    first to say it's expensive

    • +5

but the colour looks cool though.

      • +8

        No RGB, not cool.

      • +1

I think mine looks better for <1/2… Libernovo omni starship.
My Herman Miller from 2007 still no issues.

        • Did you buy it from the people selling Libernovo on FB? Aussie Chairs or something?

          • +1

@superdoedoe: From Aussie… took 3 weeks to ship, but then it got from Vic to WA in 3 days.

          • @superdoedoe: I bought my LiberNovo Omni from China, it's about half of what the AU store cost, cost me around 900bucks plus sea freight.
However the entire process of getting it here is a nightmare.
Because the chair have a battery, all top 4 freight companies rejected to ship it.
Eventually I got a very sketchy freight forwarder and got me the chair.
Took me about 5 months from paying for the chair to finally get it in my house.

I have both LiberNovo and Herman miller Embody, I like both, but considering the price (in China) for LiberNovo, I highly recommend Liber novo

            • @Lexar ANZ Chris: Thanks for the response! I believe Aussie chairs is doing exactly that. Buying/Importing Libernovo from China. Their ads range from about $1300 to $1500 for the chair vs the $1700 at the Local Libernovo store.

I'm sure its all Grey Market imports so no warranty etc. They also bring in HM

and we wonder why the RBA keeps raising the cash rate.. 60+ as of this comment are happy with a $2,700 office chair.

      Edit: tax deductible.. I digress.

      • its a long term investment. your $300 office chair isn't coming with a 12 year warranty for a reason. i personally would rather spend the 1300 i spent on my leap v2 every 15 years than the $300 i spent every 3 years on significantly less comfortable chairs. i also saved the $1300 in the first year because i no longer needed to see my physiotherapist.

        • +9

You don't really live up to your name do you?

          • +2

@Mr Frodo: i picked the cheaper option, idk what more you want from me.

        • +1

I love my Leap v2. I got a gesture as my first steelcase chair for work, but thought id try the leap for home and its better. My wife now is WFH and had to get her a leap as well as she was having back pain with the $300 chairs. Had mine 7 year now still going strong, most comfortable chairs ever.

        • -7

Statements put forth by the absolutely deranged.

No chair is worth $2700. Pull your head out of your ass.

          • +3

@adehmar: if someones having back troubles in a 300-500 chair but a $1500 chair fixes it, and saved them thousands in physiotherapy and lets them sit a work day without having to take painkillers, then who are you to tell them its not worth it? where is the value in buying a $300 chair every 3-4 years?

      • +1

and we wonder why the RBA keeps raising the cash rate..

I don't wonder they do that. I wonder why people continue to vote for policies that create economic conditions that increase inflation and interest rates.

It's not magic. More government spending means more inflation. Yet so many people can't seem to join the dots on this and keep voting for it, than also act surprised when the cost of living keeps going up.

Stop voting for policies that promise you free stuff. Someone is always paying, and that someone is you and me.

      • +1

This chair will outlast me, my children, and my grandchildren.

    • Time to increase the interest rates, if this is a deal.

    • @ AnnoyingEshayLad - irstfay otay aysay it'syay expensiveyay - If you're going to be an annoying Eshay Lad, at least do it properly Bah : ) .

    About 1000L of petrol

  • +14

Thanks mate, bought three. Planning to use two of them as leg rests.

    • +17

Mm… Guessing you don't have a third leg.

      • +2

Mate, what do you think the third chair is for

        • "Planning to use two of them as leg rests."

          Definitely not for leg.

    • +10

The ozb community has lost its sense of fun

  • is it because of the brand name or its comfort really worth the money?

    • +8

Never tried it but everyone says they are the best of the best. Probably a bit of a up charge for brand too

    • +16

I’ve tried it. It was slightly better than other ergonomic options in terms of back support but lacks certain features you might prefer like headrest. At current prices though I can’t recommend it.

    • +1

It is the best for both ergonomics and comfort and added bonus is the quality of the build mean you can easily still be using this in 15-20 years

    • +1

I bought a second hand embody 7 years ago and it's still going strong. The flexibility to adjust the backrest to fit your back is unique to Embody you can't find on other chairs.

But back then Embody was 1k. This is 2.8k. Even if this is the gaming version I'm not sure whether I'll pay that kind of money when my Embody breaks.

