  • Thx Hippo. Bonus tracked in same email.

  • Thanks OP.

Bonus tracking came in a separate email a few minutes after original tracking. Weirdly one bonus is currently missing despite it being a 4×card transaction. Hopefully gets resolved automatically.

  • Any limits on any of these?

    • I bought twice , both with bonus cash back shown.

  • Any reports EG cards have stopped working at Woolworths?

    • +2

All good here as of 7 days ago.

    • Why get the EG card? The WW one has the same total cashback this time.

      • +2

Because it can work at either EG or WW so you have options as long as it works at WW.

        • Can the EG gift card be added to the Everyday Rewards app for convenience and tracking?

          • +1

@topherboi: Yep, just like any woolworths group of cards (WW, BigW, Dan Murphys, Wish, BWS, etc)

      • Oops I missed that they are the same, hope they don't end the WW functionality on the EG

I've been meaning to look into this for a while. I hate physical cards with scraps of remaining balances that never get used up - kills the value of any discount or I have to buy something exactly the right price. Is there an app/system where you can add cards to a cumulative balance? Like, if I have $2.50 left on a card and buy a new one the balance goes up to $1002.50?

    • You can store the Woolworths group ones on the everyday rewards app. It tells you how much you have left on each card and the pin etc

With coles ones, you select gift card payment, scan the one with pennies on it, it will pop up and say you only have xx on this card would you like to proceed? You say yes, and it changes the transaction to the balance of the card. Easy , then you pay for the rest however way

      • +2

oh I didn't know that, thanks!

I store mine Coles one in Supercards, it.works better at the registers, the only bugga is having to.manually update the balance in the card title.

        • Run it straight from the SB app. It'll automatically deduct the transaction and included the remaining balance in-app.

@KangaDrew: both my local.coles' can't read the bar code either from SB app or the PDF on screen.

            • @M00Cow: Either can mine, but if you find a register with the flybuys infrared scanner attached, most have 1 or 2, it works on those

I'm building an app to help with this!

    • At Coles and WW you just need to select split payment at the self checkout, you then select gift card and enter the balance left on the gift card and then it will send you back to the payment screen and again you can do another split payment if you have multiple small value gift cards.
Also as someone else said for WW store them in your rewards app, the balance is instantly live after spending and it has the PIN number there. As for coles their gift cards are not as easy to manage/check balance and you still can't use online… Have been using WW ones for 6+ years online - I have no idea why they are so behind.

      • Yeah but if you’ve got multiple cards anyway , you don’t need to keep a running balance at Coles on the one you’re using , if you attempt full payment an have less on the gift card, it tells you and automatically alters to a split payment for the remaining balance . Appreciate it’s still nice to keep track

      • WW store them in your rewards app, the balance is instantly live after spending

The app implementation is very handy, however it's not fully live updated (not for me at any rate).

Shopped today and the voucher balances updated about 5min after leaving the store.

Unlikely to be a problem, except a recent time when I was using multiple vouchers and lost track of where I was up to. Live balance would have been extremely useful then.

  • I buy my gift cards for Woolworths direct from student beans link.

This is a discount the same as this cashback but don't have to waste time tracking .

  • Can this be used muliple times?

  • Is it worth making a bank account in any of these banks (Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA ) just to get 5% off coles gift cards? Is this a regular thing?

These banks often have new customer sign on bonuses to maximise your profits eg this is current:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/949928

I keep an account open solely for these offers, then transfer money in to buy the gift cards. The bank account currently charges no fees so it works well for me.

      • Thanks both for the replies, much appreciated!
If Im opening a bank account solely for these purposes which bank do you recommend? (i,e, which account has the best perks)

Westpac, St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA?

        • I've had accounts with 3 and there are more perks with Westpac 'eg Injust got a spend' cashback offer which I never did with the other 2. Occasionally the Shopback offers are Westpac specific. I've also kept Westpac as their app is easiest to use.

  • I can't get Coles to work

    • Me either. Go to gift card portal. I’m assuming you search coles and it will work but I’m not willing to take the risk.

      • I just bought Coles via Westpac and the Westpac bonus tracked within 5 minutes. The base cashback has not tracked yet but I'm not worried about that.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Shopback app giftcard notes gone?
A little off the topic, but has the option to add notes to purchased giftcards been removed?

  • When I go to buy, despite offer shown and a bankSA visa attached, BUY NOW leads to a “this offer is not available to you” ? (Woolworths $100 GC)

  • 75 days for cashback, this is getting silly!

  • Does this show up as Shopback with our bank statement, or the respective store?

  • -4

You are better off putting the money in the bank than buying the gift cards if gift cards only gives you 5% off. Well unless your IR is less than 5%.

    • 5% per annum vs 5% per shopping here?

      • -1

Plus the time to track and actually get cashback

        • I usually use it within a two to three months so I'm ahead. I usually get cashback before the interest free days on credit cards runs out.

        • @Cheehoo it tracks within a week max and cashback comes in within 3 weeks max. I cashout when i use up my $500 giftcard and when buying a new one. works well with what i want to do but ok if you think its not worth it.

        • I bought a Coles voucher a few days ago. The base cashback was confirmed same day, the bonus cashback was confirmed after 4 days.

  • When's the next one? I thought it was monthly.
