📸 What We Need From You

Your switchboard determines which inverter size your home can support. For example, a 10kW inverter requires a minimum 63A main switch – if your board doesn't meet that, we need to identify it before install day, not during it.

To assess your property and confirm pricing:

  • Photo of your switchboard (open and closed)
  • Photo of proposed battery install location
  • Your current electricity retailer and tariff
  • Whether your home is single or three phase

⚠️ The Rebate Is About to Halve

Right now, a 41.93kWh system attracts approximately ~$13,000 in federal rebates.

From 1 May 2026, the rebate moves to a tiered structure:

  • First 14kWh – full rebate
  • 14–28kWh – 60% rebate
  • 28kWh+ – 15% rebate

The same system. The same install. But it will cost you ~$6,000 more after May.

That's not a price increase from us – it's a rebate cut from the government.

⚠️ Must be installed before 30 April 2026 – booking alone is not enough. We install within 2 weeks of enquiry.

  • Got any SA offers?

    • Hi Farmos,

Sorry mate, this one's VIC Metro only unfortunately. We don't currently service SA.

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

    • @Farmos - Found any availability in SA?

  • How much extra for Backup / EPS

    • Mine was $990~ for 1-2 circuits I believe

  • Not sure how good the service here is - just tried calling their number over the last couple of hours and no one is answering. I also tried calling one of their reps who is also not answering. Does not inspire confidence if you have a technical fault with one of their installs and can;t get a hold of anyone.

    • Same, first impressions not that great.

      • Hi Uncleroger,

The form is the best way to get in the queue. We work through every submission in order, 1-2 business days. No one gets skipped.

        Regards,
        Victorian Power Savers

    • yeah not good if they won't even answer for a sales question, definitely won't answer for a support question

      • Hi Tanvry,

Support and sales are handled by separate teams, so existing customers aren't affected by launch day volume.

On days like today we can get 20+ calls to our sales line, with some taking 20 minutes each. The form exists so no one misses out and everyone gets handled in order.
If you have an existing support issue, DM me your details and I'll get it to the right team directly.

        Regards,
        Victorian Power Savers

    • Hi qvinto,

We prefer enquiries through the form so we can work through them in order, first in first served. No line cutting. Phone lines bottleneck quickly on launch days like today.
If you have a technical issue with the form or want to check where you are in line, DM me and I'll get it escalated separately.

    • I've tried a few times with these guys, including getting SMS confirmation of being one of the first 100 from here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/935022
I've found that when they actually contact you they request a photo of your switchboard and preferred install location; and then ghost you. I'm in Vic Metro, install location wasn't too difficult etc, so who knows why they didn't bother to maintain contact.

For those of you who are thinking of taking up this offer: Ignore it if they say they've filled all their slots, as they seem to just pick and choose who they'll do installs for based on unknown factors. You might be lucky and they decide your install is quick / easy / local enough for them.

I also suggest getting quotes from a few more companies, as when these guys ghosted me and I went elsewhere there were a few different companies that did better prices for FoxESS systems.

I ended up going through a different company and getting a GoodWe ESA system (10kw inverter, ~50kWh battery) installed (with 3 circuit backup) for cheaper than the CQ6 prices listed above.

      • Hi Iano,

Please DM me your contact details so I can verify the timeline of events. We keep a record of every enquiry and communication, and I can assure you we don't ghost customers.

I don't have any private messages from you on OzBargain, so I'm unable to verify your experience without more details.

See the linked screenshots of my message to you via OzBargain, and also a follow up email sent through to you.

I'm not stressed about if you follow up or not, as I went elsewhere and got a system installed. I'm just letting others know about my experience in trying to communicate with your company

          • @lano: Hi Lano,

Thanks for sharing those. I've reviewed the screenshots but they don't contain enough detail for me to look up your enquiry. There's no email address, name, or reference I can match to our records. So we will just assume

If you're happy to DM me your details I'll check what happened on our end. Either way, glad you got sorted.