      • +4

You might have picked up a second hand Embody for 1k 7 years ago, but new it definitely wasn't 1k new. When I bought my Embody in 2012 it was ~$2400 new.

But to add to the conversation, 14 years later and it's still going strong.

      • +1

were you all using the same chairs, constantly needing to readjust? Or having to readjust the last persons "settings" every time you'd sit?

        • +1

Actually I need to revise my comment (ozbargain wont let me sorry).

I just went through my old camera roll to try and work out what chairs they were and they were actually the Mirra model most likely.

I didn't realise Herman Miller made trash tier chairs. Actually I'll unpublish my OG comment because I don't think it was fair.

That said, yes, the Mirra was a pain to adjust, felt like I needed to adjust it even when I was the last to use it, and it had this thing where it if you leant forward and back in the right way it would suddenly lurch back sending people into a half second drop-panic, although that one was a feature to us becuase we'd all get a laugh most meetings.

          • +2

@Bidet Mate: You can't edit a comment after someone replies, which makes sense because editing a comment could completely change the context and make any replies invalid.

          • +1

@Bidet Mate: mirra was designed as the secretary/receptionist chair to the areon.
Then some professionals found the hard back to be supportive.
            Then the mirra2 came out.

    • I've had one for 5+ years and it still looks brand new, my biggest issue is I slip off the bloody thing but I'm a short and need a foot rest to have my feet properly sit on the floor. Drives me nuts honestly but I love the chair.

    • +3

There are over priced, but they are really good. I have the Embody non gaming one that I bought for $2000 in 2020-21 after I had some back issues. I seat on it over 70 hours a week and still like new. And no more back issues for seating.

    • +2

I tried a bunch of them and they were definitely than your average office chair.

Worth the price difference? hahahahahahahaha no

    • +1

Your probably young and haven't ****ed yourself up enough yet ;)

  • +1

    How FPS?

  • +1

As a convert to the spenny chair game (Hag Capisco), it felt like a ton up front but I haven't had any back issues from sitting since, if it saves you 1x physio/massage per year over a 10 or 12 year warranty, that's a bit of coin back. No clue how good this one is though

    • +8

Extend that to 20 years and you can sell this as a chair that will turn profit. Extend it to 60 years and it will start competing with the property market.

      • +7

I've already started buying an extensive chair portfolio and renting them out to pay them off over 20 years, it's free money

  • +1

Jesus thought my Aeron for 1.5k was expensive.. back then these were just under 2k.. How times have changed.

    • now for 1.5k you get a suss "grey import".

    • +3

      Is Jesus back?

    • +3

How did Jesus tell you that?

      • I think he was talking about his friend Jesus from Mexico.

  • +25

    Thanks OP bought none

  • -2

Is it for one chair ? Or comes with AI?

  • +2

Probably costs them $200 max to manufacture.

    • +2

      Nah you're way off… maybe $225?!

    • +1

But they made the fame of "being the best chairs in the world, indestructible" and "it's an investment in your long term health!" So yeah.

  • -1

Is there a budget friendly brand that ozbargainers prefer?

    • +2

IKEA bastboll. Still pretty exxy but considerably less than this. I've been using it for a few months, no complaints.

    • Haworth or Steelcase. budget "premium".

    • +1

steelcase leap v2 has been outstanding for me.

    • Ikea Markus
      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/markus-office-chair-with-armres…

I spend 10 hours+ a day in a chair so need a good one and prefer a high back and lumbar support. I've had this for about 18 months and has been very comfortable. It also has a removable backrest cover so you can put it in the washing machine. I tried a lot of chairs and was willing to spend more but couldn't find one under $1000 that was better than this. For $238 you can buy a new one every few years if you wear it out.

    • Like cheapfkr said, also bought a (used) Steelcase Leap v2 and it has been amazing, they have been on sale for 1k but I'd probably assume the cost/benefit ratio is far higher than the Embody. And from what I can gather they are generally more appreciated.

