  • Waiting in anticipation for the first comment… (holds breath)

    Happy Friday everyone :)

    • That's weak sauce. How much for 500/50 ?

      • Well if we get some love on the 25/10, I might consider it!

        • I'll sign up if you can do something for 500/50 for 12 months.

          • @Heybargain: It is $70 p/Month for 12 months currently! Haven’t seen a better price currently advertised?

Might need to ask @iseeyou1312, got some interesting maths happening down there!

            • @Team Triforce: Dodo have you beat again!

              $70*12 = $840 via Arctel

              $72.99*12 - $100 = $775.88 via DoDo with $100 cashback from TopCashBack

Of course, real OzBargainers don't sign up to 12 month plans to begin with ;)

            • @Team Triforce: Tangerine has $58.90 for 6 months. I am also keen in 500mbs one plan.

              • @Shahaniyasir: search for Tangerine deal on ozbargain, look at those negative votes and look for the reason…

  • Any update on when you'll offer home phone lines? That's preventing me from switching atm

    • That’s in the works!

    • Sign up to CrazyTel for VOIP so it's separated and churn internet every 6 months without the worry.

      • Interesting, thanks mate. I don't know much about it, but we need the home phone solely because it's hooked up to our alarm system - do you know if VoIP would work for that?

        • It should work just fine. Get a 2 port ATA, one port for alarm and one port for phone. I think if you purchase ATA from Crazytel directly they can also set it up for you so it's plug and play (though don't quote me on that one).

CrazyTel line rental is $1 per month per number so it's extremely cheap to keep a number when you don't make a lot of calls (just follow PAYG rate for outgoing calls).

There are also VoLTE alternatives to connect legacy alarm systems to phone network. Or though have you consider just replace your alarm system with a modern camera-based home security system instead?

          • @xmagic: or sign up to CrazySaver plan for 0.35c per number

  • Dodo are cheaper. $51.99 for 12 months = $623.88

But a $100 cashback from TopCashBack brings it down to $523.88.

Unsure if bundling brings Dodo down even further.

    Nice try though OP.

  • Off-topic, but there's no attractive price for 100/20.

  • Our 500/50 will downgrade to 100/20 automatically if your location is limited to that speed. At the same price :)

    • Our 500/50 will downgrade to 100/20 automatically

How can you sell 500/50 if you can't provide those speeds?

TIO would be interested to know…

      • Unfortunately I think that one is government sanctioned, but there may be an argument if you live in an OC with a 75 down limit.

  • If your address only supports 100/20… but it’s the same underlying plan / price.

Sorry if that wasn’t made clear!

  • Just a heads-up for anyone switching from Arctel. Despite giving a full month's notice, I was still charged after moving to a new provider. It took a month of constant emails and calls to finally get some refund, and even then, the amount was $10 short. No response from their OzBargain rep either. Proceed with caution.

    • I’m having the exact same issue. I gave my 30-day notice in February and got confirmation that my connection would end on March 8th. Despite that, they’ve charged my card for the entire month of March. They aren’t responding to my emails, and there’s no way to reach them by phone. My connection still not cancelled.

      • @carlJack - Hi Mate, like the above - definitely has been some issues around the process to cancel & credit back. Shoot me a DM & we will get someone to look at your ticket as a priority.

        • Thank you. Its sorted now.

    • Hi Mate, definitely been some teething issues & I am sure there has been some mistakes. I also do miss DM's, but give it a bump & will have someone look at it today! Apologies again if we have made a mistake.

      • Hi Team,
I have issue trying to cancellation and refund. I have sent multiple email and calls but still have heard nothing. It is very frustrated
Could you assist me to resolve this matter. Could you PM me as I am unable to start a conversation.

        Thanks,
        Grace

      • Echoing the above. Gave my notice to cancel 30 days prior start of February, was told it was actioned with a pro rata refund to be issued when it was completed. It’s now mid March, and I was issued a new bill and attempts of charges are being made by them. My service is still not marked as disconnected/canceled too. No sign of the refund too.

