Wagner Health Paracetamol 500mg 20-Tablets $0.89 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Chemist Warehouse

190

Hi all,

Hopefully not posted already, did a couple of searches but didn't find anything !

Had a tooth removed last weekend, not a tone of pain but still a little bit. I was going to grab some Panamax but noticed the package size had decreased. Had a bit of a look around and noticed that the Wagner health one was actually cheaper per pill than the Panamax one !

Lots of price increases for the Panamax one historically it seems, first it was 0.99 for 100 pills, then it was $2.49 for 100 pills, now its $2.49 per 50 pills!

TLDR: Wagner Health Paracetamol 500 mg = 4.45 cents / pill | Panamax 500mg = 4.98 cents / pill

  • cant let their competitor be cheaper than CW brands

Chemist Warehouse also partly owns several brands including Bondi Protein Co, Goat Soap, Barely Intimate Skincare, Bambi Mini and the Wagner supplement brand.

    • oh damn, good call

    • Not to mention Wagner Pharmaceuticals

I've noticed this is their default / generic brand offering with scripts in store - if you dont say anything / request original etc

      • owned by CW

        • That's my point.

      • Any problem without original?

I always request for generic/whatever cheapest script item

        • I normally go cheapest also but note that any of the Wagner stuff I've received recently, they have a funny bitter taste, including their Melatonin (used dozens of brands without any taste to them) and Sumatriptan. I dont know what they are putting in their tablets…

  • Limit 1 only.

    • On a 20 pack… surely common sense would override that..?

  • Splitting hairs but the Aldi one is still ever so slightly cheaper ($0.69 for a pack of 16): https://www.aldi.com.au/product/hedanol-paracetamol-tablet-1…

    • Damnit you are right !

      HEDANOL Paracetamol Tablet= 4.31 cents / pill
Wagner Health Paracetamol 500 mg = 4.45 cents / pill

    • Was just about to mention this.
      4.3c a pill

    • If you want to be absolutely padentic, Woolworths or Coles with a 10% discount off a shop (i.e. Woolworths mobile or Coles plus) is $0.65 for a 16 pack, which makes it 4.0625 cents per tablet.

      • pedantic

        me too ^_^

      • If you want to be pedantic you will find that the 16-pack at Coles and Woolworths is $0.75, or $0.675 after 10% discount.

I like the Coles 16-pack because they are "caplets" (capsule shaped tablets), which are easier to swallow.

  • What happened to the good old $.89cent days of 100 box @ CW.

    • or 99 cents petrol :(

    • The government changed the laws on maximum purchase size,

  • Is it the same thing as brand name Panadol?

  • It seems you can still buy a 100 Panamax pack at CW (for $4.39) if you convince the pharmacist to let you buy them

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/41147/panamax-500mg-…

    Or 100 Wagner for $3.99

    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/110143/wagner-health…

100 Wagner for $3.99 might be cheapest per tablet of all mentioned in this thread

  • Confirm 100 Panamax still available behind counter. Bought a pack the other day.

    • Yeah I saw that, but it's like 4.99 right ?

  • not a bargain. go to any supermarket

  • Does anyone know if these have the coating on them that "theoretically" makes them easier to take?

I have always used the Panamax and I have no issue with them, however the other half has suddenly taken to them being a problem and now has started by Panadol Optizorb or whatever they are called.

I don't want to feed the big pharma anymore than I have to, so any suggestions about cheap and cheerful that have the magic coating?

    • I bought this recently, I don't believe it has any coating. It seemed pretty dry and powdery like a panamax.

      • Thanks for the info.
