Westpac Altitude Velocity Black Credit Card: 120000 VFF ($6000 Spend in 120 Days Req), $200 1st Yr + $75 Program Fee

950

Westpac's first year 120,000 VFF points offer via a generic post booking link I received when booking a flight with virgin.

“Get up to 180,000 bonus Velocity Points:

120,000 Velocity Points in year 1 if you spend $6k+ on eligible purchases† within 120 days of new card approval and,

an extra 60,000 points with $6k+ spend on eligible purchases† within 120 days of card anniversary in year 2.

Offer not available if you’ve held an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black card with Altitude Rewards, Qantas or Velocity in the last 24 months. New cards only. T&Cs apply.”

Offer is 30k more than the standard long running Westpac offer and includes a reduced annual fee of $200 for the first year.
Refer to my previous post for further info, just disregard the additional 30k points activation offer from Velocity in that post.

Damn, they've finally increased it to 24 months!

At least credit limit is low.
    Minimum credit limit: $6,000

    • +10

It's been 24 months for a little while now. Really sad.

      • did they do 18 months or went straight to 24?

    • -4

yeah I still would rather get an amex over this car the amex deals just have way more points and way more points per dollar as well.

      • Harder to get Amex if they deem you a churner

        • you just need to wait 2 years after being a amex customer :D then you can do it again.

          • +3

@kungfuman: It's been 6 years for me. Will get rejected for any and every AMEX still. I made too much money from them from 2011 to 2018 or so.

        • I mean with the wait times increasing to 2 years is it even churning at this point?

      • Which Amex is the best one to get as of today?

  • +1

7 months left before i can apply again :(

  • +3

Anyone knows if there is a minimum income requirement?

Never mind, it is on the application page.
    $75,000 p.a. Minimum income required

  • I'm an additional cardholder from my partner's Westpac credit card. Am I still eligible for this offer? I haven't held a Westpac credit card primarily for more than 24 months.

      • +1

I disagree with this. I think being a supplementary card holder alone will not disqualify you from the bonus, provided you meet all other eligibility (ie assuming you have not held an excluded card in your own name in the last 24 months).

      • Incorrect, additional cardholders are not treated as having held the card. Source: I take turns with my partner churning card no problems.

    • +2

IMO I interpret it as an additional cardholder does not actually hold the account so I think you’d be safe. Login in to the Westpac chat and give them a call through there just to confirm. Using the app is easiest and fastest way to get a hold of them.

    • Yes

    • +2

Yes you are eligible. I was also an additional card holder before applying. A new customer is only primary card holder.

    • +2

For anyone interested, I called Westpac and they said I would be eligible provided I have not held a Westpac cc as a primary cardholder for more than 24 months.

      Thanks all for your reply.

  • Got knocked back twice :(

    • +17

🎵 I get knocked back, but I apply again ain't no bank gonna keep me downnnnn

    • +1

Gonna show up on your credit score twice too then :(

$500k mortgage? Sure thing sir, sign right here.

$6k limit credit card? Sorry sir, but we're concerned you may not be able to pay us back.

It’s because property is the infinite money ponzi glitch in this country right?

    • Same… Tried in January and again last week.

  • I’m not seeing a lot of good value flights on VFF points, anyone else seeing same? Admittedly I’m only looking a few months out but 100k+ PER-SIN is ridiculous. Makes me stick with QFF when making a card choice now.

    • yeesh that's not good. was looking at MEL-SFO return and it was 96k with very little fees with united

      • There is hope then, must just be my travel window

    • I've been looking at BNE-SIN for 29k so I'm sure there are some out there from PER for the same price point.

    • +1

45k points + $100 to Haneda isn't bad. You have to be very flexible with dates though

      • +2

Did this last Nov, ANA flight. Was great value.