I’ve emailed and followed up for the past 2 weeks and have not received a single reply or acknowledgment.

Very poor form of support if you ever need one (or want to leave).

        • DM through your service ID & will ensure it’s resolved ASAP! Apologies!

          • @Team Triforce: Hi rep, same issue here. Have DMed you my service details.

It's still showing active even though I gave notice at the start of February and have moved to another provider on the same port as of March 1. But I was hit with a full charge from Arctel for March, and the way it's looking they'll try and charge me for April as well.

Support team replied quickly and said they'd pass my issue onto Billing, but that was nearly 2 weeks past with no update.

      • I'm experiencing the same issue. The cancellation and refund process has been very frustrating. I've sent you a message, so please help resolve this asap.

Seeing similar complaints from others, I will consider lodging a complaint with the TIO if I don't receive confirmation of my cancellation and refund by mid next week.

    • I think I am going through the same experience. I have cancelled the service but they still charged me full just before the cancellation date, which is March 6. Still my service is not disconnected. I have DMed the rep here. Hope they can help.

PS: I had to switch away because of poor speeds and latency during peak hours. I was on 500/50 and youtube would buffer. That bad.

    • I have the exactly same experience and the billing team never gets back to me. Stay away.

  • Your site states ongoing $63.99

    Cheaper ongoing at Fubar

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/926428

    $50.90 for 25/10

No need to change after 6 or 12 months

    • You need to apply the code at checkout mate :)

Also note they have advised a price increase is likely for the beginning of the new FY (July 2027) p/NBN.

      • What’s the price after 12 months?

        • @Hirolol - Current advertised price after the promotion is set to $63.99. Reality is this will likely go up on the 1/07, which is why is the best time to lock in a 12 month deal!

  • I have recently cancelled with ARCTEL, given some of the stories above (& a week to confirm 30 days cancellation) I await with baited breath…

Performance was the poorest of all the Fibre providers I have tried, when you get faster uploads than downloads it’s not the home networks fault

    CEm

  • Their prices are good, but their customer service is nonexistent. If you need to disconnect your service, they will ask you to email billing, and billing will not reply for a long, long time. They will try to charge you for the next month even after you give them notice and have already moved your service to another provider. I think they need to improve their customer service if they want customers to come back.

    • Hi @imranauz, completely agree! Has definitely been some teething pain in managing the subscriber base we quickly amassed. Unfortunately some systems & processes had gaps & we are working to remediate this. In the interim, please shoot me a DM with the problem & we will get it sorted for you!

  • A happy customer here so far! $65 for 500/40 pack very simple and quick port in from More.

Now you guys scare me when porting out, hope they will improve in time

    • Thanks mate, definitely has been some teething issues on the move out / porting process, but the team is working hard to fix this!

  • Arctel price is not bad but for some reasons it didn't work for my work VPN: it constantly connected me to VPN in other regions e.g. UK or US.

    • Hi Mate, can you DM, we are happy to look into this one for you. You should be able to define / select the region you want? This isn’t defined by the ISP.

  • $5 extra month to opt-out of NAT. Other ISP's are doing it for free!

    • $5 extra for a static IP, we do not offer dynamic IP currently…

  • Be aware that they have some weird non traditional way of doing things when opting out of CGNAT and things may not still work when paying $5 a month with them for a so called Static iP. From a Whirlpool user who moved-

This is what Arctel give you when you opt out of CGNAT.
You get a 10. on some private LAN, linked to a CGNAT address that is then static for you.
If you ask, they will route all traffic from the 103. to the 10.

Not quite what I was after for $5pm, so I left

This combined with the billing issues would be a steer clear for me until these are addressed.

    • Hi Mate, this is the standard method for removing CG-NAT, DM & happy to discuss your concern / impact in more detail?

