Hi OzBargain,

I’m one of the people involved with Mixed Rice King in Glen Waverley, and I wanted to share a meal pack service we’ve been running.

The idea is to offer a simple weekly meal option without needing to choose individual dishes each day.

Each meal pack contains 4 containers:

• 2 × 500ml protein dishes
• 1 × 500ml vegetable / tofu / egg dish
• 1 × 500ml rice

The dishes change daily depending on what the kitchen cooks that day.

Many customers find that one pack is enough for two meals (for example dinner and next day lunch), which works out to around $9 per meal.

Of course appetites vary, so this will depend on how much you normally eat.

The deal price is:

$18 per pack when ordering 5 packs for the week
($90 total for the week)

Delivery is $5 flat, per day.

        Can you please add the ability to choose meals? I have no idea what meals are even available in the mix and if it depends on what day. I am sick of receiving chicken wings etc. It's a lot of money to gamble on food that is unknown.

          the idea of catering is to cook food in bulk. you dont see other catering services charging as low as $18 for 3 dishes and a box of rice.

    Pretty good. Sydney used to have one and closed down. This so cheaper than what it cost for us to buy stuff and person that comes to cook.

        The personal cooking for us is a cook (someone that can cook), very different from a chef. Probably a bit better (and healthier) than mass produced meals, but also cost twice as more.

        Definitely a deal when the food is cooked and delivered for ones that are time poor.

      yes mots of our customers use a cold box. but you will get an email notification upon delivery. and itl roughly be similar time everyday

    Looks like a Malaysian restaurant from the Google reviews and the first review that comes up from a customer who bought one of these packs for $30 basically said you delete anything that dont paint you in a favourable light on facebook

    Hi OP, as a self-proclaimed “Glenny Hanger” back in the day, where I’d spend lunch to dinner at Mocha Jo’s, and would end up at China Bar to 4am to study (and never be kicked out, mind you) - I’d like to also be considered for this offer.

    Unfortunately the distance and heavy traffic down Kingsway is what keeps me away these days. I missed being able to park my Honda Civic there for hours on end… before high rises and the centre upgrades.

    Please extend your delivery to 3136 and I’d be willing to pay double the delivery cost. Please and thank you - for the succulent Chinese meals.

    I know many of you get excited and I do like to support local small businesses however I have had a few occassions at Mixed Rice King storefront in Glen Waverley (now they have closed down) and there is a reason for that. I really hope you improve and be successful this time by focusing delivery order. All the best.

    EVERYONE PLEASE AVOID

    I ordered via their website and had terrible experience

    Today’s tofu tasted absolutely terrible and had no flavor at all. The pork yesterday also had a strong unpleasant smell.

    But even putting that aside. On your website you clearly advertised the set as 2 protein dishes + 1 vegetarian dish, yet today what I received had only the fish as a protein dish - the rest are all vege.

    If you can’t make good dish at least be honest? You are ruining chinese foods reputation.
