  • Thanks. Got a bunch of collectibles that I've been holding off.

  • Nice one, thanks OP!

    • What is this comment? I looked at the linked site and saw: Movies / Television, Music, Hobbies, Merch & Fashion, Games, Tech, Electric appliances & Books. Many of the items I saw were well below retail in Aus.

I agree, their search is absolute trash. You have to instead scroll through and select the right category and then scroll through pages of results until you find why are you looking for. Unfortunately this site uses Google translate in its rawest form for its English site hence why the search bar is useless

  • I've been toying with the idea of buying some Japanese rail sets and building a collection for my son but don't know where to start.

Do I just buy any set/trains and you can build as you like?

    • idk myself but when I visited a train shop in japan for a friend, i spoke the to the sales person who mentioned that there are trains with locomotive or like an engine too and also things like what model do you want, do want the Shinkansen, or the standard train, but best to some research online like Gemini might be helpful

    • If you are buying full sets that include the transformer, be aware some are only 100/110V and wont work here. The trains themselves are fine.

      • I think I'm just after battery operated but thanks for looking out!

    • With Plarail they usually they have starter sets, and then you buy more packs of track pieces, as well as individual items like bridges, railway crossings, signals and stations. AFAIK they all use either AA or C batteries, including the stations. I don't think I've seen one with a plug-in transformer.

Here's a great promo video from all the way back in 1990 about how this stuff works, and the train sets on offer back then.

Tip: Get one of the big stations as well, like this one:

What about their shipping cost? Reasonable or over-priced?

      “Free EMS Shipping”

Shipping can't be any more reasonable than free. There is a Y900 transaction fee per order though,

  • Any recommendations on a “freight forwarder” from Japan to Australia, wanted to buy some Japanese clothing that don’t deliver internationally, any experiences or advice would be welcomed.

      Buyee

      Theres a ton.

      WorldShopping
      Buyee
      WhiteRabbit
      Neokyo

      They're all very much similar.

      • Thanks guys, I guess I will have to give it a crack and hope for the best ☺️

        • Holla if you need a hand, but I've used all those I listed except Neokyo, and despite their website being quite bad (most Japanese sites are), Buyee has been probably the best.

  • Thank you. Got some great savings on a bunch of cds

  • OMG my order got cancelled and refunded :(
they flag my Revolut virtual card as suspicious. Need to reorder again using a different card.

By the way for PLARAIL, searching
PLARAIL R- will get all the rails, straight, turns, etc.
PLARAIL J- for the scenery like tunnel, railway crossing, train station etc.
    PLARAIL S- for the trains
PLARAIL TS- for Thomas the tank engine trains

    • That's really helpful thanks mate

  • I've spent probably $2000 on this site over the past year, the 'specials' happen every month/second month along with the free shipping promotion so I never posted it as a deal - its basically 'normal' price to trigger your FOMO.

    Still love it though :)

  • Trying to checkout, entered shipping and payment info, but proceeding loops me back to entering shipping info again. Anyone experiencing this as well?

    • issue sorted itself out after a while, although none of my visa cards worked. Had to use paypal.