    • umm I'm sitting on it, surprised it wasn't mentioned yet. buro metro II https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/554561 , wow the last time it was on sale was when I bought it (kinda), current cheapest price is 377 https://www.sitbackandrelax.com.au/products/buro-metro-mesh-…

lasted me pretty long, I'd say it was worth it tbh, better and more solid than the markus imo (I'm a prev Markus haver, seat to stiff and build quality honestly kinda unacceptable tbh, ymmv)

  • +9

Picked up a used Herman Miller Aeron 5 years ago and it's still comfy as hell. I prefer the mesh seat since it's breathable (huge benefit during the summer months), durable, and easy to clean.

    • +2

Agreed. Love my Aeron. Had it now for nearly 19 years. Best investment I made and my back also thanks me.

  • +3

How many extra FPS would I get with this?

  • but no RGB for a gaming chair :p

  • +3

    $120 for delivery! Now that's a bargain!

  • +8

Come on Anko, do your thing!

  • +2

Never buy a chair you haven’t sat on before

  • +1

Seriously though I would recommend a Leap V2 chair

  • +2

JFC I clicked the link and flashbanged myself. That might be the whitest website ever created.

  • +1

2 weeks of petrol money for my wrangler

  • +1

I would suggest trying the Embody first in store if you can before purchasing as I personally find the Aeron much more comfortable and supportive.

  • Can you simply walk into one of the showrooms to try it? I remember walking into one ages ago for a different product and they were asking if I had an appointment which felt awkward. They gave the impression of being more interested in businesses rather than one time purchasers.

    • You should be able to walk into their showroom to try — the one in Richmond they just have a whole bunch of the Herman Miller office chairs right at the front entrance. The staff also guided me on how to adjust them.

  • +6

IMO used to be great chairs. Now it's just another "if you make it expensive, dumb people will buy it" brand.

    • What changed with the Embody's design?

    • +1

Careful…. the fanboi's are going to neg you hard for daring to speak poorly of their chosen throne to worship on :).

  • +2

Obviously we don't have a cost of living issue.

  • So it costs ~1000 litres of petrol today. In our Mad Max future I'll be paying with 500 litres next time it goes on sale :)

    • -1

Charged my car from 20% to 95% for $40 today then topped up the final 5% at home for free with solar, only because the battery needed to recalibrate otherwise I would have rode the low % harder

  • -6

More dollars than sense for some people I guess.

    • +8

If you're going to work from home for the rest of your working life, a chair with the same lifespan of that becomes worth it. Especially with the 12 year warranty and lack of developing severe back problems

      • -6

Actually…. I do work from home, and intend to do so for the rest of my working life.

I will not spend nearly $3,000 on a chair! I have a Steelcase Leap V2…. picked it up for $400. It feels no worse than a Herman Miller, which I test drove for a week and saw absolutely no value in whatsoever.

I haven't developed severe back problems either ;).

Fanboi's neg away at their guilt from being taken advantage of… I don't mind :). That's why businesses have marketing departments. For people with too much money to spend.

        • +5

the steelcase leap v2 is a nearly $2k chair new, it's in the same category as this chair…

        • I enjoy my chair free from other peoples farts.

          • @thesainter: I guess, but it must be a dull life never staying at a hotel, visiting a restaurant or getting a Uber.
I’ll save my $2k and buy a secondhand chair.

            • @mskeggs: HM dont even sell for that 2nd hand, they hold value, unless absolutely trashed.

        • -1

It's so funny seeing people justify 2700 for a chair. Absolutely crazy. Marketing is incredible.

      • I've been working remotely for 15 years and in no way is it worth it spending this much money for a chair.

For that same money you could buy a good quality standing desk and a walking machine, both of which have a way better effect on youe health if you're working 10 hours on the computer.

  • +8

    Mini review:

I used to have an Ergohuman chair which I liked. It was a bit broken so when I joined a new company a few years ago, I got them to pay for a new chair, so I chose the Embody (non-gaming version), along with a 3rd party head rest.

Overall I think it's a good chair. It's relatively comfortable, comparable to Aeron. Aeron probably is slightly more comfortable for just sitting, but Embody with it's back is more stretchable.

I don't like the armrest as much, they feel cheap, not as comfortable or soft as my old Ergohuman one.

It's a good chair, but with the price (especially when non of the Herman Miller chairs have headrests), I don't recommend it. I think cheaper options like Ergohuman and alternatives are probably better for most people who want a bit more value out of these.

    • +4

A free embody is a quite the job perk

  • -7

    Thanks grabbed 5
