1800

New banner added to the Judo Bank savings webpage. Currently savings rate is 5.10%, so this will increase it to 5.35% p.a. from 23 March 2026

Following the recent Reserve Bank of Australia cash rate announcement, Judo Bank will increase variable interest rates on its savings products by 0.25% p.a. for new and existing Savings Account customers, effective 23 March 2026. Rates displayed on our website have not yet been updated to reflect this change.

Assume it to be the same bonus structure as it is currently, so 5.30% p.a. bonus rate +0.05% p.a. base rate.

The increase is effective six days after the RBA's announcement, unlike Macquarie who are taking 16 days to action it. No word yet from ING - has the crown been knocked off? ING are increasing their rate to 5.25% from 27 March 2026, thanks bobbyz0r

    • that would buy you a couple of litres of petrol!

    • Give it a rest dude, you have a similar' $250k is pittance' comment in another thread.

    • What beats it?

  • Never heard of them? Are they secure?

    • They are pretty reputable and their board are incredibly transparent on outcomes and deliverables. Customer service is as you'd expect from a minor bank but nothing worth leaving for. I registered for their IPO but haven't pulled the trigger because I'm waiting for some advice.

If you're wondering how I know all of this, well, I guess you could say that I know my Judo well.

(Disclaimer; I do not know my Judo [banking or martial arts] well… I spent more on this comment than I did on last night's meal)

      • What did you have for last nights meal? A succulent Chinese?

      • They’ve been listed for a few years now?

        • Correct

      • Do they support Osko?

        • No.

    • They are covered under the Financial Claims Scheme, so your money is government backed up to $250k

      • this is the main thing. They are going to get a few new customers. Macq banks 4 month is finishing soon for me.

  • I see you know your judo well…

    • Tata farewell

    • Damn, beat me to it!

    • this is democrrrrracy manifest

    • Get your hands off my savings.

      • Are you waiting to receive my limp savings advice?

  • ING is announced here - 5.25% pa from 27/03/2026.

    • Ah good find - I was looking on their Savings Maximiser page and there was no update. Judo is still coming out on top (unless you're an ING new customer), so I guess I am sticking with them for another month.

  • Does Judo Bank Personal Savings Account support PayID payment or fast payment?

    • I do not believe so - think you have a nominated account which you can transfer to. I don't believe that you can transfer to other people from the Personal Savings Account at this stage?

      • Do the payments arrive in the linked account instantly or the next business day?

        • As it isn't osko it is not instant

        • Transfer takes a few business hours in my experience so far

        • Transferred money from ANZ and ubank and took about half a day from both.

          • @onetwothreefour: Any ideas of the limits the other way?
Ie. How fast can move on..
Macquarie and Rabo are $100k per dar off memory.

            • @tunzafun001: No sorry, I'm a bit late to the party and only joined judo bank a couple of weeks ago so haven't transferred out yet.

              • @onetwothreefour: All good, someone else answered it above.
Need to contact them and they can transfer your full balance in one shot.

                • note- do a $1 outbound transaction beforehand to make the large transfer go faster (banks hold the first transaction for up to 48hrs for fraud protection). Once its green flagged, future transactions go faster.
                • @tunzafun001: Yeah I did the same thing when I transferred from ANZ and ubank, both of the banks had messages saying they couldn't confirm the bank account details, maybe because it was so new, but I transferred $1 from both banks as a trial then when that money arrived I transferred everything else.

    • I have used them for about 2 weeks. No instant payments right now. From my personal experience, transfers between the nominated account and Judo take between a few hours to 24 hrs. Its the one downside I've found with them so far.

      • Do they have a transaction account with Osko so you can transfer internally from Personal Savings Account?

Like ING OE to SM account arrangement.

Maybe Judo Personal Savings Account can have only one transfer out account called linked account which has to be with another bank.

      • the other downside I realised is you can't really deposit or get money on weekends as they only process payments during business hours (weekdays/non-PH days).

    • No.

    • No… Their Tech is poor. Would have plenty more customers if they had better tech forsure

  • Hm maybe it’s time to switch from commbank. Thoughts?

