Bugger. Next cheapest here for US$155.37 (~A$221.96) with same codes.

      • I imagine it was popular at that price and they put up a certain number at that price so not surprised it went fast. Little surprised at just how fast though lol.

        • Aaaand now it's back. They were kind enough to add more :)

  • If I'm sitting on a 5600x and 3080, should I be looking for a 5800x3d or would this suffice?

Primary interest is for improving Paradox strategy games like Stellaris at 4k.

    • +1

I'm getting this to replace a 5600X in a 3080 build too. When I checked benchmarks, reviews etc at the time of the previous deals there seemed to be a jump in framerates. Especially low 1%'s etc.

      • The alternative is taking advantage of your 9800x3d deal and doing a jump to am5 with new motherboard. Already have ddr5 from last year :)

        • +2

That would be a better/longer term solution if you already have most of everything else, especially the DDR5. The 3080 would be a bottleneck for something more demanding like Cyberpunk 2077, but not Stellaris. I'd say do it :)

        • I sold my DDR5 and 3080 and bought a 9070xt instead!

Depends what resolution you game at though, I have it plugged into the TV at 4K. The CPU isn't doing as much there.

    • Can you even find a new 5800x3d anymore?

      • +1

No and those on Ebay are incredibly over priced.

The ship has sailed for cheap 5800X3D, 5700X3D, 5600X3D chips.

The 5500X3D will likely be the last Ryzen 5000 X3D chip.

So if you game and intend to be on AM4 for the next few years, get the 5500X3D now or miss out on cheap X3D.

    • I had almost this exact spec upgrade done at home (to 5700X3D)

Its was about a 20 percent improvement.

The machine was then upgraded to a 9800X3D but its a similar jump and I cant see any reason to upgrade the 3080 at the moment.

  • +1

Crazy good this price considering the economy for PC hardware and other things going on.

  • Damn i have 3700x but this may not be a good upgrade for multithreaded use.

  • mid 2024 5700X3D was on sale with this price …

    • +5

And RAM was 5x cheaper. Welcome to the AI boom.

      • -2

5700x3D going out of production ~2 years ago had nothing to do with the AI boom

        • I've said countless times that ended production and it's why we don't see it anymore. This is a rebinned 5600X3D that's a rebinned 5700X3D and so forth. Thanks to the AI boom we're seeing prices increase across the whole industry for both already produced and newly produced components.

          • @Clear:

            This is a rebinned 5600X3D that's a rebinned 5700X3D and so forth

that's just not true. 6 cores vs 8 cores can't be labelled "rebins"

            • @xrailgun: Yeah that was poor wording. They aren’t rebins of each other. The 5500X3D/5600X3D/5700X3D/5800X3D are just different bins of the same Zen 3 V Cache silicon with the 5500X3D and 5600X3D having two cores disabled.

  • Damn ordered at full price. Arriving tomorrow

  • Have a 5600x and 3070ti. Worth upgrading? Kinda regret not upgrading to 5800x3d earlier, and jumping ship to AM5 is not feasible for me yet.

    • +1

Yeah you'll get a jump in framerates for a lot of games and will help with future games. Obviously if you're doing multitasking where cores/threads matter more this isn't an upgrade.

  • +1

Bought a 5700X mid last year on Ali Express deal.
Would this be worthwhile? (Paired with a 5070TI)

    • +1

Also thinking this might be a good buy for a steam machine alternative …

  • +1

have a 3700x and rx6800 non XT just bought a 9070xt would this be good?

    • 5 series is immensely better for gaming. Especially this x3d. 3700x is only good office tasks and not so much gaming

  • Showing as US $165.98 on store page. I then apply the AUSS30 coupon and takes it to US $163.45 (so $20 US discount then add on GST).

    That makes it $231.41 AUD…?

    Is the deal over?

    • PayPal discount has ended

      • It’s still there, I just forgot to add it. Managed to checkout at US $147.19. May want to revoke that expired mark.

        Thanks Clear!

  • After missing out on numerous other deals I finally pulled the plug
    Total:AU$219.73

Upgrading from R53600 paired with RTX3090 which has been working just fine

This will be an excuse to finally clean my PC

    • Yep same, replacing my ol reliable 3600.

Need to work on my GPU next as I’m still rocking a 1070 TI which stopped receiving updates as of 2025.

      • Might be a blessing if you've seen how bad the latest Nvidia drivers are.

Thanks for posting the deal @Clear now I can move on from a 13 y/o i5 3570k with a failing motherboard that keeps BSoD-ing and dead GTX 670 so using iGPU.

    • +1

Whew, really making that rig go the distance!

    • I forgot the referral part on TCB UK :(

    • Can people in Aus use top cashback UK?

      • +1

Yes it seems so, first time using but my order did track on there. Apparently you can cash out using Paypal to convert GBP - AUD before withdrawing to bank.
This is the deal I used that's now expired:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/952105

  • Thanks OP, upgrading from 3700x

  • Thanks, I ordered one too. I've always shyed away from these deals because I have trust issues but we're running out of options now.

  • Wonder if its worth an upgrade from a 5600 (non-X) - have two kids gaming computers running 1080p rocket league/fortnite etc.

  • Slight off topic but do many Ryzen 9 5900XT deals come up? There doesn't seem to be many suppliers left on AliExpress selling them

  • Any decent budget mobos for this on ali express?

  • +1

Installed mine today to replace a r5 2600. Works well

    • Also installed mine. 2 days playing Assetto Corsa EVO and there is an improvement. Coming from a 3600.
      No issues at all!
