Ozito 18V 2.5Ah Battery + Standard Charger $19.98 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass) @ Bunnings

660

Looking for my first Ozito battery and came across this deal for a simple 2.5Ah (18V) battery AND charger for only $20.

There is also another version for $69 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-2-5ah-battery-and-…) but it seems that the only difference between the two is that the $69 one has a red label and so most likely goes faster…… Whether that is worth the $49 price difference over the $20 black labelled version is up to you of course.

There seems to be plenty of stock at lots of different stores - there were 10+ at Lidcombe, NSW - although whilst they are on the shelf with other Ozito batteries, they do not have a pricing sticker anywhere in sight, so maybe that's why people aren't buying them? I haven't checked other stores yet to see how they are promoted (or not).

Stock checker: https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0501102

EDIT: Whilst this deal has been listed previously (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/914555), past discussion centred around how unavailable it was. That is not the case at the moment.

Mod: Duplicate exception, the original post is older than 6 months and is not a repostable deal. Marked the previous deal expired and the current deal as long running.

I bought this sometime ago - two of them. Both went back because the battery was buzzing when being charged. YMMV

If you need a battery worth taking a gamble as Bunnings has a good returns policy, just don't expect anything great with the battery

    • +2

Is that not normal? I have 3 batteries and all of them buzz when being charged. I think the sound comes from the charger?

    • +3

the battery was buzzing when being charged

That's how you know it's working.

    • 😲

    • Thanks. Seems to be the same item, but the discussion there is mostly about how out of stock it is.
Maybe it was a month ago, but definitely plenty around these days.
Unless the mods disagree, I would probably keep this post up otherwise people might find the other one and think there is no bargain to be had?

  • Good deal! Tempted to grab for another charger, but don't majorly want another 2.5 batt. Got one and a few 4ers and I'd stick with 4 and up tbh.

Tempted to grab for another charger

      Why?

      • +1

Because it's a $20 charger - which is cheap unto itself.
Multiple chargers are useful if you are using multiple batteries in a short period.

        • +3

I probably have about 6 chargers due to purchasing tools with batteries when on sale…

Don't think I'd ever buy a charger on it's own.

    • +4

Lol you're the first one I've ever heard, buying a pack for the charger instead of the battery!

    • +2

the small batteries i prefer for my drills to keep it light. i use the big batteries for my vacuum and fans that i run for a long time.

    • If you get another small tool you'll likely prefer another 2.5ah in it. The sales should be in May again when Ozito is pricematched to Ferrex.

Dupe, it has also been this price since May 2025 and in stock.

Looking for my first Ozito battery

    It always starts with one.

My name is Bargaino, and I an an Ozitoholic.

    • I have been (and still am) in the Ryobi universe.
But I recently acquired a concrete vibrator (actually, yes - for vibrating concrete) which had the option of either a Dewalt or an Ozito battery. I chose the Ozito as it looked like the cheapest option for batteries.
I will try very hard not to purchase more Ozito stuff now!

      • +1

@clintdb "I will try very hard not to purchase more Ozito stuff now!"

Okay. It's out there now. You said it. 🤭

        • +1

Is this like group therapy where we each try to hold one another accountable?
But we are ultimately not very successful because…. bargains.

          • +1

@clintdb: "My name is StingyBritches. It has been 35 days since my last Ozito purchase."

            • @StingyBritches: and longer since the last eneloop addition to a bundle in the drawers that are already more than I need

    • Is that a coincidence between ozito and ozbargain? Wondering who came first.

      • The Ozito name has been around since 1993. But it became a favourite after the purchase by einhel Germany in 2013.

Can these be shucked for a source of Li-ion 18650 cells? I imagine it's 5 cells at $4 each, if that is the case.

Edit: they are NOT 18650 cells but are actually 20650… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViDun2Nez3o

    • +2

      is 20650 even better?

like obviously the size is different (20mm round?) so you 18650 devices wont fit

      also this deal is… CRAZY

i bought a few prior to covid at $20

      end of covid also $20

and then 18 months ago another set and they still sell it at the same price???

