Bunnings Deliveries with One Pass

I really don't understand the Bunnings free deliveries with One Pass.

They have a limit set so that once you exceed it, you have to pay a delivery fee. However there's no limit on the number of orders you can place. So if I want to order 8 bags of garden soil at $5.49 each with free delivery, I just put in 8 seperate orders. Australia Post just delivered them to me - all individually packed and labeled as a seperate order. So they have paid Australia Post to deliver 8 heavy packages. They've paid for the packaging, and the employee to retrieve and pack the soil too.

Surely they are just losing money on this? Has anyone else used they "multiple orders" approach to get free delivery this way?

    PS you don't get any bonus point with Bunnings/Onepass when you order online. Found that out the hard way when i ordered $5000 worth of decking, expecting my 25k bonus points which didn't arrive

    Two bags of 20 kg. concrete, not eligible for free delivery, but one bag is. So, I put them on two separate orders. It was delivered by one guy dragging two 20 kg bags to my front door.

      I was nice to the AusPost guy as I was home when he turned up with my bags of dirt. Told him to just dump on the driveway where he parked, then I moved round the back in a wheelbarrow.

      that is so odd.

      so all these onepass subscribers who are bundling their items together in cart like anyone normally would, are getting charged for delivery. which pays for the delivery of free delivery items.

    Lots of things about OnePass don't make sense. I can order a $1 pen from Officeworks with next day courier delivery at no extra charge. But the other day I tried to order something from Kmart. I added a $3 pen and the total went up by $12. Turns out that because the pen was on clearance, it's not eligible for OnePass, and because of that the whole order is ineligible, even though the weight of a pen would make no difference to the delivery cost. You just have to play the game. It's stupid and everyone loses.

      The person who ordered the $1 pen from Officeworks with free next day courier delivery for free certainly didn't "lose".

        Yeah I mean I feel like I won, not having to haul my lazy arse to bunnings and carry 8 sacks of dirt.

        In my case, I lost because I didn't want to pay $12 extra for them to chuck a $3 pen into the box. And they lost a sale (on the pen) which wouldn't have cost them anything shipping wise.

      after hearing from someone else on a year of Onepass I agree it's a bit confusing.

      they told me they bought a couple things, but were charged for delivery. I was like "Onepass is meant to be free delivery no minimum spend!!".

      they were like well it wasn't true they got charged. tbf though they can't even tell they are buying from marketplace half the time. 😂 so I guess a lot of people are getting charged delivery when it's meant to be free, and they are paying for the other customers of these free delivery items.

    same here, my 10 bags of potting mix came in 5 deliveries over 2 days lol

    I have a feeling that Onepass was developed in a complete rush. They really, really wanted to be like Amazon Prime (subscription for a free delivery) but they did not know how to do that, so kind of half arsed it.

    I wonder if it is profitable at all for Wesfarmers.

    I was amazed when I got a bag on concrete and a few other small things delivered for free in 2 days with Onepass!

    I ordered 2x click 5000mAh phone battery packs with usb c connectors. 5.95 each. Next day the delivery came and one was Apple connector. Called them up they said no problems will send you a new one, you can keep the wrong one. The replacement was sent by courier same day. I spent less than $12, got 3 items over 2 deliveries one being same day courier. They didn't make any money from that transaction.
