Note - i dont think this shop is eligible for the new game Crimson Desert by redemption. I couldnt find it here - https://www.amd.com/en/where-to-buy/bundles/crimson-desert-g…

The other 9070XT deals here have them from like Centrecom

    • Isn't Shopping Express on the list? (Smart Home Store is Shopping Express)

      • yes, but this link goes to Smart home ebay store. Im not sure if invoice is issued as 'Shopping Express'

        • +2

The invoice says "Smart home store" and in subprint, "Kai Seng Computer Solution Pty Ltd" with ABN 83 095 108 777. "Shopping Express" isn't written anywhere on the invoice.

          • @skid: Companies go by the information written on the invoice.

    • +5

smarthomestoreau eBay store is owned by Kai Seng Computer Solution, which also owns Shopping Express (which is on the list).

But it would depend on the invoice you receive when purchasing.

    • I'm guessing these game redemptions don't work with prebuilts since we don't know when the store would've bought the GPU?

    • +2

You could always message the seller and see if they would send you the AMD Rewards code. I had to do this with PCCG

    • Even if you can't redeem the game, not every buyer will be interested in playing it. I'd personally rather get a free copy of Cyberpunk 2077, a game that is used as a graphical performance benchmark.

Be aware this requires 3x 8 pin power plugs. Most 9070 XTs only require 2x.

Umart has this for $899, if you want local pick up + the game redemption:

I think 3x8pin is best for any XT given that two is only ~288w so it relies on the 60-75w from the PCI slot to get the rest, and a +10% PL will take a 304W 2 pin card to 334W, it's a bit tight especially given how much these things spike.

      • +4

Technically a single 8 pin can easily supply something like 300-450w very safely (depending on the wire gauge), it's the gpu side that's locked down to 150w each. This is the reason why pigtailing 2 connectors is safe unless you've got a shoddy no name psu. The 12VHPR converters that take 2x8 pins are also rated to run at the full 600W. Some cards will allow you to exceed the 150w limit per pin.

Der8auer has a great video on this.

      • Yeah, its definitely better. My PSU only has 2 connectors though, or I'd have bought this.

just means it aint gonna burn down

    this one doesnt have PTM7950.

    • How much extra do you think that is worth?

      • +3

the internet is saying it reduces temps by upto 10deg which can be significant on these cards i think. The Sapphire cards and XFX i think have PTM7950.

        • Think the gigabyte cards have better vrm temps though.

          • @mordinhoz: Due to faster spinning fans as a result of the higher core temperature.

      • +1

The PowerColor Reaper has PTM7950 for about $2 more (or for $3 less if you sign up for their club): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/950501

    • Isn't it the model with the thermal gel too?

      • +2

ah dont know about that… I have been using this sheet to check (somebody on reddit has done God's work and put it together).

        • +1

          Gosh that's good looking spreadsheet.
          Tks.

    • What is PTM7950? What does it do? I assume it's some sort of chip?

  • +3

Now, need a good deal on 9060XT

  • Tempting

  • I watched some reviews, I recall they say it's loud

  • 288mm long says the description, shorter than the powercolor reaper one actually (which stated 304mm with brackets).

Great because can use discounted eBay gift cards on it, and try going through cashback too (although most likely fail for to using unapproved coupon code)

Nice deal I'm jealous I bought mine for 1200 day 1

Advantages of this card is that it has a 3 year warranty that can be extended to 4. And its very quiet according to reviewers. Its a big card though

Are you sure about the warranty? I can't find reference to this card being eligible for 4 years, the only 9070 XT that specifically lists the 1 year extension on Gigabytes website is the AORUS Radeon RX 9070 XT ELITE 16G.

I bought this card on release, and it's been great in my NR200 build. I wasn't aware of their warranty extension program so I didn't register when I bought it so can't confirm from experience if it is 3 or 4 years.

It certainly isn't a big card compared to other variants (it's one of the few that fit nicely in SFF builds) and requiring 3 x 8pins is a benefit in my book seeing the power is drawn across the 3 cables instead of those with 2, particularly given the issues of late with ATX 12pin.

    • +2

I contacted Gigabyte when I bought this card and they confirmed this model isn’t eligible

    • +1

crap soz, so is it only aorus models? I thought it was a gigabyte gpu thing but i have only been able to find this page https://global.aorus.com/event-detail.php?i=764

good price but that's about it. nvidia still have better extra features if you're a power user - geforce broadcast, dlss, fg, nvenc, building sdks. if you just care about gaming then this 9070 xt is great choice

    • -2

Nvidia's biggest advantage is the ray tracing and path tracing performance. They run circles around AMD in that regard.
Play a game like Cyberpunk 2077 in path tracing mode. The gfx are mind blowing.

Also Nvidia offers better long term driver support than AMD. They are still supporting RTX 2000 series which was released back in 2018.

      • +1

Agree on the overall performance advantage for nvidia, but 9070 xt runs path tracing just fine in Cyberpunk. Even with a slightly better image resolve for nvidia, "mind blowing" gfx really apply to both. The difference isn't night and day as you appear to think.

  • This or the PowerColor Reaper 9070XT? I've got size constraints so trying to stay below 300mm.

    • This card is better than the reaper imo, higher stock clocks, and a better cooling solution.

  • Getting close to half of the price at release. Pretty amazing in this climate.

  • Every Gigabyte 'Gaming' Radeon card I've tried going back to the RX580 (RMA'd 2 due to this, and then sold the 3rd RMA replacement) had overheating issues. Never understood why they insist on full coverage on the rear of the PCB, locking in excess heat which could otherwise radiate away as with other cards made by their competitors (square cutout where the GPU die sits).

Their higher tier cards have superior cooling, but I would never personally one of their gaming cards or recommened it for purchase.
