  • Thats a great little deal! Lots of games are better online with friends, and you get a bunch of games and virtual console stuff with it.

Nice, perfect for those who bought pokopia from target deal

It’s good but unnecessary long winded.

Offer should be on the spot from the merchant you purchase from.
This would also remove abuse of the offer from some scums.

Another one of Nintendo ‘Let’s Jump Long Winded Hoops to Claim’ game! 🏆

    • Many companies do this, it's nothing new. The retailer doesn't provide the bonus, the manufacturer does so you have to claim it from them.

In one way it's easier for Nintendo to provide it once you've registered online instead of having to send out a physical card or something with a code to all the retailers to give to customers at purchase.

Takes 2 mins LOL how entitled must one be?

  • Literally just bought that exact bundle on Thursday so I could play Pokopia, and paid for the 12 months. Oh well.

  • +10

Nice if you were going to buy one now anyway.

But I can't help but notice Nintendo is again tying themselves in knots to do literally anything except bring down the price of the Switch 2 to something more reasonable.

I miss old Nintendo from decades past with their console discounts, Player's Choice, Nintendo Selects, that allowed poor families to enjoy Mario and Zelda once the main launch period passed and they didn't pretend it wasn't profitable to then lower the price.

    • Even if they wanted to, RAM shortage now is not gonna allow this for at least a few more years.
In fact, it may increase the price of the Switch 2 in a few months.

    • 100%
Furious that Greedtendo got rid of Player's Choice/ Nintendo Selects, no excuses to get rid of that other than greed, haven't given this greedy corp a single cent in over a year now!! They only have themselves to blame!
If anyone really want a switch 2 then you should hold off for the inevitable oled version. Something they should have done from the launch but nope cause greedy ninty at it a always…

Seems not having an OLED screen is more a case of keeping the price down seeing a high refresh rate OLED screen would have added to the cost. We can't have it cheap and also pack in all the latest tech so they obviously choose to go with a cheaper price. Seems like a bit of a back step on the surface but at least it's a bigger screen, better resolution and a higher refresh rate than the Switch OLED.

Getting rid of Player's Choice/Nintendo Selects is definitely a downer though.

If you already have purchased the Switch 2?

    • +5

Then I guess you buy 12 Months of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack Individual Membership separately.

    • +1

Early adopters always get screwed, sadly.

  • I wonder if they accept photoshopped receipts since it's a promo lol

    • 😂 i just had the same thought… 🤔

      • +1

Not worth putting your account and switch 2 at risk. You save less than $14 (by joining a family group).

        • +1

Use a throwaway email and send it… i assume theyll give you a code and that's the end of that

          • @sirstiv: But when you claim the free NSO it will be linked to your account. I'm not saying nintendo will dig, but it's just a big risk low reward to try to cheat the system. Like I said, you are trying to get $14 free while risking your account and switch 2 banned

            • +2

@azngamer: We just need to decypher if it's just visual proof with no verification or not.

I doubt they have access to retailer servers to confirm etc.

P.S i dont want to join a family group 😜

              • @sirstiv: Has anyone confirmed yet whether it's visual proof and/or if there's any verification? Bought mine on Saturday because I'm impatient 😅

        • Or being charged with imposition

  • Just bought last month 😭

  • +1

You can join a family plan and it works out to be not much per person per year.

    • +2

      Not cheaper than free…

  • +1

It's says only from participating retailers? Which are ? How do you know which one are they ?

  • +1

I'll never pay Nintendo to access online services. They can bundle all the free emulators they want.

  • +4

Price hike is crazy on HN and good guys was $708 2 days ago. Now can't match with OW.

Anyone got a good price match for the bundle?

    • Cheapest I found is $681

      • Where?

Seeing this promo is now running it's not surprising there are no decent discounts as this is extra value on top of your purchase. Wonder if anywhere will do a decent discount during the promotional period.

        • ebay thegamesmen with some 10% coupon code, it was on the page listing the code, I couldnt see the code on ozb though so maybe it's on my account only?

I ended up getting it for $647. I tried my lucky with OW and price matched it, and provided the code to them to try, said it was a bricks and mortar store as well that seller.

          • @squaredonut: Good deal. Must have been a targeted discount though.

    • Its not greatt but if you already had EB Plus for some reason you can get the MK combo switch 2 for $770 and then it comes with either DK bananza or super mario galaxy for free, which is like $80-$90 in it’s own right.

So if you were planning to buy either of those games seperately anyway, it’s an okay deal

  • Can you use this code then somehow pay the difference and upgrade to a family plan?

  • Anyone buy on the 10th and get their code yet? I bought yesterday- hoping it comes by the weekend.

    • Got it just before.

      • +1

When you submitted the form on their website with your invoice did you get any confirmation via email or text? I got nothing and I am about one business day in and have not received anything yet. Wondering if I did something incorrect.

        • +1

          Nah no confirmation.

          • @theguyrules: Thanks! Now I wait. Hopefully comes in today before the weekend.

            • @Random1250: Mine came just after lunch. Close to 24 hours after submitting

              • @theguyrules: Ah, I see. I submitted mine late night on Tuesday, definitely been over 24 hours now.

                • +2

@Random1250: Ah bugger. Still - by the weekend should be fine.

                  • +1

@theguyrules: Finally got it right now. Putting it here in case someone else is in a similar boat. Took almost 3 days.

                    • @Random1250: Hi
I got a text saying I was approved but there was no redemption code - did this come as a seperate text?

                      • @niren1706: No, should be the same text. Maybe the intern is typing them up individually and forgot your code.

                        Hi Joe Bloggs,

Your Nintendo redemption claim is approved! Code: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Anyone bought this from Dick Smith ebay store? They advertised on their listing that it comes with the 1 year Switch online, but I can't see them in the participating store list.

    • +1

They are owned by Kogan who are on the list so I'd assume they count. If they are advertising it then it should be fine but maybe flick them a message to confirm.

    • +1

Did you end up proceeding? The kogan listing is here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/177205786416 with eBayPlus brings it down to roughly ~710. Not sure if I should wait for any other bargains…

      • +1

DigiDirect currently have it for $728.65. I did a price beat at Officeworks last week so paid $692.22 (I called up and they did it with no problem
        ).

Seems to be the cheapest price around at the moment.

        • That's actually pretty decent, combined with this offer - thank you! I'll wait and see if there's anything with Afterpay day sales; otherwise might just bight the bullet.

    • Yes I bought this on 18/3 from dicksmith ebay and used the10% off code at the time (code no longer works). The nintendo online doesn't come in the delivery or email, you have to go to https://www.nintendo.com/au/nintendo-switch-2-bonus-offer/ and fill a form with your purchase details etc to get it. The ebay page doesn't tell you how to claim it

It took me a couple of days to work this out because I asked the seller on ebay about it and they were not helpful at all, I found this out myself. I am still waiting for Nintendo to verify my purchase and send me my nintendo online.

  • Im currently on a family plan (not the organizer). If i redeem the code, will it stack on top of my current subscription?

    • +1

I’m quite certain it does not stack on top of a family plan. You would have to exit the family plan and get on the individual membership + expansion plan after redeeming this code, otherwise you might be wasting the code and/or your spot in the family plan. I’m pretty sure the code is also valid for 3 years so you can probably keep it around for later.

  • Would have brought it if the bloody switch 2 was oled….