      • Can you please share your quote for your system via DM? thank you

        • Done

          • @lano: Could you please DM me with your installer too? How long was your turnaround time for install?

            • @unco: @lano to me too please

          • @lano: Can you please share your quote for your system via DM? Is that a 3 phase install or single phase?

            Thanks heaps!

          • @lano: Could you also share your quote and installer as well. Thanks.

          • @lano: @lano can you share with me the installer? How long was the turn around?

        • @lano: Can you DM me with your installer too? Thinking of getting something sorted for my elderly dad. Cheers.

        • Can you share your system via DM plz!

      • I've found that when they actually contact you they request a photo of your switchboard and preferred install location; and then ghost you.

So same with every other installer making a quick buck from the government cashback schemes.

        • Hi ATangk,

Yes, you’re right, that does happen in this space. There are a lot of newer operators around, which is why we just focus on doing things properly and being upfront from the start.

We ask for switchboard and install photos upfront so we can actually check compatibility, flag any additional work, and give a proper price before anything gets booked in - not just a headline number that changes later. There are also jobs we can’t take on if the switchboard needs upgrading or there are existing electrical issues that need to be sorted first.

If someone’s sent details through and didn’t hear back, that’s definitely not how we operate. Happy to follow it up if that’s happened to you or anyone here.

          Regards,
          Victorian Power Savers

      • It seems like a few of the companies do the same tactic- the please take photo of the switchboard, and then never contact again… except their junk spam about some new offer

        • Hi 87percent,

Yeah, we’ve heard similar stories as well.

For us, the photos are just so we can quickly see what we’re working with and avoid quoting something that doesn’t actually stack up once we get on site. Saves a bit of back and forth and stops any surprises later.

If someone’s been left hanging after sending details through, that’s definitely not how we run things - happy to take a look if that’s happened here.

          Regards,
          Victorian Power Savers

      • Hi, sorry, could you share your quote via DM to me as well

  • Isn't the problem not with the rebates - but with installers that can do this in time before the cut off date in a few weeks time? The Installers I know are flat out to deliver in time given the shitty rainy weather means if you want a solar in component, they can't climb roofs when wet.

    • Hi Bchiliu,

Good point. Installer availability is definitely the real bottleneck right now for most companies, but we aren't.

We planned ahead for this. We have stock on hand, installer capacity locked in, and we've launched early deliberately so we can look after OzBargain customers first, then keep slots available for referrals, friends and family of existing customers in the final weeks before the cutoff.

Worth noting these are battery installs, not rooftop solar, so weather is less of a factor. Wall or garage mounted, typically completed in a day, even 2 installs per day per installer.

Once our install slots are full, we'll close the promotion. No overcommitting, no missed deadlines.

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

  • Anyone have any QLD deals?

    • We went with Aussie Solar Batteries for our system that we got installed ~5 weeks ago. We got the 42kwh Fox ESS battery system with a 10kw inverter (single phase). The base price for us was $6,500, but due to energex limits we needed to change the existing solar inverter we had to the Fox ESS one, which was an extra $1,000. After that, we decided to optionally also get 3 backup circuits for $300 each, though this was optional, and if you do want them, you may not need 3, but it brought the total up to $8,400.

From what I've seen they can sometimes be hit and miss, but we had a great experience with them. The longest part was waiting for energex to approve the plans, but once that happened we had an install date 4 days later which was great.

