I’d say it was until the olive shortage started and half price on this has been scarce.
The shortage that happened about 5 years ago and prices miraculously never dropped down? I love it capitalism. Spin the wheel for who gets to have a shortage next and reap the rewards of doubling the consumer price, forever.

Yup, I mentioned this one before and some brainwashed people claimed this doesnt happen…
It can be. I always buy 2 and put one in the fridge. With my oil usage that usually takes me to the next 1/2 price event.
On the international market, the olive oil spot prices are as follows:
* Pre-drought prices (Q3 2022), olive oil prices were around $4,200 USD/tonne (and was broadly the price since Q1 2021).
* Peak of drought (Q1 2024), olive oil prices were $10,000 USD/tonne.
* End of Q4 2025, olive oil prices were around $5,000 USD/tonne.
Comparison of deal prices:
* This advertised deal by WW Cobram Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil 750ml is 50% off @ $12.50 ($25.00 RRP)
* Cobram Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil 750ml in 2021 @WW when on sale at 50% off was $9 ($18 RRP)
Inflation Calculation:
* Average inflation of 4.5% since 2021, means $18 should be $21.50 purchasing power.
* The difference between $21.50 and $25.00 is 15%.
* The price between international olive oil spot prices in 2021 ($4,200) and 2025 ($5,000) is a 17.5% increase.
So by my very shaky maths, the margin/profit on olive oil being sold by WW has actually decreased. Of course this is napkin maths. Not taking into account forex rates. AUD was ~0.77 cents vs USD in 2021 and ended last year at 0.71 cents or so, which is a big factor (stronger AUD vs USD in 2021 means retailers would have had a better margin than they do right now). I'm talking buying of olive oil overall, not withstanding Cobram is from Australia and would have been settled in AUD, but my point stands.
Yet those idiots at the AFR keep claiming the price of oil is going UP
$12.50 at half off. I'm going to have to side with Austrlaian Fuel Review and stick with pork lard for now.
Ty, will be buying this
Just in time, as my current bottle is about to run out!

last time I visited, I noticed Aldi has dropped it's 3L Australian EEVO down to $39
Even at half price it's too expensive.
Sucks that the biggest can is the 3L Cobram which is the same price as the 4L Moro… And it's not often on sale like the Moro.
Bumper harvest, time to clear stock.

The only real EVOO to buy from supermarkets is Cobram Estate and Red Island.
oh not another link to AI slop …
and you believe this because a random video on youtube tells you so?
Yes it's slop but as long as you're cognisant of what it is, don't believe everything stated. In fact the title just piqued my interest as I use a lot of EVOO and therefore it was only a precursor to actual research into olive oil production. Unbelievably some of the points made regarding 'refined oil' using methods like heat and chemical solvents were valid. Apologies, I should have just posted the fact that if you only have access to olive oil via supermarkets then only buy Australian Cold Pressed Cobram Estate or Red Island.
Talk about JIT, Thank you OP
Very good taste. Great for things like chimichurri and peri sauce.
This really does contribute to a banger of a chimmichurri. I make it quite often.
