get from Aliexpress for less than $50.

inb4 op claiming theirs is superior or different.

for the love of god get something from a reputable brand that will actually protect you.

Fair enough; riders should always choose gear they trust.

For anyone wanting independent feedback, we’ve linked our eBay store in the post so people can look through reviews from riders who have actually bought and used the gear. Some reviews also mention riders who have unfortunately had the chance to test them in real-world situations. We prefer pointing to third-party feedback rather than just claims on our own website.

    Thanks grabbed a pair

  • From someone who has been riding for 25+ years, do yourself a favour. Go out and buy gear that has been properly, independently tested. Nobody ever been taken out by a moron at an intersection, woken up in hospital and thought, "Damn! I wish I had saved $200 on my riding jeans!".

    https://motocap.com.au/

When even expensive, big name gear often miserably fails independent testing, it doesn't take a genius to understand that cheap, generic gear obviously wont keep your skin attached.

It pains me to be a hater, but when the website FAQ says this:

"17. Are MOTROX products certified for safety?
Yes — safety is the heart of everything we build.
Motrox gear is designed to meet or exceed international safety standards, ensuring you ride protected on every journey.
Our suits are rigorously tested for impact resistance, abrasion durability, and real-world performance — because when it’s your life on the line, there’s no room for compromise."

and provides no verification to back up the statement whatsoever, I would be HIGHLY dubious.
Google "Abrasion CE ratings" to learn about actual certification.

    • Appreciate your comment and honestly it’s good to see people caring about fellow OzBargainers and rider safety. That kind of community mindset is something I genuinely appreciate.

Just to clarify a few things for anyone reading the deal:

      • MotoCAP is an independent testing program that selects products through market surveillance, though manufacturers can also commission testing. Not every product on the market has been MotoCAP tested, nor is it a mandatory requirement for motorcycle gear to be sold.

      • Our riding jeans use genuine Kevlar® reinforcement in key abrasion zones (seat, hips and knees) together with CE-certified armour (EN 1621-1) for impact protection, and we hold supplier documentation confirming the Kevlar® materials used.

      • Motrox has been supplying motorcycle gear in the UK for over 15+ years, and we have recently expanded into Australia. Our products carry CE and UKCA compliance where applicable.

We absolutely encourage riders to research their gear and ask questions. If anyone can’t find certain information or wants more details about materials, armour or construction used in the jeans, feel free to ask and I’ll happily point you in the right direction.

Ultimately every rider should choose gear they feel confident in. Our aim with Motrox is simply to make protective riding gear accessible without the extreme price tags, while still using proper protective materials.

Out of curiosity if you've recently moved into this market, is there any reason you're not looking to commission MotoCap to test some of your gear? It seems to me a strong MotoCap endorsement would be just about the best piece of infomation you could supply to savvy australian motorcycle gear consumers.

Is the cost to supply the items the issue? Are the fees assosciated with the commission of testing just too much for a budget gear supplier? Or do you not think your gear would fare particularly well in their test process?

I say this as someone who wishes MotoCap had more of the readily available gear in this market tested and in their system, as i've followed their testing process for some time and put a decent amount of faith in their results.

I'm not opposed to cheap gear, or gear which punches above it's weight. And the big gear suppliers routinely produce poorly protective gear and sell it for $$$ so i've never subscribed to the "Spend as much as you think X body part is worth" logic. But it would be a hard sell to pick your particular brand of budget moto jeans over any other given how many manufacturers there are in this space and how similar their products all seem to be (Essentially regular jeans with kevlar patches under some specific areas, sometimes with an ugly and awkward stretch panel around the knee to accomodate the riding position).

        • Appreciate the detailed comment; you’ve raised a very fair point.

MotoCAP is something we’re genuinely interested in and have been looking into. It’s not a case of avoiding it or concerns around performance; especially when materials and components already meet established standards (e.g. CE-rated armour, UKCA/CE compliant elements where applicable).

The main challenge so far has been prioritisation while scaling into the Australian market. Since launch here, we’ve been heavily focused on fulfilling/meeting demand, but independent testing like MotoCAP is definitely on our radar as the next step.

If you’ve had any experience or insight into the MotoCAP process, I’d genuinely appreciate your input as well; always open to learning more.

In the meantime, we try to be as transparent as possible around construction.

Thanks again for taking the time, indeed a valuable discussion.

So spend an extra $200 for "gear (that) often miserably fails independent testing"?? - yep that sounds like typical OzBargainer logic. As long as I'm buying clothing that strokes my ego and helps me feel superior to everyone else, then I'm happy.

Or, you know. Maybe put the extra $200 into rider training so you learn how to avoid the morons in the first place?

I get where you're coming from, but cost/benefit/risk analysis is always gonna be highly individual and highly complex for riding gear. It's bad enough as it is for helmets which supposedly have legislated safety standards. Is a $2000 helmet gonna be 20 times better than a $100 helmet when they both meet the same standard? If I crash and get brain damage, am I gonna regret that I didn't spend the 2K? If I can't afford the $2k, should I not get a bike in the first place? Should I replace the helmet in 1 year? 5 years? 10? etc etc.

It sure would be nice if we had a system that allows only the safest of products to be sold to consumers at the most reasonable of prices. But we don't.

But sure. If you feel safer because you can afford to spend a lot of money with companies who use slightly better marketing BS, then all power to you. I guess us reckless types will stick with the cheap and/or old stuff and drive your insurance premium up when we crash and die.

I started writing a response and then realised that you don't actually want to understand what I wrote.
        You do you brother.

        • +1

"Go out and buy gear that has been properly, independently tested" - you're not a rocket surgeon my dude. Its not that hard to understand. :)

But you also included a whole lot of waffle about price/cost. And some waffle about false advertising/unverifiable claims.

Don't take it personally and get butt hurt about it. That also seems to be peak-OzBargain behaviour. Its just an internet conversation. Just my opinion. And I haven't made any personal attacks. I'm sorry if i come across a bit harsh. I just get annoyed by the attitudes in here sometimes.

You basically contradict yourself by saying along the lines of "don't skimp on good gear" but also "paying more is no guarantee you will get good gear"

I have more criticisms of the reliance on motocap but you haven't addressed my initial ones.

Is it that you think i don't understand what you wrote? Or is it that you don't really have an answer for the points I raised about helmets?

I would genuinely love to see some data around whether that scheme has actuallyhelped reduce injuries. I might have to go look a bit harder.

I genuinely think the idea of independent testing is a great idea. So is having actual standards. But the huge number of variables makes the current system almost pointless imho. Happy to stand corrected if the data says otherwise though..