We also ended up going with Globird as our energy provider - their ZeroHero plan gives us 3 hours of free power from 11am-2pm, so we can basically guarantee at least 70% battery charge each day for free regardless of how the weather is. Also if we manage our usage well during 6-8pm each day, we can get up to $2.50 in credit each day, as there's a $1/day credit for not using power from the grid during this time, as well as up to 15c/kw FIT for the first 10kw exported, plus 6c/kw for any above the 10kw limit. Except for one day early on when we were trying to figure things out where we missed the $1 credit, we've gotten it each day which has been good. Our bill was about $4-6/day beforehand, and since we've changed we've gotten a credit averaging ~60c-70c almost every single day and I export about $. Again, apart from that one day early on where we missed the $1 daily credit, the most we've paid is 25c, then 2c, then everything else is in credit. It's been so good, and it's set and forget - you may be able to get more money out of other providers like Flowbird or Amber, but this being set and forget is so good and we don't have to worry about anything for it!

I'm not an expert and this is all based on my experiences obviously, but if you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them!

  • Does the 5kW/10kW make a difference if I only have 6kW of solar panels?

Or is the 10kW to pull more from the grid during cheap rate periods?

    • Hi sh4hp,

Good question. The inverter size determines how much power the battery can deliver to your home at once, and how much it can pull from the grid to store.

With 6kW of panels, your solar input is the same regardless of whether you go 5kW or 10kW. The difference is on the output and grid charging side.

      Grid charging example:
Some energy retailers offer free or cheap power windows, typically 11am to 2pm. In that 3 hour window:

      • 10kW inverter = up to 30kWh stored into your 41.93kWh battery
      • 5kW inverter = only 15kWh stored in the same window

That's the difference between a nearly full battery and a half empty one, just from the inverter size alone.

      Output side:
A 10kW inverter can power more of your home simultaneously during peak usage (cooking, aircon, hot water etc). A 5kW inverter limits you to 5kW at any given time.

For most households the 8kW or 10kW is the better fit. The 5kW is really only suited to low-usage homes or backup-priority setups.

Submit an enquiry with your details and we can recommend the right size based on your actual usage and retailer.

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

    • Yea but should be min 10kw, ideal 15kw. More so if you go with someone from Amber so you can charge / discharge at peak times

      • Hi Baegmon,

Agreed, although some budgets don't allow it. The inverter size is also limited by your switchboard. If your main switch is 63A we can install up to 10kW, if it's 32A we have to go with 5kW - or you get your switchboard upgraded to 63A.

For anyone on Amber or a time-of-use tariff, the bigger the inverter the more you can take advantage of price spikes and cheap charging windows.

10kW is the max for single phase homes. For three phase, 15kW+ is what we recommend.

        Regards,
        Victorian Power Savers

  • I went through multiple quotes/installers and I wouldn't recommend these guys. They were just a massive pain about where to be able to put the battery vs the other installers.

I also managed to get a quote for $4800 for the EQ8400 from a local installer (vs their $5299 price). I personally went with the CQ6 instead as well for an extra 1k.

That said, if you need a battery and you're happy to pay this price (many installers are already fully booked until the 1st of may, especially for certain products) then you may have little choice.

Edit: Oh wait, I just realised the $5299 price is for the 5kW inverter lol. So $4800 vs $6,299. Yeah, they're not cheap (if you're going to have a 40kW+ battery, you'll absolutely want a 10kW inverter). Not the most expensive (I was quoted up to $8,700) but not cheap.

P.S. Also another thing to keep in mind with costs, is you may need to upgrade your switchboard, which can cost thousands. You need at least 5 poles for the FoxESS and if your switchboard is "standard" then it will be too small.

    • Hi dottjt,

Sorry to hear you had a negative experience. If you're happy to share, which installer did you end up going with? Happy for you to share the invoice too so others can compare what's actually included with this $4800 price you were given.

We're confident our pricing is competitive on a like-for-like basis so we would love to see it.

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

      • No. But in a reverse uno I'll share the quote you sent me https://imgur.com/a/Y4WNdUX

Why is your OzBargain offer $99 more expensive than what I received lol. Does your offer also include all the addition things like sunshade and bollards outlined in my quote?

        • Oh man 👨

        • That's brilliant man. Thank you.

        • Who was this through? Lol anyone can edit a PDF.