    • if comparing by savings rate then for sure!!

    • As a savings only bank sure, as your everyday banking I would probs look to ING or MACQ, giving the edge to the latter since you get access to the macq market place and earn interest in both transaction and savings account for everyday.

      • Was just looking at a savings account. Did not know about the marketplace, will read up on them then. Thanks.

      • Or HomeME has been consistently higher than macq with osko and basically no hoops

    • Commbank is appalling. Not even close.

    • Thoughts?

My main thought is "who the hell keeps their savings with Commbank? Do you not like money?"

So yes, switch away. As someone else said, use Macquarie if you need a high savings account with everyday transaction features and instant liquidity. Use Judo if you want to just park some savings for a while without needing quick/instant access. I'd suggest a mix of both - keep an amount in Macq to cover everyday expenses and any unforseen costs that require quick access to funds, then put the rest in Judo. Set up a $300 monthly scheduled transfer from Macq to Judo so you always qualify for the bonus rate.

      • That sounds like a great idea. I never would have though tbh thanks for the tips. Anything to look out for tho? Like I just have 25k in savings and 15k in regular account on commbank atm.

        • Depends on your spending habits and how bothered you are max out your benefits, if you're not one to really care too much open a Macq and be done with it, zero hoops and you earn interest for both spending and savings, it won't be the best rates out there but it will be decent.

If you're bothered use Macq as spending (since you get interest for your spending as well) and access to the market place, park your savings to whichever trustworthy bank that has the better rate, schedule whatever transfers you need to meet the minimum requirement (or number of transactions) to meet the bonus.

It costs nothing to open a bank account, just time it with some offer (refer friend get $$$…etc)

          Optional min-maxing:
Get credit card for your everyday spending with a half decent rewards program so that you can max out the interest you can get and get points whilst you're at it. Interest is calculated daily so the longer your $$$ is in the bank the more you get even though it would be minimal.

Split Amex and Credit card for everyday spending to build points if you want to go all out since some plces don't accept amex or they charge you extra…etc

        • Brother!! You are leaving so much money on the table just by leaving 15k in your transaction account that accrues zero interest.

It takes literal seconds to transfer from your savings to transaction account on CommBank. There should be zero reason to keep more than a couple hundred at a time in your spending account. It's a safety measure too, if someone nicks your card they won't be able to spend much before running out of money.

15k at 5% interest is close to losing out on $500 every year for something that takes seconds.

      • also they don't require actual +300$ growth - only transaction, so you can transfer 300 into it and then withdraw it back if you need money elsewhere

        • I didn't mention that cause I wasn't sure if Judo offer scheduled transfers, and wanted to keep things more "set and forget". But yes, it's only $300 deposit required, not account growth.

      • I keep Commbank too for branch access. To avoid fees each month $2000 goes in on day 2 and comes out on day 3.

    • switch to Macquarie first, when their honeymoon expires, switch elsewhere.

    • Comm bank is pathetic so no comparison

  • waiting for mebank's move :3

  • I can finally move out of BoQ

  • seems like judo is the leading interest rate with less hoops now

    • Yes, just have to factor in lost interest days when moving money.

      • Do any transfers early-ish in the day, and the funds will be appear the same day, both in and out

        Weekdays only, I think

        • Yes, Monday to Friday only. Weekend transfer will be processed on Monday.
I just opened an account with them last week.

  • Regarding OP's post:

    • No linked accounts required
    • No minimum card purchases

You DO need to link an account. They call it the nominated account. You can ONLY transfer to and from this one account.
There are no minimum card purchases because they don't give you a transaction account or card. Your nominated account is what you use everyday and Judo acts as the savings account only.

    • I've not tried transferring out from Judo yet, but i have successfully paid in from non nominated accounts too. Speed varies, but transfers during weekday office hours take a couple of hours.

      • Ah you are right. I only used the android mobile app and where there is no 'payees' tab like on the web app. Maybe I'm missing something and its also available on the mobile app too?

    • i think it is possible to transfer into Judo from any bank account.
just use the bsb and acct number

But transferring out, yes, only to the nominated account.

    • The nominated account doesn't have to be your everyday account.

