For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

AliExpress trade in USD and setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results may result in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate.

  • Too many options Clear! Now I gotta pick b/w upgrading and then 7800x3d or 9800x3d. $150 diff. for ~5-10% sigh

    • Same! Deciding between the two. I'm on a 4K monitor so I'm probably just gonna save the cash diff tbh as it won't see that much gain, but if you do other productivity tasks maybe this would be more worthy. Keep in mind that Shopback has a 21% (14% for returning users) cashback limited to $50 so that's slightly better than TopCashback limit of $30.

    • I'm on a 7800x3d but I want a 9800x3d for the memory controller as I'm running 4x 32gb sticks… is it worth it….

  • Wonder why the coupon codes don’t apply to this store’s 7800x3d…. But do to this 9800

    • Sellers can opt out of coupon usage for some products. This deal specifically was negotiated with AliExpress and they're taking some of the hit, unlike the other listings where they wouldn't.

  • You cant use cash back and coupon codes on same purchase though right?

I've had a few rejections for that

    • You can with AliExpress and TopCashback if the products are affiliated.

    • Can you elaborate in detail which items and what codes you used for your rejections?

Clear says all codes won't invalidate

      • it was with those codes on the ali home page like au505 and just random items

if I understood him, hes saying if the specific product is part of a topcashback sale then it's fine to use the alicodes on them

As with all aliexpress goods, you can expect no warranty other than a basic DOA…
there are a non insignficant number of 9800x3d dying / frying particularly on Asrock boards.. but others such as Asus

    • Amazon has one selling at $659

  • I'm not in the market currently for a build as I'm all set for now but I am just curious in case the time comes that I will be,

Does it just come down to guts when buying this? As mentioned above DOA shouldn't be too hard but has anyone ever had problems with theirs down the line? And how did that go?

  • um, topcashback has 29% cashback right now???????

    possibly uncapped?

which is bullshit if AU only doing max $30 cashback vs UK $150 cashback on this $500 item!

  • OOS

    • Darn, wanted to try with the top cash back UK cash back :(