  • Getting my installed outdoors with exact specs for $5200 in NSW.

  • This is daylight robbery. Call around and only go with these guys if you cant find any cheaper

    • Can you give examples of other installers offering a lower price in VIC for the same spec. I think this is about as low as you’re going to get?

I don’t think we can compare to other states

  • I have got a quote for $5500 installed for EQ4800 Series – 41.93kWh with 15KW inverter - including sunshade. Install date 27th of this month.
    Location ACT

    • That is cheap. Check when the company was registered. Sounds too good to be true

      • They are in business from 2020. 3 of us getting it installed. They already installed in one of my friends place last Thursday.

        • Ok, 2020 is not bad, 6yrs old. Good deal. Sadly battery land is the wild west and lots of cowboys installing for cheap probably with no plans on honouring warranty claims.

    • Can you PM me the name of the installer? I'm interested.

      • Interested as well!

  • FYI feel free to read through my saga in their previous deals.
    For the tldr; summary:
You can probably find cheaper, do your own payback calculations because all the numbers advertised are on best case scenarios. These guys came through in the end and are probably better than the new companies spun up in October 2025 to cash in on the rebates.
They subcontract, my guy was ok but not a superstar installer. Installation could have been neater, better mechanical protection could have been fitted to the DC power cables but ultimately it was deemed to be compliant. Plastering meaningless and irrelevant stickers shows lack of experience and understanding.
Hoping that paying more for these guys gives you longer term warranty assurances compared to the companies selling for peanuts that will ghost you when the rebates drop and finish up.
Good thing in Victoria we have mandatory independent inspections because there are a lot of cowboys out there. Do share photos of your cheap installs on the Fox ESS Facebook group for them to be critiqued.

    • Thanks for sharing! I assume you already had an existing solar system prior? If so, did they do a DC coupled setup? Or did they leave the existing solar inverter in place, leaving you with both inverters running?

      • They did an AC coupled system. Made sense from my perspective as it is cheaper, easier and keeps the warranty of the existing system. Also has a separate inverter for future growth options.

My Sungrow reporting is all wrong though but I believe that it's normal for the readings to go askew and I would put it down to how Sungrow calculate the measurements.

        • I see, makes sense. Did you opt in for the blackout protection as well? If my understanding is correct, with an AC coupled setup you can't charge the battery from solar during the blackouts, so you're covered only until the battery charge runs out. I'm debating myself whether it's worth splashing out the extra $800+ for that.

          • @nzdjigit: Nah no blackout backup. Electricity is pretty stable where I am. I couldnt justify the extra cost. Also if you get backup then it triggers additional compliance requirements to bring your entire switchboard up to current regulations meaning any circuit breakers need to be type A rated. I'd guess that could add another $1000.

            • @IlIlIl IlI llIIIl: Yeah, I'm thinking I'll pass on it too, backing up only 2 or 3 circuits doesn't really justify it for the price. If it were a full house backup and the abilty to charge off solar during the blackouts, then it would've been a no brainer for me. Otherwise, it seems like a pretty useless gimmick. Anyway, thanks for the info!

            • @IlIlIl IlI llIIIl: Did you install yours outside or in your garage? We installed ours in the garage, now waiting for the inspection scheduled next week. But I just noticed that they didn't install a smoke alarm. I was under the impression it was mandatory, no? Now I'm anxious it won't pass the inspection.

              • @nzdjigit: Mine is outside under cover so pretty much protected from rain.
I installed a smoke alarm myself. Smoke alarm isn't required as part of compliance. Take a photo and share on the Australian Facebook Fox ESS battery group.
I only realised there are a few more issues with my install after it passed compliance and I saw feedback on the Facebook group from other people's installs.

Main issues with mine is excessive DC cable dangling behind the battery not mechanically protected. Substandard mechanical protection on the DC cable into the battery with poor conduit fitting. Lack of shround to cover DC battery terminals. Also stickers are supposedly meant to be attached to the wall nearby and not on the battery or the inverter. And none of the silly stickers installed.

