Spotted the LG OLED Evo C5 series on clearance at JB Hi-Fi.
Stores are offering an additional 30% off display models, which can bring the price down to $2,604.70 for the 77" model which i picked up today at my local store.

Exactly this, it's a good price but it's like buying a car with 100,000 km's already on it out of the dealer.
Even worse… store demos run in store demo mode .. which is 100% flat out brightness.
OLED doesn't handle constant brightness..
Like a car that has had the accelerator flat to the floor for a few months.
I wonder if stores turn the TVs off over night or put them in standby? The pixel maintenance in standby might mitigate some of the damage though lifespan would still be reduced. My C4 uses 100W for about 10mins after I put it in standby. Occasionally it will run for hours at 100W which I believe is after certain hours on.
the demo reels exacerbate burn-in as well - same content over and over, like those TVs you used to see at arcades with screen elements from whatever game burned into them.
Agreed, I went to 4 different JB stores checking these TVs out and all 4 had burn-in. Only way I'd buy this is if JB agreed to replace the panel.
I bought a display C9 years ago at Myer, the warranty applied on the day of sale, got some burn in but I took my chances. Called the warranty service due to burn in, they refused to service me, asked myer to sort it out and after a week a technician came to swap the oled panel.
Could be worth it but it was a bit of a hassle
So the modern C5 / G5 is still experiencing burn in, in a relatively short period?
OP here. The bloke at JB let me run a YouTube video to check for burn-in, and I was really trying to find something, but there was none that i could see.
This might have been more of an issue with older OLEDs, but the C5s seem unaffected. Either that, or they’ve changed what they run on the demo units, as I noticed there were no static images.
They let me test both the 77" C5 and the 55" B5, and neither showed any signs of burn-in. Both had around 2,800 hours of power-on time too. They also confirmed that they are only on during store hours and are turned off after close.
I’m pretty picky, so I wanted to make sure it was all good. The guy at JB also mentioned that even if there was burn-in, LG are pretty good at replacing panels.
Was this the C5s?
No sir, the G5
HODL.. The TCL C7K and C8K clearance prices must imminent.
Backlit tech vs OLED …
But the C8K is one of the best backlit TVs to date…
Much brighter and will last longer…but will always have the bloomy blacks vs OLED.
Different use cases..
I dare say the majority of folk would be very much content with the C8K and unless it were side by side to an OLED, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on much at all for about half the price of the equivalent size.
Diamond v zirconia
More like glass and zirconia…
Zirconia is stronger and lasts longer… but the clarity of the glass is much better.
HODL!!!
How come? Are we expecting further price drops?
LG newest lineup has started to hit shelves. Retailers will be clearing 2025 stock aggressively.
Ah yes, thank you. These deals end on the 25th so I'm a bit anxious that the deals will go and they won't refresh them
@Yeezus: If you're in the market my advice is to set your price then go get it. Don't wait for maybe another $100-200 off. Get it at a price you are happy with and then sit down and enjoy your new tv!
The fun time where you try to get the lowest price before stock hits zero.
Prossible, but its already hard to find most of the bigger screen 2025 OLEDs in most stores. If you need a TV in the next month, holding for better price is a gamble that might see you paying more cos the model you were wanting is OOS everywhere
This model was $3200 for 3 weeks in January this year. Retailers are clearing stock for the new model coming out. If it follows a similar trend you'll see rock bottom pricing and May tech sales or June EOFY sales.
How to say you’re a simp without saying you’re a simp
People say "don't buy display models" but you get 6ish years warranty thanks to ACL and LG post-sales support is genuinely really damn good compared to Samsung and Sony.
If it has burn in, LG will replace the screen.
2.6k for C5 77 inch is decent value imo even if it is an ex-display demo.
However, 3.7k for a C5 77 inch isn't a great price overall.
Valid, but I really do think JB should fix any screens with burn-in before selling them to customers. Bit odd to sell them with defects that can be replaced under warranty prior to sale.
I talked to a TV tech recently about this.
He said he replaced a bunch of the panels at Good Guys (I think it was them) the month prior, apparently they do replace them when they get really bad burn in. He also said technically LG owns the display models, not the store itself or something like that.
I agree though if there is pretty bad burn in, they should get LG to replace it before giving it to the customer.
As others, I wouldn't touch a display OLED. Probably has run 8 hours a day for the past 365 days.
Also, I got the C5 77" for ~$3.3k brand new during some sale last year from TGG? Thats when it was only ~6 months old too
yea the C5 77" is available for 3.2k rn on the EPP store rn so defs better than this imo
It's showing as $3,348 on my EPP for me and OOS. Are you able to share the link please?
Poor OP, tries to share a deal, gets rinsed for buying a lemon.
Now I remember why I stopped posting deals I see haha. Ozopinion
Surely this can go lower. Got a 77 C5 in Oct for $2967 (price matched Appliance Central $3560, JB promo deal gave $450 jb gift card with the tv, paid with 4% off JB gift cards via Macquarie bank app).
Appliance central currently has it for $3588 w free delivery.
I actually went in store and asked about this.
Got them to check power cycles (this specific one was ~3500) and run an oled burn in test.
Whole time the store guy is saying the burn in is horrific but I was holding out hope as I wanted a cheap tv.
After connecting to internet the burn in test video plays and it is BAD, like all over the screen.
Just my experience…
Ask him to request a panel replacement from LG, it should be covered
I went in to my local shop to look for the 42 inch C5 demo to see the hours ran etc and it turned out that the store I went to (Malaga, WA) was selling all of their run-out LGS including new in the box at the 30% off the ticketed price so I paid $971.60 for a brand new one which I was stoked with.
Damn that's a good price! I should have waited cos I got my B5 48inch for $900 back in early December.
Got FOMO now because of the C5 discount prices..
I personally would never purchase a display model TV, particularly an OLED.
