  • 180hz a little low for an oled but still a great deal

    • +1

It's cheaper than my 165HZ IPS monitor I bought awhile back, crazy!

      • +2

How long ago was a while back? 5 years ago? Lol

        • +2

          1995

        • To be fair, the monitor was 32" and not exactly a bargain

      • +1

We see sub $200 QHD IPS 144hz+ monitors pretty regularly now!

Just bought a Samsung Odyssey G8 today :)

    • Will you be using for work?

      • +1

If you're worried about text fringing, I'd advice you checking it out in person, but his one at 4K is going to be better than 27" 1440p (which I personally don't have an issue with regardless). If you're worried about burn in, unless you're doing something where the same thing is on the screen all day, then i wouldn't worry too much.

        • I think his meaning is you are 100% using it for work related purpose ;)

          • @EWing1389: Yeah this is what I was really asking but I appreciate the extra information. I'm looking for a monitor for mainly MS office type work, PDF's web browsing and research. I would be looking at a double monitor setup

            • +1

@Ozb101: I use mine for work, but I run a triple monitor set up, where the other 2 screens keep static things like Email, spreadsheet etc on, and the main screen for my OLED rotates different things I'm focused on at the time, nothing really stays on the screen static for more than maybe 5 - 10 minutes at a time (roughly). Been doing it for about 2 years.

  • DP 1.2 input so need DSC to hit 180Hz. :(

    • +2

Apparently supports 180 with newest firmware update and can also use 10 bit colour.

Bought this a couple of days ago, hope i made the better choice. GIGABYTE MO27Q2 27" QHD QD-OLED 240Hz $489.30

    • -3

You can return the Giga within 30 days, seller pays postage.

I've been using Samsung TVs, monitors, phones, never had issues. Never used Giga monitor, only their GPUs.

    • +5

Samsung makes the panel for that Gigabyte monitor, they should be near identical really. Gigabyte has a better refresh rate so probably still a good buy.

      • $58 cheaper on Samsung, OzB law dictates any savings is worth pursuing, even 23c is highly upvoted: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949339

        • +1

Hard to compare savings when they're different specs, some may want > 180hz making this not worth it.

    • I don't buy monitors very often so I'd be looking to get the higher refresh rate of yours so that it'd work longer with PC upgrades. I'm currently looking to upgrade my 27" 165Hz IPS Predator, and 180Hz OLED isn't enough of a jump for me.

Dang that was a great deal for the Gigabyte, too bad it's sold out at that price.

    • +1

Gigabyte has better specs, hence better buy.

  • Is it possible to price match in store at jb?

    • They dont do price match against educational store unless you go through jb hifi educational website which was too much of a hassle. Thanks OP, i purchased it.

  • +1

Get the Gigabyte. Has higher refresh rate and a better stand. The Samsung logo also increases the bottom bezel size.

    • +2

there's no samsung logo on the bezel, its the gigabyte one has logo on the bezel.

also The Samsung one is matte, the Giga is gloss.

  • How do you get the loyalty discount?

    • Being loyal to Samsung for many years

      • Been using Samsung phones for almost 10 years :)

        • looks like this one less glary and glossy than the Giga.

  • I had a samsung monitor before and the menu system was so annoying. You had to use the remote to switch to pc mode as it defaults to TV mode all the time. Has that changed?

  • Cheers, just ordered!

Also grabbed a 5% new customer discount. With $15 shipping, came to $470.43 all up.

  • I just bought G55c curved, is this monitor has much better quality and colour compare to G55C 32" ?

  • +1

Add a couple of accessories to stack with Amex offer

    • +3

      • Amex offer: Spend $500, get $100 back

The savings can add up nicely! Thanks OP

      • have you got yours? mine is arriving today.

  • getting an error when i'm trying to add it to cart. could be OOS

edit: Add to cart button is now "Get stock alert". Rip

    • Setup the alert. I'll cancel my 1st order (2 monitors) on Monday as I forgot to add the birthday gift code.

      • how to get bday code?

        • born in March 😅

          • @TooSlowAgain: To be exact 9th of March.

            • @RTX9090Ti: if you have signed up for a Samsung account and added your birthday, you should receive the code in your email. Check spam box.

    • can I have your vouchers please? its back in stock can still place an order thanks mate.

max brightness of 200 nits lmao wtf is this

    • That's SDR, likely 600ish with hdr

      • Yeah I don’t think that’s bright enough. Most OLEDs being released today are 230-330 nits. As for hdr brightness there’s no guarantee of 600 nits without testing. Theres monitors that have had 260 nits sdr that could only do 450 nits in 10% window or 130-170 nits full screen white hdr.

Theres no hdr 1000 or true black 400 mode on this monitor and they dont advertise it with HDR400 which is probably telling.

Tbh I think a mini led monitor like Aoc q27g40xmn would probably deliver a much better experience. OLED monitors are too gimped compared to OLED tvs, especially this 200 nit model.
When you factor in the fact that ambient light raises QD OLED blacks, mini LED would actually probably have better blacks too

      • shows up as 400nits on mine. I set it at 75% brightness otherwise is like floodlight on your face.