My nominated account is a Macquarie savings account.

I basically use the Mac savings account as a float account for where direct debits get taken from and my pay goes into. If I have excess funds in this account, I move it to Judo. If I need more funds to pay off upcoming direct debits, I'll need to withdraw from Judo a few days in advance. I set up a scheduled monthly $300 transfer from Macquarie to Judo each month to make sure the single hoop is met.

(well, that's the plan… I had opened my Judo savings account a few weeks back but have been lazy with moving my ING funds to Judo)

    • I've deposited from many different accounts and there hasn't been a problem yet.

For withdrawals, I have added 4 nominated accounts and yeah it's slightly less straightforward than other banks, but it takes 10 seconds to swap between which nominated account you want to withdraw to (and doesn't require typing in the numbers again).

      • Oh, so you can save multiple accounts in Judo's online banking interface and change the one that is the nominated account that money is sent to?

      • I've deposited from many different accounts and there hasn't been a problem yet.

I have also deposited from various non-nominated accounts successfully, but they were token amounts (<$5). But still unsure if that is because they are deliberately letting small amounts through. The T&C specifically mention both deposits/withdrawals to be from/to nominated account. Hence my doubt.

Were your transfers meaningful amounts, such as more than $500? Thanks.

  • Server error for creating a new account :D

    • Still messed up now, doesn't exactly fill me with confidence!

  • daily payment limit?

No. Withdrawals above $20,000 per day cannot be completed through Digital Banking. However, if you need to withdraw more than $20,000 in a single day, please call 13 JUDO (13 5836).
Our team is available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm Melbourne time (excluding public holidays), and we’ll process the higher‑value withdrawal on your behalf.

A fee for that as well I guess.

    Lame

    • Spoke to them and they said they can increase the daily limit over the phone to the maximum amount that is held in the account.
I don't have an account with them to test this but I am thinking about opening one.

      • that sounds reasonable.
hate it when banks don't give you much control over your funds

        • CBA stopped one of mine and wouldn't transfer it until I told them what it was for…

They were adamant i must disclose it…fraud protection….blah blah .

"Pay for ya Mums services offer the next 10 years" was the official declaration.

Cheers for clarifying this btw…Not Osko, so will make sure to do a small transaction prior, so the large transaction goes faster in the future.

          • @tunzafun001: my dad did a small transfer first, then a larger one. And the larger one got blocked because 'that's what scammers do as well'.

            heh

  • How does judo treat crypto exchanges?

  • I am going to swap to this from MEbank, and Rabo premium saver.
    Still going to keep ING
Plus a few Ks in Macquarie for easy/quick access

    • too many Ks for you sir

  • And they are passing on the rate increase on this account quicker than any other Bank. Here's looking at you, Macquarie (not until 02 April)

  • Anyone been with them for a while? Any reviews? I've tried most , now with mainly ME bank.

  • Anyone aware of an account with a good rate that doesn't require deposits/balance increase?

Currently with Westpac 4.25% promotional period is ending so time to move

  • I recently moved my money to judo bank, it's good to see that, at least for now, they have the best rate and are increasing it quicker than the other banks.

  • Do you, or someone close to you (like a family member or business partner), currently hold a senior government, political, public leadership role, or a leadership position in a state-owned organisation?

    • Thanks for letting us (not) know.

      • Thank you for choosing Judo Bank and for being among our first 3,900 savings customers. Your support means a great deal and the trust you have placed in us from the beginning is genuinely appreciated.

  • Getting 4.9% with NAB as ex Citi customer.

    • hi, which product is this?

    • Why didn’t I get that?

      • Did you have any of these with Citi?
        Citibank Online Saver
        Citibank Plus Linked Savings Account
        Money Market at Call Account

        • ohhh nope. i only had a transaction acc which they closed down. i used for intl transfers..

suppose cannot get that rate now?
shouldve opened a savings acc with them dammit

          • @capslock janitor: Probably too late now, but you should have received an email.

          • @capslock janitor:

shouldve opened a savings acc with them

It is too restrictive though - no withdrawals at all, and must deposit during month.
Might not suit a majority of people.
