vivid orange chronograph seconds hand and super-luminous markers and hands ensure visibility at any speed.

Finished with a perforated black leather racing strap and pin buckle closure, the Bulova Racer is a dynamic blend of function and style—perfect for the track or everyday wear.

What's the point of 24 hours time? And does it show normal seconds at all? It looks like it just does the chronograph seconds, very odd

      its a joke 'fashion' chrono

the 12hr dial is effectively an am.pm indicatior

i assume the main second hand turns into a chrono counter when activated

      • You mean the usual 24h subdial that most people say is useless is only good for indicating am pm.

Anything else would be more expensive in an automatic I assume.

    • Military time. I've seen hospitals use it.

  • That strap looks very 'genuine' leather

This would be a cracker if it contained Bulova's in-house high frequency movement

not sure if that 262khz whatever is available as a chrono

        • I wonder if there's much internal difference between the 43.5mm and 42mm in the two cases.

  • I like the blue one…

That one would look good on you.

    $300 for quartz movement?

    • -1

      Keeps better time btw, iykyk.
Would be better if it had the precisionist movement.
Automatic chronographs usually cost over 1k.
      Maybe read the comments.

Read the comments, but still not a fan od Quartz movement and battery changes.

        • -1

          Sure and that's your prerogative.
Would you service an auto or just chuck it after a while?

          • -1

@G-Shock: Never needed to service an automatic or Eco drive. Quartz are dime a dozen. I would rather have Swatch moon phase if I really had to opt for a quartz

            • -1

@aparasher: Yeah not saying you have to like it but once you've been collect or trying different watches for a while you realise that autos aren't automatically better. You wouldn't bother servicing a cheapie but you should be for Swiss watches after 6-10y. There are different quartz movements too. Some solar, some high accuracy like +/-5s per year, better than any automatic.

Now you've mentioned Swatch moon phase it confirms you know nothing haha.

It's a bit of a journey learning about them.

              • @G-Shock: Well… we now know who knows what!!!

Let's move on… you what happens when you assume without knowing facts.

                • -1

@aparasher: There wasn't much context but agree never mind that. You should buy a moon swatch, it's the worst choice of all. Haha

                  • -2

@G-Shock: Read my comment before answering. I said, "I don't buy Quartz watches and would prefer to buy what I want if I really had to". Your myopic view is restricting comprehension.

                    Hahaha

                    • -1

@aparasher: Buy whatever you want. Your original statement sounded naive without any context, then you talk about moon swatches 😂.

  • Looks ok but my three year old $80 Addisdive refuses to die

  • +1

It doesn't say in the WD listing, but Bulova's website lists it has having sapphire crystal.

It also comes in a spiffy presentation box, if that gets your motor running.

    • +1

Presentation boxes should be made more common like come on , what could it cost the factory? 3-5 usd?

      Boosts resale
Give initial customer the wow factor
      Cool to display

      • Yeah those citizen scuba tank boxes are cool.

        This watch looks pretty big.