      • why have you charged me again after i have cancelled and given my 30 days notice??????? there is a recent post on here with multiple others who you have continued to charge after them cancelling? will be contacting the tio tomorrow! not a good look arctel!

  • Having the exact same issue as so many here have posted. I would not go with Arctel again. I gave MORE than the 30 day notice required to cancel and received a confirmation that my service will be cancelled and pro rata refund received. Instead I was charged $65 for a full new month. Have been emailing for almost 2 weeks with still no refund processed. They just email back to say they will provide an update when it’s available. When I called their customer service team today got someone really rude who said I’ve been told before it will be refunded. I said I understand that but how long am I meant to wait for this as it’s already been almost 2 weeks with no reply that it’s been actioned. Huge waste of time having to follow up so much and still not even processed now.

    • Submit a complaint via the TIO, they'll get notified and have to action it quickly.
      https://www.tio.com.au/complaints

They also will get charged a fee for each complaint. We've already given them more than enough time and chances to resolve the issue and they have not been proactive or even reply at all.

      • Ooo thank you so much, I will do that

      • Thanks mate I wish I have used the revolute debit card in the first place.

    • Hi Mate,

Apologies for the inconvenience here - the refunds are being triggered manually & taking longer than acceptable to process.

DM me you’re service ID & will organise this on expedited on Monday for you 👍🏽

Sorry once again, bit of a learning curve for us, which isn’t your fault!

      • Hi there, just reaching out as it’s almost close of business Monday. I sent you a DM 3 days ago but haven’t received a response yet. I also still haven’t been helped by any Arctel staff today or received any communication that a refund has been processed.

        • Just lodge a formal complaint. Waiting and hoping they’ll fix the issue is only wasting your time and will delay things further. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but that turned out to be the wrong call.

          • @minime123: Yeah I lodged yesterday after I still wasn’t helped on Monday. How long have you been waiting for the refund now?

            • @Hokage: 10 days.

              • @minime123: Mine’s 15 days now

                • @Hokage: Coming up to 3 weeks here..

                  • @ausmisc: Holy moly. That’s really bad ngl

                    • @Hokage: Just an update if anyone is still following this, I was just billed for a SECOND full month of service, so another $65, only 3 weeks after the first incorrect charge. Have still not received a refund for the first charge and Arctel has just charged for a second full month as well.

                      • @Hokage: Same boat here. Just got charged for a 2nd month of service after I cancelled the service. Even while I had service it use to drop out frequently. Stay away from this provider as it'll only cause you headaches.

                      • @Hokage: yep i cancelled and gave my 30 days notice and they have charged me again last night,

                      • @Hokage: Same here. The complaint I lodged with the TIO is due to be resolved by 10/04, but Arctel has been dead quiet. I don’t think it’ll be resolved, but I’ll keep you posted.

                        • @minime123: Same, they've also charged me the second months after cancellation. They did keep ignoring my support emails, even after making a complaint with TIO, they are still silent.

                            • @BargainHunterD: Yeah they are not even waiting a full month between incorrect charges. I’ve been charged for 2 entire months of service within 3 weeks of each other

                        • @minime123: Yep mine is due to be resolved 9th April but haven’t been contacted a single time from Arctel and yeah last night got the second charge for a second month too. Sooo terrible

                          • @Hokage: I’m assuming your issue still hasn’t been resolved today?

                            • @minime123: Correct I didn’t receive any communication and it wasn’t resolved by the due date. On 10th April Arctel finally sent an email only to say they “acknowledge” my TIO claim, and “Once the refund has been successfully processed, your Arctel account will be updated accordingly.”
Wasn’t happy as there was no point in sending this email that pretty much said a refund STILL has not been done. Called TIO to report that no refund has been processed or confirmed, and also that my Arctel account still shows an active service, and that afternoon (assuming after TIO contacted Arctel?) Arctel finally sent an email asking for bank details to process a refund. I replied straight away but no response after that. Who knows how long it will take or if it will even be done.

How did yours go by the 10th?

