How do these play with Home Assistant/Frigate?

Can the floodlights be controlled too? How are they powered?

There's native Reolink integration with HA. Haven't used Frigate, but the native integration works well.

Flood lights can be controlled on/off directly by HA, I've used it in some automations. They're Power over Ethernet, so either connect back to a PoE switch or a splitter.

My set up is Router —> PoE Switch —> cameras + NVR - camera's directly connected to PoE switch.

      • Thanks for that, great to know.

I wasn't expecting the floodlights to be PoE too.

  • Is it possible to have the lights activate to sound? I'm needing a system that does this (doesn't actually need a camera)

Amazon doesn’t appear to have the extra discount?

  • The IR is better than the poe duo on this model too, since all the "in built" LEDs on the camera are IR (instead being a mix of IR and white LED on the non floodlight poe duo)

    • The Duo 2 has a much larger vertical FoV than the Duo 3.
I am beginning to hate the Duo 3. Coming from a Duo Floodlight, the Duo 3 is a let down.

      • Yeah, Reolink have done some ordinary reconfiguration of the vertical FOV on the Duo 3, as well as the domed versions the Duo 2V and 3V. Mt Duo 3's haven't replicated the lag which TheHookup spoke of in his YouTube roundup.

Duo 2 definitely had the best field of view, albeit at the trade off of the dated 2 x 4mp lenses. The alleged specs below are quite rubbery since in my experience, there's a much bigger reduction in the verical field of view on the 2V3, and 3V than claimed below…

        CAM LENs LEDs FOV (h*v)
        Duo 2 2 x 4mp 560lm 180x60
        Duo 2V 2 x 4mp 840lm 180x57
        Duo 2 Floodlight 2 x 4mp 1800lm 180x60
        Duo 3 2 x 8mp 560lm 180x55
        Duo 3V 2 x 8mp 840lm 180x53

Credit where it's due though - good to see @dealbest including a discount code to supplement the generic pricing from the Reolink website.

Yes, glad to see they have finally taken on our feedback here.

I do miss the AliExpress store. I got some really great deals using promo codes and coins. Alas, no more.

One of the biggest complaints about RLC cams is that they are using such crap sensors, namely 1/2.8" and 1/2.7", and just upping the MP count.
This results in absolutely piss poor color night vision under poor ambient lighting. Even with flood lights and spot lights, you still get ghosting and false alarms.

1/1.8" sensors should be the norm.

          • @DoctorCalculon: Yeah, the nighttime vision is not stellar, albeit the ColorX models do a reasonable job and I've deployed many of them in critical areas, even if low-lighting ghosting still occurs in places lacking any ambient light.

That said, what we paid for some otherwise capable cams with great build quality, a range of connectivity, storage and viewing options plus no ongoing subscriptions fees was great value in those glorious AliExpress years. I have mixed feelings about losing access to cost-effective hardware upgrades, given there's no real reason I ever needed 30+ cameras in the first place. At least my CCTV retail therapy has been curtailed…

      • Yes i love my duo 2's and duo floody

  • great camera, mine sits in direct sunlight. has never given me issues in the 2 years i have had it.
    literally sees the whole street.

blend line between cameras could be better but you can live with it.

highly recommend using with a NVR if you want continuous recording as it will munch through data, if your doing local storage VIA SD card, ensure you get a high endurance card.
