I'm a builder and own many various high quality trade tools for work purposes but I have slowly been accumulating some niche Ozito tools for home use.

This particular tool seriously impressed me for the price and I would place it at the top of my Ozito list, dethroning the Ozito backpack sprayer which previously held that spot after modifying it slightly.

    • Could you share a bit more? Aside from the price, how well does this work?

      • +1

It works exceptionally well to prune and has quite a bit of oomph.
Its well designed ergonomics wise and the telescopic pole is of sound construction.

Its punching way above its weight @ $169

We have Milwaukee pole saw for work and I've played with the equivalent Milwaukee telescopic secateurs so that's my reference for something designed well for example in comparison to some of the garbage Ferrex tools I've impulse bought.

All the Ozito tools I've bought recently are excellent for the price point and the icing on top is the good price points the batteries can be obtained for.

It is simply not economically feasible for the average homeowner/layman to invest in trade tools.

On the flip side, the only Ozito tool that makes it on to any of my worksites are the $100 SDS Rotary Hammer Drills which we use as throw aways for nasty grunt demolition work.

I also have both and highly recommend, although the sprayer is very heavy when full. The pruner when fully extended is best used vertically, if on an angle it gets heavy quickly.

What modification/s did you make to the sprayer?

      • I extended the hose, changed the lance and got a battery adapter (I bought this before I started accumulating Ozito batts).

I brought mine on the previous deal and noticed dust was starting to gather. They likely need to keep rotating stock on kits due to the battery date. Battery and chargers are $20 on sale and the pole someone said in the previous deal about $60.

  • Can this work for hedge trimmer too.?

    • This is more for accurate single cuts so doesn't replace the utility of a hedge trimmer for cutting an entire hedge back quickly or shaping it.

Pruning secateurs are for small branches, flowers, plants, vines. Pruning, shaping, removing old growth or cutting out or cutting back.

These work up to where you need to use a reciprocating or chainsaw and down to a small hand tool pair of secateurs or a knife where you need to control every cut precisely.

      • I need to shorten the trees in my backyard

        • If you need to reach to cut down tree branches etc. Get a telescopic pole saw, they are similar price to this. This is only capable of cutting up to 14mm diameter from the look of it but a pole saw is capable of cutting up to about 150mm.

          • @JsMIT: Thanks, let me search

  • Pretty good tool. Had it a few months now and done 1000s of cuts. Finding the trigger button is now getting sticky from time to time where the blade makes a cut but stays stuck in the closed position. Then you have to press the trigger button a couple of times to get it to open again.

Sounds like a good excuse to go to Bunnings.

      • It's not happening frequently enough at this stage to be able to demonstate the issue in store. I can put up with it a bit longer until it becomes untolerable,

        • I thought more about your problem. This may not be obvious when using the pole but if you long hold the trigger (about 7 seconds) or wait too long between cuts the pruners can go into standby/sleep mode. In order to exit that it takes two quick trigger pulls. Next time check if it's amber or still a green light.

    TL:DR; it's good. I recommend!

Got this a few months back and gave it good go last week against my grapevine and huge rose bush(more of a tree!!) and it performed much better than expected.
I also have the (brushed) Ryobi secateurs, and I was shocked to find that this out performed it! Was quicker to use on smaller branches as it's got a setting which had the opening be smaller so it can cut faster. On the bigger branches, it still performs really well and while I haven't used them head to head yet, it felt like the Ozito was quicker and just as strong.

I was only expecting this to be useful in the pole form and that I'd still need my Ryobi, but I think I'll probably just use this from now on! To be fair though, I have definitely heard that the Brushless Ryobi is better that the Brushed on I have, but the Ryobi pole secateurs (which I was also looking at) have bad reviews mainly because of the weight of it…well I'd say it's good I skipped it, cause this thing isn't exactly a feather either, but looking at the specs it seems the Ryobi is much heavier.

    • Looks like everywhere else is 169 too… so weird Cano isn't reduced

Bought this last night at Cannington. Says $189 on the shelf but scans to $169.

Carliss! I paid 189 few days ago and still sealed in box. I will return it and drive to the next Bunnings, wasting precious petrol

  • Got this and it's great. But no way the pole is 3.8m as advertised. Instructions say 2.2m max.

    • They are saying it will reach things 3.8m off the ground, not the length of the pole.

      • 5.8m if I stand on a ladder…

        • I got to about 10m using the manual fiskars pole pruner. Standing on my carport with pole above my head.

Probably wasnt the safest or most efficient way to take down a tree but it did work.