    • I also went ahead with this company, mine is all installed at the moment just waiting for the inspector. Michael gave me a run down of several solutions and was happy to take the time to explain it all. If you check their ABN they've been around a decade now.

Initially they were easy to get a hold of via phone but as soon as I was locked in, it was difficult, as they didn't tell me the time they were going to arrive but they did keep me informed if they were going to reschedule beforehand.

Most people here are striving for the cheapest quote and that's fine, but it seems like the cheaper quotes are coming interstate and not vic. Also I think it's more than just installing battery/inverter/solar and getting a cheap quote, especially if you want to backup your circuits.

      • Did you install yours outside or in your garage? We installed ours in the garage, now waiting for the inspection scheduled next week. But I just noticed that they didn't install a smoke alarm. I was under the impression it was mandatory, no? Now I'm anxious it won't pass the inspection.

  • We have an existing 8KW solar panels with a Goodwe inverter. Are your installations DC or AC coupled?

  • How much extra for 24 x solar panels?

    • Hi Koflok,

Please send me a private message and I will let you know what we can do.

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

  • A mate was just quoted under $16k for an install of a 32.24kw Sigenergy battery and Sigen 11kw hybrid inverter. Does anyone know why this would be so much more expensive than OP's deal?

    • Sigenergy need to pay additional insurance costs because their batteries are proven to catch fire

  • Anyone know of companies in North East Vic with any similar deals? Specifically the Beechworth area.

  • i've recently had a system installed by VPS in the last deal. Happy to answer questions.
No real major issues yet, Calls were followed up and install was scheduled earlier than expected. The installer they used was friendly and did a tidy install. Only thing was that inspection took 3 weeks, although i dont think VPS can totally control that and it is up to the installer to submit photos on the day and submit it completed. Inspector mentioned it was a good install as well.

    • Did you install yours outside or in your garage? We installed ours in the garage, now waiting for the inspection scheduled next week. But I just noticed that they didn't install a smoke alarm. I was under the impression it was mandatory, no? Now I'm anxious it won't pass the inspection.

      • Mine was outside.
Have a chat with your inspector. They'll tell you the things needed to pass standards

  • Got a quote last week and agreed, haven’t heard from them, sent a couple messages 🤷‍♂️

    • Hi WhiteEvo6,

Can you please send me a private message and I will see where your job is at. :)

      Regards,
      Victorian Power Savers

      • msg sent, tried calling this morning but its gone to voice mail. I msg last week as well via the quote system and SMS, guessing you are getting hammered with requests

I just want confirmation that the install can be done prior to April 30th otherwise I cant go ahead, just want an install date

  • QLD asks for $7.5k and more and no guarantee installed before May.

  • I’ve been chasing these guys since the 1st April, briefly spoke to the person above that said they’d follow up on the quote I approved and nothing since 7/4/26

Really annoyed with the zero comms and that with every day that passes it’s more and more likely I’ve missed the current rebate and it will cost me double

If you can’t keep up with demand don’t advertise on this platform, if you can keep with and it’s a communication issue then sort it out because if customers cannot even talk to someone to get an installation what chance do they have if they have an issue

I’ve got money ready for a battery install, I’ve approved the quote and I can’t speak to someone to get acknowledgment of that or pay the deposit or get an install date

The biggest shame is the salesman I spoke to was super nice, very well spoken and answered all my questions, I was really happy but it’s been downhill since

If you want to sell a battery my quote is #1670, call me for a booking

    • They work in the basis of pay a deposit and then you will get a booking after a few weeks. I had mine installed by this company, they asked for a small deposit then I waited 2 weeks, then it was booked and installed.

Doubt they will give you a confirmed date up front, the reason they are not calling you back is because you haven’t paid the deposit (and others have).