                              • @Hokage: For me, they processed the refund just before the end of the day and my account is now showing as cancelled.

It doesn’t make sense that they had to ask for your bank details, especially since they should already have them from the direct debit setup. They didn’t need to ask for mine which makes me feel like they may just be buying time with you.

Also, my pro-rata refund is short by ~$2 so I’m planning to escalate that with the TIO. I intend to get every cent back from them.

  • For those being overcharged and double charged besides the TIO if you've used a CC do a chargeback.

  • I was with Arctel for about 6 months on a different NBN plan before switching providers. I’m currently still being charged beyond the agreed end date and have reached out a few times for clarification, but haven’t received a response yet. Hoping to get this sorted soon. CC: @Team Triforce

    • I’ve got a feeling they'll charge me for the 2nd time after the termination date. Any idea how I can prevent that?

      • If you paid via CC speak to your bank. TIO.

  • It doesn't look like I've been charged for April yet even though my account is still showing as active (I churned 1st of March on same FTTP port).

Just waiting to see if they'll refund my payment for March as I gave notice on the 4th of February that I wanted to terminate my service at the end of that month.

  • Hi All,

We are aware of multiple scenarios, which have led to incorrect charges or billing issues.

This process is on its way back in-house & we are working to resolve the pending cases with the external billing provider as a priority.

If you have a pending issue, please send an email directly to billing@arctel.com.au, it is out intention to ensure any overpayments are refunded in full.

Further to this, we will also be announcing the end of the 30-day notice period imminently.

We appreciate your patience & also apologise unreservedly for the incorrect charges & delays with the billing team.

    Cheers!
    ARCTEL Team

    • Haven’t you said this before to individuals in various threads and then have gone radio silent on them without fixing their over charging and continuing to charge for cancelled services.

      • Hi Mate,

We have been actively working away in the background & closing off the cases as quickly as possible.

Apologies, have not kept up here with the public comments.

If you are still having an issue, please email through, or drop a DM & I will ensure I am across the cases to resolve as a priority this week!

We are well aware of the issue, we have made changes & confident this won't be an issue moving forwards.

        Cheers!
        H

        • Chiming in to say this is not a helpful comment, you keep saying to email billing@arctel.com.au, however they don’t respond for almost a month at a time and then do not actually help you. In addition, the DM you told me to send to you on 20th of March that would be “expedited”, remains unanswered. So really the help you keep mentioning isn’t accessible. Altogether now it’s been over 5 weeks since my issue and it’s still not resolved or a refund in sight.

          • @Hokage: Hi Mate,

100%, apologies I missed your message - DM acknowledged & update shared.

            Aiming to be resolved tomorrow.

            • @Team Triforce: Hi, this still wasn’t resolved today …

              • @Hokage: Why make promises when you cant keep them. Just makes a bad situation look worse, if thats even possible.

              • @Hokage: Hi Mate, have shared details regarding your case in a DM. Unfortunately as the matter has been escalated externally, we are unable to process an instant refund.

                • @Team Triforce: Add one to the list, got DM saying money would be refunded last week, that's after 2 month of over charges and no one contacted me to have it fixed. And after all the promise, still no refund. I even had to sign a paper for the eft transfer… more waste of time.

                  • @Frozensage: Hi Mate, have DM’d you an update & resolution to this. We apologise for the delay that processing some of the refunds / cancellations has taken.

                • @Team Triforce: Hi, can you please respond to the DM and provide assistance.

    • Appreciate the help and assistance in waiving the 30-day notice period.

      Cheers

      • Thanks mate, we are definitely not perfect but the team has been working really hard in the background to make the experience a lot smoother!

  • I got my refund today, after I was charged for an extra month despite giving a month's notice of leaving.

Had to get the TIA involved and then escalate again as Arctel hadn't resolved it in the timeframe they said it would. It took about 55 days in total to get my money back.

    • Looks to be common tactics by this brand. Stay away from it
