My turn to say it’s VA panel

    • +2

      Price is good though

      • -6

No it isn't. Even the Samsung Odyssey 34" retailed for this price before.
        Always avoid VA panels. Terrible.

        • +10

I think the disadvantages of VA panels are overblown.

I've had one for over 3 years now and the positives far outweigh the negatives.

It sits besides an IPS monitor which serves as my second screen and I have an OLED TV. So yes, I use all three screen technologies on a daily basis.

          • -5

            @dqtl74: What advantages? Being cheaper?
They are objectively worse than other panels in terms of response time, smearing, viewing angles, etc. Attempting to deny this just means you're in denial.

            • +6

@SvcKpc: VA does have clear benefits:

Much higher native contrast than IPS (often 3–5× higher), which means deeper blacks and better dark‑scene performance (but less than OLED)
Stronger perceived HDR impact on non‑OLED displays due to that contrast advantage
Often higher peak brightness (nits) than OLED and many IPS panels, which matters in bright rooms
Better value at a given size, resolution, and refresh rate

There’s also a massive difference between budget VA panels and premium VA panels. Many of the complaints people repeat are based on early or low‑end VA implementations (black smearing, poor overdrive tuning), not modern high‑end VA displays. Importantly, smearing and response times are not inherent to VA as a technology, but are largely influenced by panel quality, overdrive tuning, and the monitor’s controller/chipset implementation. Modern high‑end VA panels, when properly tuned, perform very differently from older or budget models.

              • -7

@kid-vhee: All of those advantages fall under "more budget friendly" when OLED completely outclasses it. Brightness is not an important factor for computer monitors as it is for TVs.
IPS is better for response time, viewing angles. OLED is better than VA in every single way. The only area VA has any sort of merit is low-cost for the poor.

You mention premium VA panels alleviate the drawbacks. I can tell you for a fact this "Xiaomi" monitor is no premium VA panel. The "premium" VA panels are on monitors like the Samsung Odyssey G8, which cost significantly more than this cheap junk. Even then, Samsung is moving away from high-end VA in favour of OLED.

                • +2

@SvcKpc: Incorrect, samsung still makes high end VA Theyre doing quantam dot led or mini led.

Your reasoning is irrational. Everyone needs to consider technical specifications and theres pros and cons to each panel type selection

Everyone has different need and budget, stop trying to pout that OLED is always superior. Its not for everyone.

Tell me, How do you justify screen burn ins on OLED.

                  • -6

@kid-vhee: Completely and utterly delusional :)

OLED is absolutely always superior, and there is nothing you can say to disprove this. The only argument favoring VA over OLED is price. Sure, if you're poor and don't have a job, by all means settle for the garbage :)

Burn-in is not a problem when warranties exist. If productivity is the main use-case, you get an IPS. Again, VA is not competitive, no matter how desperately you obviously want to rationalize your purchase :)

                    • @SvcKpc: We are the delusional ones when you clearly don't even use a VA panel?

Firstly, yes, brightness is definitely important for computer monitors, not only so it can be used in bright environments but also for good HDR performance.

Secondly, I have IPS, VA and OLED computer monitors in the house, and there's no doubt OLED is ahead in terms of visual fidelity, but VA is also very usable and no where nearly as bad as you make it out to be. I prefer the VA panel over my IPS panel, because the latter's contrast is so bad.

Burn-in is not a problem when warranties exist.

What type of argument is this… the warranties exist because burn in is a problem…

                      Who hurt you?

                      • -6

@CrispyChrispy: You can cry that you like VA all you like, it doesn't change the fact that it's objectively inferior in every way, and all of it's glaring issues can be replicated :)

It's ok to be wrong my dear. And no, warranties on OLED monitors is exactly the reason they are viable, and why burn-in should not be a factor when making a decision on what to buy.

VAs are, and always will be terrible for monitors :)

                    • +3

@SvcKpc: Talk about close mindness "nothing you say can to disaprove this" yet you accept flaws of OLED and understood the different value propositions ( contrast ratios, brightness, hdr, colour depth, screen sizes, latency, colour bitdeoths)

Mate learn nothing is white or black, I'll be in disbelief this is how you chose everyday products or buying decision.

By your logic you should only wear tactical hiking boots because its superior for mountain climb, all other shoes are garbage

Use case, value propositions of each panel type. Picking one characteristic to justify your logic then proceed to call VA buyers poor.

I see there's little to discuss here with your limited points.

        • You are right

        • +4

          Always avoid VA panels. Terrible.

And when did you last use one…?

        • +1

Still using my VA panel for work, I have an OLED tv to game on!

  • +2

Last deal posted back in February 2026

The light bar is MJGJD01YL under specs information, which is an older model.
The new one MJGJD02YL (or called 1S) is better.

  • +1

I paid the same price for the original xiaomi 34" ultrawide. Used it for 3 years and still loved it. Only upgraded because I needed a 4K display. Hoping the LG 39" 5K2K comes out soon so I can jump on that.

Why would the XiaoMi be a better buy than say https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/monitors/34-inch-and-abo…

    • -3

      It isn't.
There are a lot of chinese brand fanboys on this website though, who will insist the chinese brand is better.

  • +2

    Once upon a time

This monitor was Ozbargains favourite monitor.

    • Mine only just broke and it was my fault for not protecting it in the car haha

  • Terrible deal. Odyssey G55T has been cheaper many times.
    Also it's a VA panel.

  • I still don't understand why these light bars exist.