    • +1

      Quick search on seats.aero shows 21/04 for 25k + $150 Per->Sin

      • That’s more like it - thanks

    • Yep Perth flights have either reduced the availability loads or there's more people using VFF because it's been hard to get good value out of the points for the last year now.
Was trying to book a flight for late October of next year and there was none of the reward seats available, none…

  • Any recs for a good Qantas card at the moment?

    • +1

I just applied for the stock standard 150k bonus QFF points with NAB. $2xx cash back which brings the first year fee down from $4xx

      • Thank you, that sounds good. Will have a look

      • 150k points? Which offer is that? I’ve just signed up to the NAB 100k points in first year, and 30k in second. Best offer I could find for bonus Qantas points in the first year.
        https://www.nab.com.au/personal/credit-cards/offers/qantas-s…

        • My bad … you’re right … it’s 100k first year and 30k the 2nd

          $250k cash back

Had to go through the ringer to get approved. Was seriously harder than getting a homeloan and I have 3 of those #facepalm

          • +4

@CY: $250k cash back!? Sign me up

          • @CY: Funnily enough I was singing NABs praises I got approved immediately and had the card in my digital wallet straight away and the physical card arrived 2 days later.

First application in over a year maybe.

          • @CY: My NAB process was the easiest out of any application for me! Approved instantly and no pay or bank statements needed!

Was using the Apple Pay feature within 10 minutes of starting the application process!

        • Would my rent be considered an "everyday purchase"?

        • Easily best on the market atm.

        • Do you know whether I'm eligible if I already have NAB velocity signature credit card?

  • oh wow I missed this. When I navigate to the Westpac website altitude velocity black credit card it shows 150,000 points but OP's link is 180,000. Good thing I haven't applied yet.

  • I applied with this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/946081
    hopefully i can 30k extra.

    • How do you get the extra 30k? I remember that deal and was re-looking

EDIT: Nvm I read it like you could get that 150k

  • What's the earn rate for VFF?

    • Click the link, it says is there.

    • 0.8 VFF per $1 on everyday purchases

  • Currently in the middle of meeting my Amex Velocity churn but hoping this makes a return come July. I can lower my Amex credit limit to $3k and try applying for Westpac Altitude Velocity.

  • Hope there's an equivalent offer for Altitude Qantas Black

    • +1

Currently the NAB QANTAS Signature is truly unbeatable value, 100,000 points for $90 annual fee. Best I’ve seen in a long time. $15k min limit though.

      • Thx for sharing, I have loan with Westpac there will be no annual fee so Altitude turns out better, will have a look at NAB offer.

        • But are you sure you'll get the bonus and the Annual fee waived off ?

          • @akula: Yes, I previously got both.

      • Message the admin of

        https://www.rwrds.com.au/issuers/nab/qantas

and get that deal added to the list :-)

      • How do you get $90 annual fee? I had a look and it says $420

        • $100 reduction in annual fee for existing customer, $250 cashback

          = 420-100-250=70

So it’s actually cheaper than I remembered. Even better value. 1428 points per annual fee dollar. Nothing is even close atm.

Just open a free everyday account if you’re not a customer to get the discount. Read t+c to ensure you get the cashback.

  • Thx OP, applied and approved instantly

    • Good result. I applied for this card on 25th Feb. Still nothing. Says application under review.

      • Give them a call when they open in the morning

        • Thanks, just called them and they said I will hear about a decision in 1 business day. Literally within 15 mins, I got an email saying that my application was approved lol

  • The $275 fee sucks

  • Note that from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/946081 Westpac is claiming that the 120,000 is a combination of the 90,000 Westpac offers and 30,000 Velocity offers for their Feb/March promo as the TnC's in this deal show 90k instead of 120k. I'd argue that since the velocity promo ended on 05/03/2026 and this page is still showing 120k offer that Westpac's claim is invalid.

