        Samsung S90F

        more vivid colours

        brighter UI and TV content

        better HDR colour saturation

        LG C5

        more natural colours

More vivid and brighter colours/HDR saturation only applies to the QD-OLED variant, Pretty sure the s90f WOLEDs are using the same panel as the C5 which makes your comments even more ridiculous.

i consulted chatgpt. you may be correct. i haven't read all the writing chatgpt wrote

@asspray: When comparing the 48-inch versions, the two TVs are extremely similar because they share the same WOLED panel. The differences mostly come from Samsung’s processing, tuning, and features rather than the panel itself. ([whathifi.com][1])

Below are the real advantages of the Samsung over the LG in the 48" size.

            TVs being compared

Advantages of the S90F (48") over the C5

            1️⃣ Brighter everyday picture (SDR)

The S90F tends to be noticeably brighter for normal content like YouTube, desktop use, and TV shows. Lab tests show higher SDR brightness compared to the C5. ([Tom's Guide][2])

What that means in real use:

            • Web pages look brighter
            • UI menus pop more
            • better for PC monitor use

            2️⃣ Punchier colour tuning

Samsung typically tunes colours to look more vivid and saturated, while LG aims for accuracy.

So the S90F tends to look:

            • more vibrant
            • more contrasty
            • more “wow” in games

Whereas LG looks more natural / cinema-accurate.

            3️⃣ Stronger image processing

The S90F uses Samsung’s NQ4 AI Gen3 processor with AI upscaling and colour enhancement. ([What Hi-Fi?][1])

            This helps with:

            • YouTube compression
            • lower-quality streaming
            • broadcast TV
            • sharpening textures in games

4️⃣ Slightly higher colour gamut potential

Testing shows Samsung reaching higher HDR colour coverage (Rec.2020 gamut) in some configurations. ([Tom's Guide][2])

            In practice this means:

            • richer colours in HDR scenes
            • stronger reds/greens

(Again, difference is small on the WOLED version but still present.)

            5️⃣ Samsung gaming ecosystem

Both TVs are great for gaming, but Samsung adds extras like:

            • Gaming Hub
            • built-in cloud gaming
            • strong console integration

            Both still support:

            • 4K 144 Hz
            • VRR
            • ALLM
            • 4× HDMI 2.1 ports ([What Hi-Fi?][1])

So gaming performance is basically equal, but Samsung has more gaming features.

Where the LG C5 is actually better (important)

Even if you asked about Samsung advantages, you should know the two big LG wins:

            1️⃣ Dolby Vision HDR support
Samsung does not support Dolby Vision at all. ([What Hi-Fi?][1])

2️⃣ More accurate colours out of the box

            The honest summary (48")

            Category Winner
            Brightness S90F
            Colour punch S90F
            Processing / upscaling S90F
            Gaming features Slight S90F
            Movie accuracy C5
HDR format support C5 (Dolby Vision)

            Simple way to choose:

            • Gaming / PC monitor / brighter punchy image → S90F
            • Movies / Netflix / Dolby Vision → C5

If you're planning to use it as a PC monitor (which you mentioned earlier), I can also show you the one hidden problem both TVs have with text clarity that surprises a lot of people buying OLED monitors.

          • @asspray: It's okay chatgpt, you aren't the only thing perplexed by Samsung's deliberately confusing product lineup!

  • get it

  • no stock anymore

  • This or TCL C7/8K?

    • whatever is cheaper?

  • Is this one better or the LG C5 42inch for computer monitor?

    • -1

Apples to oranges. Would be an easy choice if it was the s90f QD-OLED, but that's only the 55" in Aus.

    • -2

i've added the answer to above from Chatgpt.

    • I've got the gigabyte 48inch oled. I impulsed purchased and needed a few add-ons. Ergotron HD pivot monitor arm and a 90cm depth table.

Need to be aware that TV's miss out on some monitor features like auto wake and sleep so that may be a manual step for the user.

      • Samsung has no auto sleep? Or the gigabyte one?

  • Asked Harvey Norman to price match via chat and they said this is against their terms of "Products with pricing set significantly lower than the recommended retail price or market value." so they will not price match. Wild.

    • Did you tell HVN that the RRP is fictional lol?

      • they also had it at the same price as this over the weekend 🤣
  • Consider PPI with any TV to be used as a productivity device.

  • +1

Could potentially price match on the Samsung website and use the current AMEX offer and get an extra $100 off. Haven’t tried though.

Edit: Actually, it doesn’t look like they sell it on their website, as there’s no price listed, but it may still work with other models for sale, if you find a good deal for them to match.
