They are cutting the service fee discount too. Full text:

Since 2022, Uber One has continued to evolve to deliver even more meaningful savings to our members. Today, we’re making two changes to our membership offering with a new focus on sharing the value of Uber One.

What’s New: Uber One for your Family

    Refocusing our Benefits

As we continue investing in our core benefits of $0 Delivery Fee and 5% Uber One credits on eligible rides, from April 9th, 2026, the Service Fee discount will no longer be included as part of the membership benefits.

You will continue to get these Principal Benefits:

    • $0 Delivery Fee on eligible restaurant, grocery, and retail orders.
    • 5% Uber One credits on eligible rides to spend on future trips or meals.
    • Exclusive member-only promotions and special items.
    • Access to discounted HOYTS tickets^, go to the movies for just $12^ a ticket.
    • Access to top-rated drivers and delivery people.

That's a massive change, the service fee is always a significant portion of the order cost even with Uber One. It's also a hidden cost that jumps out at the very end.

I forgot to cancel my membership this month, they charge a day or two before it's due to renew. Another reason to cancel that service fee always bumps up the price

    • +3

      That's disgraceful.

With the jacking of the meal price, the service charges, the Uber one fee or delivery charge, the cold food with bundled orders and the crappy AI or offshored service, Uber's customer experience is appalling in my view.

Many drivers can't seem to stand them either based on what pops up on Facebook. Many restaurants can't stand them too.

Uber seems like a menace to society or a race to the bottom.

The devil is in the details.
from April 9th, 2026, the Service Fee discount will no longer be included as part of the membership benefits.

Its like giving 10% discount and taking away 50% back.

Uber is notorious in tracking the location of the user and will ensure that family sharing is restricted to a particular postcode.

    • Service fee was the main benefit I thought!

    • +1

Yep, just like how they removed the 10% discount on Uber rides and replaced it with 5% credit back on rides. I would hardly call this a benefit either - who isn't just sharing an account with their family if they're paying for a subscription?

  • +7

Unfortunately the "Uber benefits" are pretty scarce these days and most places charge a delivery fee even with the membership if they're more than a stones throw away.

    • Yea I try ordering pick up when possible. Sucks how so many places do not allow pick up.

  • +4

With Surge Pricing being regular also the benefits continue to be diminished. Even comfort cars which are more expensive are often dirty and smelly. I prefer Didi because at least it is usually cheaper.

Did anyone actually get a service discount or could see the transparency on it previously? I've just checked all my previous orders and could never see a discount applied. Most orders of circa $100 were attracting a fee of around $7.99. I feel like I was never getting this discount anyway…..

At least with delivery discount I saw it taken off on the receipt/invoice.

    • I made an order with friends yesterday, $120 of food, service was $7.99 and discount was 68c or something so it was still over $7 in service fees.

  • +22

This change is a blatant attempt to paper over the reduction in actual benefits.

  • +2

Uber One has always felt like the product team was told they needed to introduce a subscription service but have no clue how to implement it.

The only real benefit is a discount and you’ve reduced the discount? Wow great, what a useful service. I’ve made my money back on my sub with grocery discounts but I won’t be resubbing.

  • +3

In my experience, most delivery services have gotten worse over the last few years. I used Uber, Menulog, Doordash etc. Uber was likely the most mature out of all of these but has reduced the delivery radius quite a bit, increased service prices for the seller/buyer i.e., taking a bigger cut now and now the service fee.

    • I reckon they get you in with good offers and discounts, and then they take away all the good stuff and shrug their shoulders. The streaming services have all done it too.

    • There’s a reason why some of them exited the market.

  • +2

Does anyone actually pay full price for Uber One? Cause they just keep offering me free or reduced price trials.

In 2025, I got offered two lots of 3 month trials for free, and then got an offer to extend the last one for an extra 3 months for $3. So 9 months of Uber One for $3 total. They're basically just giving it away, which I reckon speaks to its value.

    • im trying to get back on with a free sub to uberone but nothing works for me

      • I've gotten the same as mboy.

I had a free trial for 3 months and then I let it lapse one month with a paid sub for $9.99 and then when I went to cancel - it took a few clicks - it offered an extra 3 months for $3.

    • My free membership finally ran out last month :( think its been 1.5years of free lol. But i dont get any good offers to stay/come back

  • Ah, get us with a positive first and then further down word the enshittification as "refocusing". lol, they won't be getting my money again. Byeeeee

  • +1

I thought it was such a win to share Uber One benefits so my wife doesn't need to use my account… but given the benefits have dwindled (particularly on Uber Eats) it all seems a bit pointless to have a subscription.
