Lots of similar models for similar prices - I’m out of the loop on these things in general but all of the posts here are saying I need one.

Thinking it’ll be good to clean my pc, blow coffee grinds out from fiddle corners and clean my keyboard, can anyone give some advice on which to buy?

    • +7

I think if we can figure out what the number means and what D vs M means we’ll be on the home straight.

First though I need a reason to buy one. Why do I already want one?

      • +3

D is for black shell while M is for silver shell, it seems only applied to F100 & F200 series.

        • I think I worked it out.

D for Dark, and M for Metal

          • +1

@chillipaste: I am sorry to break this to you but…

D is for (Not) Dark, and M is for (Not) Metal

      • +1

and what D vs M means we’ll be on the home straight.

You'll find in my posts and Hipho's as well that the difference is explained. It's the colour 😉

Frustrating they had to change model names for it.

    • The DF100/MF100 is perfect for that! I even use it to blow dust off my driveway. :)

      • That’s pretty damn powerful. I am tired of sweeping out the garage

    • -4

can anyone give some advice on which to buy?

No, not ‘anyone’, but I’m sure some people here can.

      • +4

your right jv, ill make shore to youse correct sintax

    • +2

They're pretty powerful but just be aware they won't remove microdust.

Check out the project farm video on YouTube.

      • At the risk of sounding a bit stupid, could you explain what you mean by microdust, please? Do you just mean normal 'dust' as settles on indoor (furniture & ornaments) surfaces, tv screens and lego, that resists normal oral blowing?

And how powerful (in usage terms) are the D/MF50 and 60?

        • +1

All good. By microdust I mean the small and finer dust. It gets stuck to things and needs physical wiping to remove. I think some of it is attracted by static electricity and maybe some moisture too.

    • exact same use case - need some guidance on which to get

    • exactly the same position i'm in for needs. Leaning towards the MF60

    • fiddle corners

      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • I find the 50 strong enough for everything I use it for but there's lots of fans of 100 or 200 for those who can never get enough powweeerrr!

  • Trying to work out what if there's any difference between DF and MF200's

    • Colour. Gray vs black.

  • +2

can't believe they haven't release a mini vacuum yet

    • …suck your ear wax out.

    • In theory easy to design.. but maybe it will damage the motor..

You'd just put the attachment on the air intake technically..

I used it backwards the other day(just holding it by hand) to vacuum air out of a mattress

    • -1

Yo @jlwjlg check this out from Ali Express "7500mAh Portable Compressed Air Duster Multi Air Blower & Vacuum Cleaner Cordless Duster Blower for Keyboard Computer Cleaning"

      Link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006860905179.html

Not trying to endorse this product, so before reading below, the biggest flaw are the buttons and the power bank charging function only works through the USB-A port, the USB-C port is only to charge the air duster. I carry it around in a box with other stuff and find the light randomly on or hear the thing blowing air out. It's more of a situational/personal problem, but it's happened enough times for me to be frustrated since the light would be on without me knowing and then going to use it the next day with 0% battery. Also, light placement is stupid because it's going to be obstructed when use it. Solution to that is holding at the bottom with 2 fingers wrapped around or hold it like how them posh English women hold their tea cups - just don't put the pinkie finger up and no-one's going to roast you.

I bought this a year ago for air dusting my PC, and just corners of the floor in the when vacuuming with an actual vacuum cleaner and it works great. Legit has a bunch of utility built into it other than just air dusting but I only sent this because of you talking about the vacuuming aspect since this thing has a whole attachment for it. The only downside is that you need to empty it out frequently after use but also since it's picking up fine particles, they get stuck in the filter that's provided with the part. If there was a foam layer to catch some of that it would've been better but I don't know much about how much that would affect the suction power. Good thing is, you can just use a detachable vacuum to quickly clear it. Then the good thing is that you have a air duster, so can can just air dust any bits that didn't get cleaned out properly.

Few other good things about it.

      • Power bank (Con listed above, you get shit charging speeds)
      • Light (3 modes: White static/ White Flashing/ SOS pattern)
      • 3 Power Levels

Not an advertisement, but I just think for the price and functionality (since vacuuming was talked about) it's good. Just don't know how power level on this compares to what this post had.

    • A brush attachment might be handy too.

  • +2

I have the 50, by god I initially bought it for cleaning the PC, but turned into a campfire cheat code. Such a great device so handy.

  • +1

I'm trying to check out the 200 but it won't accept the coupon upon checkout. Any others have better luck than myself?

    • +1

Make sure you don't have an extra space at the end of the code. eBay isn't good with trimming text.

    • Just worked for me

  • +1

It has the auto discount of -$24 then after I put in the code it says 'This code can't be applied to your order.'

I trimmed any spaces after the code =|

Holy cow the youtube reviews on these are terrible, just wave them around don’t actually say which model they’re testing, incoherent recommendations.

One guy does a good review of a whole bunch and recommends “the wolfbox” over practically all the others - I think it’s an MF200. Otherwise “the X7” which seems to be more of a platform than an actual brand or model.

60 seems like a replacement for the 50 but made from the 100 design. Whether it’s performance is closer to 50 or 100 - depends who you believe.

Specs are completely different wherever you look.

    • They're paid to say the product is good with an affiliate link attached. Not actually review the product. Too many reviewers have been more blatantly bought out these days sadly.

