I guess this is new. I stumbled on it by accident, believe it hasn't been posted here yet, although the free whopper cheese has been.

Amazon Prime is the gift that keeps giving.

EDIT: not in fact new - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908779, never seen it myself and last post remained since the previous post before it was 6+mo old. perhaps this one will too, or old one should be given the "LONG RUNNING" tag

    old deal

    • +8

you're right, not sure how I never saw this earlier, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/908779
I guess dupe rules will allow this to stay given the 6 month rule, as it was on the old post. I couldn't find that one in search, but in any case, let the mods remove it as necessary

  • +6

Signed up the last time it was posted. But it's been a while so good share!

  • +11

Can u resub after 2 years

    • +1

      I wonder too. Bump

  • +1

Nice now just need it to last long enough for a resub in November

  • +7

I thought I had done this previously. Did it again and got it until 12/11/2026.

Not sure why I didn’t get 2 years previously or 2 years this time.

  • +16

Got this, but have never really used it. I either eat at the place or pick up myself (especially if it's pizza) as I see many delivery drivers never use hot bags at they're required to when delivering food.

    • -6

give some work to the dasher buddy. pity them.

      • +18

I do pity them, because I do food deliveries myself, so am talking from experience. It's just a shame that hardly any of them to use a hot bag when customers are paying for hot food. Even the stores let them take the food without a hot bag. So I also pity the customers.

          • +23

@Deink: I don't agree with that. I rarely get a tip, but I don't take it out on the customer, always using a hot bad - I believe in karma. If the money is insufficient for you, the problem isn't the customers lack of tip, it's the organisation that's paying you. The government has mandated a minimum hourly rate of ~$31/hr starting from the new financial year so that should help (probably a contributing reason why Menulog decided to leave Australia).

          • +18

@Deink: We don't live in a tipping culture so I don't know why you'd find this surprising. But then if you have that kind of attitude and deliver lukewarm food its unlikely even the would be tippers are going to want to do it

          • +1

@Deink: Probably cause you accept multiple deliveries and deliver cold food? Before uber eats hid driver's routes, i used to see them accept and deliver food in the complete opposite direction of my home, adding a good 15 mins on top of my delivery after they had picked it up. Sometimes they would drive past my street to deliver something 10 mins away first. I get they are trying to make money but you're ruining people's meals accepting multiple orders, good luck getting any tips for that. It doesn't affect your rating or offers if you decline jobs.

            • +18

@johnnytran: This is a common misconception by customers. The uber eats and door dash apps expect you to accept additional deliveries (up to 3 at a time), if you don't, your acceptance rate goes down, meaning the app presents less deliveries to you, or deliveries with less money. So the driver has literally no choice but to accept or (excuse the pun) drive themselves out of the job. Less drivers means higher delivery costs passed onto the customer (supply and demand).

The other thing is that the app alone determines which orders you pick up first, second and third, and then which order you deliver them in. Drivers do not get to decide the route or order that they can deliver in at all.

Other things that contribute to delays are the stores taking ages to make the food (they often don't have enough staff on to make this quickly enough - I experienced this just last night with a 20 minute wait at an EMPTY restaurant), or customers saying "meet at door" then taking up to five minutes to arrive (and the app gives them 8 minutes to get to the door and accept the delivery).

Further to this are weather and road conditions, traffic, stupid slow drivers in one lane roads and those that live in difficult locations to reach (such as multi storey apartment blocks that are like a maze and take ages to get to the unit and deliver waiting for a lift etc).

Uber eats are there to make money off their customers, the stores and the delivery drivers. Only they win in this game. So next time you get cold food, just know there are a variety of factors that contributed to it, often it's not the driver, they're just the middle man copping it from customers, stores and the way the app operates. We get grumpy customers, lies at stores about the food being ready in "2 minutes" and rarely any tips from those that you delivered to ahead of time and in a difficult to reach location.

If you want to help the process, be kind to the driver, they are often doing their best. When ordering, provide easy to follow instructions, as often English won't be the first language of the driver). Be patient, as often they're not causing the delay (the sooner a driver can get you your order, the sooner they can accept another delivery so it's better for them to make more money), and also remember that it sounds easy but we put up with a lot for very little.