    • I'm surprised! 18650 is so common the prices should be very low instead they went for a rare 20650 but still able to keep rrp down.

  • So they try to kill the after market?

    • +1

More so selling cheap batteries and chargers sell more tools. Which in turn sell more batteries and chargers (as you expand).

At some point if after the 3 year warranty you get a dead battery it's a nice way for people to stay in the ecosystem inexpensively. The 2.5 and 4 batteries and are essentially $10 and $33 each when brought in packs.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/947340

    • What after market are they trying to kill?

Who makes batteries for Ozito tools?

And I'm not talking about anything that needs an adaptor.

  • According to PriceHipster this is the normal price (at least since Sep 2024):

    https://pricehipster.com/product/AYvdf4j1cAC1UWlK2bd-Ww

  • Does this work for Bosch vaccum cleaner?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/951154#comment-17423275

    • only if you can find an adaptor from ozito to bosch green battery. should be available via aliexpress.

  • +1

FYI, check your local store, I picked up a Ozito caulking gun kit with 2.5Ah battery yesterday for $56 (down from $75, but not listed on the website) it was in the painting area

    • Why not list it as a bargain or provide the stock number so others can check local pricing?³

  • +1

Just don't stick your tongue on the terminals. Zap!

  • Dumb ques, will these work with Bosch 18v 2.5Ah charger/battery?

  • +3

This is a good deal because it comes with the fast charger.
The Ozito standard charger is absolute ass, 160 mins for a 4ah

I'm a builder so I have my tool batts around but have bought some Ozito batts on special for the Dyson vacuum.

I feel like Ozito batts are like 5-10 years the behind major tool companies.

However, you can't argue with these deals and ease of dealing with Bunnings for purchase and warranty.

I have a few niche use Ozito power tools for home (edger, backpack sprayer, pole secateurs) and I generally use an AEX converters but I think I'll start accumulating some Ozito batteries and use them where I don't want my tool batts getting smashed (Dyson, kids electric drift cars).

    • In what way are the ozito batteries lacking? Aren't they all using pretty much standard cells?

    • The Ozito battery cells are cheaper than most of the higher end brands but still reliable and the packs have a fairly high build quality.

At between 5-8 dollars per amp (while on sale) it's almost 6 times as cheaper than say standard Milwalkee batteries (as an example).

I doubt like for like there is much difference in the standard batteries. The higher power ones sure but you pay an additional premium on what is already an expensive battery.

      • +1

There is no argument on the cost angle, they are a bargain and awesome bang for buck, especially for what most people on here would be using them for.

They are lacking because there is FAR more to a battery than just the cells.

        1) Build quality, the housing for the Ozito standard batteries is rubbish. I've pulled apart some of my Bosch and Metabo batteries and the internals are night and day. I don't think they have any IP rating at all and would not stand any sort of abuse on a construction site.

        2) BMS - I've pulled apart some of my LiHD and ProCore batteries to repair or shuck and they're pretty hectic inside. Very well made and the BMS systems are somewhat advanced - what this means in layman is better thermal management, longer periods under heavy load, shit that probably doesn't matter to most non-trade users.

        3) Cell quality and sizes - I'm looking at a LiHD 10a and a standard Ozito 4ah and the Ozito is BIGGER lol. Obviously the weight is different but it will be cool when we can get the Ozito Slimline 4ah at that 3 for $99 price point

Now these are things that don't really matter for general home use, but the standard Ozito batteries cannot handle the same type of abuse we give to our batteries at work everyday.

They are built to a cost and for a purpose and that's fine.

I'll happily buy them for many of my use cases but I am still hesitant to use them in my kids electric carts and they wouldn't come near any of my sites.

Like you said, the cost for tool batteries is absolutely exorbitant and I have relied heavily on promotions and deals to build up our companies stash.