    • FYI, according to the T&Cs in the OP’s link, the 30,000 points within the advertised total of 120,000 points appear to be part of the current promotional offer rather than the earlier Velocity promotion ended on 05/03/2026. Two different promotions.
      The T&Cs state:
“ ~Bonus Velocity Points Promotion Altitude Black: Offer commenced 27 January 2026 and runs until 30 April 2026. To be eligible for bonus Velocity Points, you must apply and be approved for a new Altitude Velocity Black credit card between 12.01am AEST 27 January and 11.59pm 30 April 2026 inclusive (Promotion Period). You will receive an initial 90,000 bonus points if you spend $6,000 or more on eligible purchases within 120 days of card approval. You will also receive an additional 30,000 bonus Points within 45 days of receiving the initial 90,000 bonus Points.”

      • Oh nice thanks

        • Westpac rewards team had given out the wrong information to some people, including myself originally, I was told the 30k was inclusive of the 120,000 points originally. They escalated it to their complaints team, whom replied within a couple days by email and confirmed they were seperate offers.

  • Trying to apply but it's asking me to go to a branch to verify ID?? I never got to a step to upload my ID documents.

    • Are you new to WP? Seems that's the requirement now.

      • Yes this is my first card with them.

  • Main issues here are not being told around eligibility for the bonus when applying

I’m not sure as haven’t applied but i churned quite a few cards in 2024/2025 so meeting the two year gap is hard to confirm

So if i go through and apply and approved etc then when meeting the spend to be told no points for you would be extremely annoying

    • Call and ask when you closed your last card with them, they’ll tell you.

      • Call - that’s the worst part
Should legit be a pop up when applying or before you finalize it.
A small convenience they could offer to prevent them a much bigger inconvenience later

        • +1

Of course, but these are banks - they’re all awful.

Keep an excel sheet with closing dates to make your life easier - can track your NBN / PHI / other churns too

          • @zfind: If you're a churner, this is the best way to keep track of your closed cards. I keep a Google Sheets for this.

Since you already applied WP before then can log into your account and check closed statements. Or check your email for the closure email.

  • Is this just worse than the previous deal?

    • 30,000 less. Yes

  • Is it possibly to get the second year points and cancel the card within the grace period of the second year?

    • You can cancel anytime after got the points. Note that you will get hit with the full annual fee (and program fee) on the 1st statement of the 2nd year.

Most people here will just cancel after got the bonus points in the first year and move on - unless you like to keep this longer for other reasons.

  • Can this combine with the offer below?

"home loan package customer, we'll waive your annual card fee while you remain on the package. # Only one credit card can be linked per package."

    • Historically, it's been one or the other.

The Package rules are very clear that they won't refund any fees charged before the card is added (it does allow them to refund when you've been charged after adding it to the package and they hadn't processed it time), so can't even get it that way. It might give a waiver for the second year bonus though, but not sure how that works when added to a package…

  • Hey OzbS, I had an account with Westpac some time ago (probably from churning) and it makes me log in into the account to submit the application. The profile is empty, meaning no accounts remain open, which is good.
However, when I check the credit card offers, they dont offer the same as per the link. The still offer the 90k for the first year, no 120k points.

Am I doing something wrong? Help….

    • So I just tried myself and ran in to the same issue as you. When I first signed up to the offer in this post I had never had an account before so didn’t encounter that.

If you go to start an application again via the link in this post, does it prompt you that you already have an application in progress (after you verify mobile number)? If so when you select the previous one you started, does it still prompt you to sign up via Westpac Online banking?

  • Hello everyone, may I ask should I get this or 150,000 Qantas points? Most of the AIs told me even though Qantas has fewer points (150k instead of 180k at Velocity), the Qantas points are still better. But I still want to get some real person feedback on it, please. My goal is to get a single or return business class international trip. Destination could be Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, or USA. Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

  • +1

This deal is now showing within the Virgin App, under Trips tab down the bottom.

  • Hi all, I opted in for the bonus 30k offer when it was available, does anyone know if I apply for the card now will I still be eligible for the bonus 30k points?

    Link to offer: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/944758

    • No - you must apply and be approved before 5 March.

  • Worthwhile waiting for another VFF bonus points offer?