              • @Trishool: I'm just going off comments i have seen elsewhere from drivers declining (hundreds, if not thousands of) jobs and it not affecting them whatsoever, but they were in the US so maybe it's different there. I've also seen drivers not follow the GPS route the app shows them, cause they know the area and they are taking short cuts. The restaurant area i order from is about 2 min drive away and i only order when i have a decent offer, otherwise i'd go pick it up myself. You can imagine how frustrating it is to see the driver collect my order, then hang around the area picking up other orders, delivering those in the opposite direction of my place adding at least 15 mins onto my original ETA when they could have spent 2 mins to delivery mine first.

I understand they are just following the app, regardless how frustrated i am with the process i don't get angry at them, it is what it is

    • -1

Do you use hot bags when picking up yourself?

  • +12

i signed up to this when they first started the promo. after 6 months they started charging me monthly for it. when I went to help chat there refunded all the months I had paid for and then later I found they had also ended my subscription. haven't tried to sign up again

  • I was surprised to find this today myself. Offered free Dashpass until November.

  • +7

I believe i heard it is only active for as long as your Amazon prime subscription is active? Can anybody confirm?

    • +1

remind me in a month when my prime trial ends

    • +7

Can confirm. When I cancelled Amazon this was cancelled automatically

    • +5

Yep, gets Dashpass gets cancelled when Prime gets cancelled. However, if you do resubscribe to Prime, you can reactivate free Dashpass offer again.

      • I don't have or plan on getting Amazon prime so i was considering activating my free trial for prime and then accepting the offer. No point if it will only last for the 1 month

  • +4

I have that but it's not really useful. The prices are through the roof with their commission.

  • Fairly sure I've done this before (around 2023/4) and i know it definitely expired, but was able to activate this and get it free until nov this year. YMMV

  • +5

Tried DD last week for a soup noodle 4km from me. Took the guy 1 hr to deliver. They must have accepted multiple orders at same time. When the noodles arrived it looks like a Dough balls.;(

  • ThanksOP!
Anyone knows where to go to cancel before the renewal (2 yr later)?

  • +1

Free doordash premium = Free spending more on food
Not a bargain to me. Still voted.

  • +2

I'm prime member and it's not giving it to me

  • +1

Mine is until Nov this year as well.

    • +1

So your first time and you don’t get the two years?

      • +1

No , not my first time, but my last time was also messed up, because the first time it was joining via Canada Prime i believe before it became available for Aussies. So my one last time finished up earlier than it was meant to as it got cancelledseveral months earlier. Which might explain why this one worked but till Nov only.

        • +2

I never set this up but it seems frim all comments I would get November not two years

          • @grasstown: Worth trying, you might be the lucky one. But it does seem like majority get till november.

  • -1

Ya'll being scammed unless you're making bank working from home xD

  • Signed up on the last deal, used it once since 2024.

Dashpass is worse than uberone in still charging a service fee. Everytime I go into a selected restaurant I want I price it up on both apps and doordash always dearer. Think a $100 meal was attracting a $17 service fee even with this deal….

  • I have used before abs now its been two years so I can.t subscribed again for Free DoorDash even with new email account on DD. I guess I can create a new Anazon and subscribe to Prine.

    Any other tips

  • +1

Signed up with intention of using the prime10 code discount but never found anything worth getting

    Good offer though

  • I've been on this deal for 6 months or more, and now you can actually share your dashpass to another account so they also get the same benefits (Family sharing I believe it's called)

  • +1

Same as previous one, says I’ve already redeemed.

  • I got this last time and my current sub is still active until November 2026. Should I press the button and hope it adds another further 2 years, or cancel and click it and hope I am eligible to get a fresh two years? Either way should wait till Oct/Nov I guess, to maximise if possible.

  • is it 2 years or until Nov this year? if it is 2 years I will open a new Amazon account to get another 2 years DoorDash member.

    • Do it anyway and report back?

  • Anyone cancelled and renewed,

  • Let my Prime lapse and then renew. Dashpass cancelled when Prime expired (as expected).

Renewed Prime, then activated this offer - expiry date for dashpass is still 13/11/2026.

  • Great