  • +1

I bought the MF200 and it's good. Keep in mind that the attachments are not the same across all the models. For eg, I didn't get the inflator mouth piece that is included with 50/60/100 models. When I asked about it, the support team mentioned :"this device is unable to generate additional pressure and may not be suitable for use with pump nozzles."

    • Ah didnt realise that it was missing in the 200 series, probably more airflow optimised fan vs pressure optimised.

EDIT: 100 is 45m/s airspeed and 200 is 87.5m/s air speed, hence less pressure on the 200.

      • The speed would depend on the nozzle size.

        • +1

The speed would change due to the nozzle size, but it depends on the motor.

          • @Big L:

change due to the nozzle size

That's pretty much what I said

    • Which is the best one to get if you want the pump nozzle for inflating things? DF60 or DF100?

  • wonder how the battery on these are long term if left not being use.

    • +1

If you don't care about the size get a tool brand blower instead?
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-workshop-blower-an…

    • What is long term? 5 years? 10 years? Depending on quality of the cells they should hold at least 60-95% of charge after 10 years if they are very new cells. I purchased some datecode 5 yr old stock new Murata/Sony VTC6s 18650 and they perform just fine with slightly higher internal resistance.

There's also many factors that determine this number. For example how many charge cycles has the battery been through, the charge level when the devices was put in storage, also storage temperature these all determine the rate of cell deterioration.

Store all your lithium packs at 60% charge and somewhere cool like a wine cellar. Always warm up the device to 20c+ degrees before charging or use.

  • +1

Have the MF50, it's great. If you have a 3d printer you can make custom nozzles and a case / stand for it too.

  • +1

Anyone compared these to a wired version? I have one of these and it works great but is always annoying having to plug it into the power point- https://www.amazon.com.au/Dusters-CompuCleaner-Original-Elec…

    • +1

Yeah I have a Compucleaner Xpert and an MF200. The wired one is noticeably more powerful, too powerful if you are trying to be delicate. The MF200 is also powerful but certainly not moving the same amount of air. Easier to control with 3 speeds and more convenient to use though. I think I will use the MF200 most of the time now and get the Compucleaner out for "spring clean" kind of events.

    • +1

I ended up buying the Datavac MD500, works great and I won't have to worry about battery going dead in 5-10 years

  • Which one is the best value?

    • DF100. $66 on Aliexpress with $7 coupon plus 11% cashback through Topshopback UK. Comes in at around $60 if cashback tracks which it did for me. And it's shipped from locally so no tax.

      • Just ordered one DF100 from this eBay site, still not 100% convinced how useful is it to clean my PC and objects sitting on the shelves. I wonder if it is just another one of those "gadget of the moment that everyone must buy" like those massage guns.

        • They get rid of most of the dust but that stuff that's been building up for months like a film will stay stuck on.

          • +1

@DemocracyEnjoyer: I guess those caked dust needs brush to loosen first before you blow or suck them.

  • I just bought like 3 of the wolfbox ones in total..
These are really handy around the house and keep spare in the car
I keep one for my Charcoal bbq, 1 for my car (blow out dust, dirt, rubbish and crumbs etc) and 1 for camping ( blowing out the tent floor, starting fires , inflating mattresses etc etc..)
Irony is i also have a no name brand one next to my computer but i've literally blown the dust out once with it..

  • DF/MF100 is amazing. I use it to blow leaves out of my garage. It does not have the air volume of a leaf blower, but it does have the air velocity and higher pressure! If you use this to clean your PC, make sure to hold down the fan blades so that they don't spin. The air velocity is so good that you can damage bearings by the fan overspeeding when blowing it with the DF/MF100.

  • Bought the DF60. Don't try to stack the Extra $6 off coupon on top of the 20% off coupon. It overides the 20%.

  • Looking for something similar size that vacuums as well as blows. Any recommendations? Just looking for something small for the odd quick clean of the foot well in my car.

  • Just out of curiosity why do people recommend the DF/MF-100 over the DF/MF-200?

Looking at the specs, the 200 is almost twice the air velocity, and also the removable battery can come in handy in the future (if battery is faulty just replace battery rather than junk the entire unit).

  • I had MF100, but the buttons were terrible. Was hard to use. The front button ended up getting stuck and I couldn't use it anymore. Got a refund.
I liked the device but the button situation has turned me off, maybe I got a dud.

  • I got the MF100 and the main concern is it's very loud on higher speeds. Ear piercingly loud. Good to wear ear protection.

    • Any idea if the DF200 is even louder?

What do you guys recommend for blowing dust out of PCs, keyboards etc.?

I think I want to buy two of them. The only reason for the second one, someone above mentioned that the DF200 doesn't come with an attachment for that and it's not suitable for that.

I'm thinking the DF200 for PC dusting and either the DF60 or DF100 for use to inflating. What do you guys recommend?

    • Can't beat physics if you want it small but also move lots of air. You can try 18V cordless drill style blowers there are plenty on Ali they move more air with less noise but bigger.

      • Yes, I agree. The Wolfbox which allows portability and power is very convenient. Just need to keep a compact pair of ear protection handy and problem solved!

  • Already have a DF100 but couldn't resist the DF200 at this price.

Also ordered a spare battery on AliExpress (Australian delivery) for $31, hopefully with 10% AliExpress credit back.

  • I thought the DF200's only significant improvement over MF100 was the battery but it is noticeably more powerful, I'm impressed!

    • Just got mine (and the battery). Yeah, they're miles apart, the 200 is much bigger all round.