A few months ago, junkies broke in to a site we had left our tools at overnight and out of everything on site (we had some really expensive but heavy equipment) they only took all our Bosch Procore batteries and a 6 bay charger, I almost cried.

I'm 98% sure I saw them for sale at Megacash St Marys a few days later….

        • No the batteries aren't designed for trade (ab)use or getting wet. Pcb looks modern and well designed to me, the goop isn't great if you want to repair one but I've had none fail.

I do have better tools than these but I've picked up several Ozito tools 60-80% off on sale and clearance and they do the job, but I am selective.

I'm not going to rush into their mower without the expectation it needs upgrading or repairs, use a battery powered line trimmer and likely not use their circular saw or mitre saw. I think one of their drill presses looked a hard pass as well.

        • 1) Build quality, the housing for the Ozito standard batteries is rubbish. I've pulled apart some of my Bosch and Metabo batteries and the internals are night and day.

Are you sure you taken apart a standard 18V Bosch battery before?! They don't even have balancing or protection BMS!! All they got is a $3 PCB that shows the 3 LED battery level and temperature sensor. The tool does the low voltage cutoff! Batteries probably went through expensive selection and paring process before assembly.

          • @skillet: Hey I never saw this reply, responding for people's future reference.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I was specifically comparing to ProCore and LiHD packs. I actually don't think I own any non ProCore Bosch batteries anymore and agreed, the older batts are garbage.

Like I mentioned above, my use cases are far beyond most on here but ProCore and LiHD batteries are amazing.

They have huge continuous draw ratings and we have alot of power tools these days that require that. My cordless Boschhammers are now pretty much comparable to corded equivalents.

I also use these batteries, mainly the LiHDs, in my kids electric vehicles which all run at 36v. I'm reluctant to use an Ozito battery for this use case and I definitely would not use an older Bosch batt lol.

    • I bought multiple kits over the years, and none came with the standard charger. Feels the only way to buy it is you absolutely need a charger but you're also too cheap to fork the money lol

      • +1

Man, you made me check both my kit chargers because when I checked the current listings for the kits I've bought, you are right, they should all be the fast charger.

Get this, I got a fast charger with the secateurs kit but I got scummed with a standard with my edger + 4ah kit!

        Packaged wrong? Who knows.

I was so angry at Ozito and Bunnings for packaging a trickle charger like that in 2025 but seems like don't do that (intentionally).

I wish I picked up on it at the time, it only really clicked when I read your reply.

My other 2 "Fast Chargers" look different to each other but are the same specs.

        • I got a double charger in one of my kit, can't remember which one, maybe the mower in December deal, I only use this one now, so handy.

  • Hmmmm, I've always wanted to revive my Jet Hopper…

  • +2

Gets mentioned often on Ozito batttery deals, but getting a few of these and an adapter for my old Dyson stick vac was one of the better decisions ive ever made. Cost me much less than an official replacement Dyson battery and works better too (i.e. swapping out batteries when its flat). I only have 2 x 2.5 Ah batteries but found thats enough for the way i use my vac

  • +1

Picked up a bunch of Ozito batts recently, the 3x 4Ah packs along with these for the charger.

Working great with some Ryobi garden tools I picked up during council cleanups.

Using 2x18v with 36V tools and single in 18v tools.

  • anyone can link an adaptor for AEG tools with these batteries ?

  • Are these compatible with all Ozito tools?

    • Says "Compatible with Ozito PXC Range" which is basically their whole current range of 18V tools. It is not compatible with their 12V tools.

This is functionally the same as the standard battery and charger they include with many kits (tool/skin, battery and charger).

If you own a larger power tool or garden tool the 4ah batteries will be more suitable than a 2.5ah.

  • i know ozito is regarded as a cheap brand but for your average person they will work just fine. you dont need a milwaukee for your ikea furniture

  • Can't find any no more

    • Looks like finally OOS. I have updated this deal.
