Am I blind or does that link not even state the resolution?

    • +3

No, your eyes do not deceive you. The Xiaomi website states that the resolution is 2560x1440 180Hz.

    • Not blind, the Xiaomi website states 1440p though (well, "2K," even though that isn't 1440p)

      • It supports 2k. It's standard behaviour in the market that once something exceeds it, they will advertise as 2k

  • Has anyone tested and has a review on this?

I can't find any decent reviews on youtube.

    • +2

Not many reviews for this monitor in particular. This was one of monitors I kept on my shortlist.
Ended up with Gigabyte OLED 'cause the price was simply too attractive.

https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1QdVdzbENM/ - in China it is called Redmi G Pro 27Q.
You can pause the video and translate using google etc. Worked for me when I was researching on this.

It is a decent miniLED monitor but lacks firmware update capability and possibly limited support from xiaomi.
If you dont mind rapid VA panel, MSI MAG 274QPF X30MV is in the same price bracket ($488-489). This has higher refresh rate and better contrast, with minor black smearing (apparently not noticeable to some).

      • Did you look at any 32 inches? Good to know re Chinese brand names

        • +1

@ferrar1 - I did for awhile and gave up. They are either too expensive or not available in Australia.
If you want mini LED, best bet is to get 27in instead.
If you really want 32in, go with Lenovo Legion Pro OLED monitor. At that price point, it is cheaper than decent 32in mini LED monitor options we have here.

This monitor would be around $850 with cashback. Or go with Alienware refurb unit.

      • Thanks, I am looking at upgrading to OLED or MiniLED. Something around the $500 mark. I am happy to wait.

        • +1

If you are happy to wait, keep an eye out for Lenovo Legion Pro 27Q-10. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/942043
This was one of my shortlisted monitors as well. It was a tad over $500.

If you want 27", 4K dual mode, mini LED, the best priced one is AOC U27G4XM. Regularly on sale for $539, with lowest at around $489.
If you want the "best" 27", 2K, mini LED, currently that is FFalcon 27Q7A Pro. It is basically TCL but it is only available in China and some Asian countries.
I doubt we would see this available here in Australia. FYI, you can purchase this directly from China but for warranty, you would need to send the unit back which can be expensive.

          • @racingmiku: Thanks for the recommendations.

I have personally been eyeing this one from Dell - Alienware 27 280Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor - AW2725D - works out a little cheaper with the EDU discount but I am waiting for it to drop to below $500 and then might snag one.

My only issue is that I work from home 3 days a week and I have a 34" which is amazing for work and downgrading to 27" might be a step back. But the 27" would be better suited for my now dated 6700XT as the 34" 1440p is about 1.5 times the resolution of a standard 1440p monitor. So less strain for sure.

            So much dilemma lol

          • @racingmiku: How to purchase the FFalcon directly from China?

            • @Jharris15: @Jharris15 You need to download JD.com app. The app doesnt have option for English AFAIK.
I used Google Translate build in my Samsung phone to help navigate.

Search for 雷鸟 Q8. Or 雷鸟 Q7.

First one is for 4K, 165Hz dual mode.
Second link is for 1440p, 320Hz. Free shipping to Australia (40-50 days).

Xiaomi Mini LED monitor dropped in price $423.47 in amazon - https://amzn.asia/d/0ifnWXdy

              • @racingmiku: Thanks! I was also looking at the KTC M27T6 as another option..

                • @Jharris15: M27T6 uses Rapid VA panel, so you would expect some level of black smearing.
In general, KTC build quality is not as good.
It is cheaper compared to Xiaomi monitor, for sure. If it fits your budget better, go for it.
I would have preferred M27T6S but it is not readily available (or on sale) in Australia.

1152 dimming zones, HDR1000 with a peak brightness of 2000nits.

Would be keen to see this in action, specs make it sound pretty good. I love my inky blacks though, I do wonder how it stands up next to an OLED.

    • It definitely won’t be as good as an OLED, but this won’t suffer from burn in so it’s much better for productivity/office work.

  • damn thats nice!

  • I’d personally love to see this type spec in ultrawide 34/40/42 inch as a successor to the famously popular 34” xioami VA a lot of us are still rocking. Mini LED would be ideal for a mix between use cases of productivity and gaming right?

    • I second this as I also have the 34" Xiaomi monitor and would love a $600 Mini-Led 34" version.

I have this monitor, got it from the Mi store for $453. Can't complain for the price, in fact I really like mine. Never realised how much I needed local dimming to get rid of annoying IPS glow. It does have some blooming when viewing bright objects on black backgrounds which is exassurbated when viewing the monitor off-centre but that's to be expected for this panel technology. I just keep local dimming on the first setting 24/7 now because it's enough to eliminate IPS glow.

Please do not buy this expecting it to be OLED quality; it isn't. I got it because 1440p oleds have text fringing in Windows, and I do a lot of desktop/productivity stuff as well as gaming, so OLED was a no go for me. Also the price, and if I didn't like it I'd just return. If you're mainly just gaming and don't care about text fringing in 1440p on Windows then pay the extra and go for an OLED.