  • Well, thought I would share my experience with this group.

In summary, stay well well away from them.

I asked for a quote for the 10 kW single-phase inverter and 42 kWh batteries about a week after this thread. I did try a few other companies but many said they couldn;t do anything or they never got back to me. Had one of the contractors for VPS call me, and after sending all the relevant photos, etc., they got a quote back about $600 more than this due to "an unexpected price rise in batteries". Ok, had to swallow that reason and paid a deposit of 11/4. Got confirmation of payment then heard nothing. I had to ring repeatedly (the VPS number and the contractor guy whom I spoke to originally). Got told, yep, you have been allocated a battery and will plan to install late last week or very early this week. I was asked to buy the concrete paver and some crushed rock as a base for the battery, which I did. Then nothing else was heard. I called repeatedly and spoke to someone at VPS who said , oh, we have a problem with inverter stock. I'll check to see if you are affected and get back to you. No call back or email. Got in contact with the contractor who said, yeah, there were some issues, but we are getting more stock ($2000 more now), but you'll be fine as you have already paid the deposit. He was supposed to confirm everything and get back to me Friday. Nothing was heard back. Around midday Friday, I got a call from the supposed CEO asking what I had been told, which I responded very clearly that I was promised an installation date soon after paying the deposit, and I had been allocated stock of the battery, etc. He was puzzled as apparently the staff member at VPS noted I had been told there were no inverters and I could get another battery brand. I never got told the inverter was not in stock and they were supposed to put in writting what other battery options I could look at but I never got a respone. The CEO apparently went to ; Check stock; and next message I got was that they cant do my installation and my deposit would be refunded. This is now on the 24/4, less than a week until rebate ends.
My feeling is that they could scam others into higher pricing and they needed to dump existing cheaper orders. It has left me in a difficult situation and not sure if I can either be bothered with finding anyone else in 4 days or even if it is possible to get an installation in the remaining time.

So again, my recommendation is stay away from this mob. They don't communicate, if they do, it sounds dodgy AF and don't expect your order (even with a deposit) to be honoured.

    • Damn that sucks. I think you ultimately dodged a bullet anyway. After joining the Fox ESS Facebook group and seeing Crap Solar posts on Facebook, these guys definitely have a way to go in terms of meeting best practices

      • Yeah, so disappointing. Especially when they were stringing me along with promises, then dropping my order 4 days before the rebate finishes. Dodgy AF company.

      • I’m sure they use more than one installer but the guys that did mine did a good job, has been running for about 6 weeks without issue,

The FOX system is a bit ugly compared to some other all in one systems but can’t blame that on the installer.

  • Anyone based in Victoria who got their battery installed through Victorian Power Savers (VPS) still awaiting for the independent inspection before the unit can be commissioned & used? We had ours installed on 8th April (post Easter) and still waiting. Did follow-up with the sales rep at VPS who indicated that they can't do anything because the inspectors are independent but we have heard feedback from others who got installation done from another company who managed to escalate the inspection request for them on the very same day.

Is there anyway to know if we are in the queue to get the battery inspected and the request hasn't falled through the cracks?

    • Mine was inspected 3 days after install (done by VPS)

      • Lucky you - which battery did you end up going for and is yours AC or DC coupled connection with your solar panels?

        • 42kw EQ4800 with 10kWh inverter. AC coupled, no EPS.

The installer offered to do DC coupled. The solar system is only 12 months old so didn’t want to void the warranty on it.

    • i think that really depends on the installer and not VPS. the installer has to submit photos during and completion and then they submit it via an app so has to have timestamped metadata im assuming. After this is submitted it then goes in to the database and assigned to an inspector.
mine took over 3 weeks because my installer didnt submit the completion photo and had to come back

      • Also the plumbers and Airtaskers aren't accredited so they get their mate who is to submit the photos. Very shonky practices happening elsewhere in the industry especially with the brand new companies established purely for rebate exploiting
