[NSW] Haier 2.5kW Split System $590 (GST Inclusive) @ Total Aircon Fitting (Auburn)

740

Was looking for 3 aircons for my inlaws.

Gave a bunch of random shops a call in search for a cheap aircon surely a tradie buys their stuff for cheap and rip us slaves out of pocket….. and stumbled on these guys .

Anyways stopped by on the way home from work. Very cheap, big shop too, seems like they move aircons by the volume.

Bought 3x 2.5kW haier Aircons
I picked it up in my ute, they do delivery. The split systems 2.5kw can fit in a sedan.

Bank transfer to their BSB Account number and pick up aircon.

They got Daikin Lite Series 2.5kw i got quoted for $750

They said prices will rise due to the fuel problem but are yet to put a date on it.

Good to discover small mom dad shops that do better deals than the big box stores. Next time i will send them an email so i can pay from a quote vs bank transfer in store. You can pay with card but surcharge…

Note: GST inclusive pricing added to title.

  • how much to usually install them

      I got quoted 750 each they supply trunking coil etc.
      This be cheaper as inlaws are replacing their split system and the sparky told us he can run it off the the outdoor circuit, and he will run the other two off the other circuit.

      • is it Total Aircon Fitting installing it? or did you have to go out and find an installer?

      • I got
        * 2.5kw
        * 2.5kw
        * 5kw
        Mitsubishi electric units

        Installed for $5k. So this seems like a good deal (3x 2.5kw + installation is 750 * 3 + 590 * 3 = 4020)

        • I got a quote at a little over that for a single 2.5 and a 5kw (MHI) w/easy install so thats a decent price.

          I wouldnt get a haier installed personally though Panasonic or MHI only for me

      It is in-law spec after all.

    Would've gone Daikin myself, but ~500 sounds pretty good.

    • +1

      I was thinking of Daikin but that plus the cost of diesel abort mission

  • Good price. I would be interested in who does the warranty on these. Haier appliances such as fridges, washers and cookers etc are sold and serviced by Fisher and Paykel here in Australia. If the warranty is backed up by Haier / Fisher & Paykel locally then you would have peace of mind if something goes wrong.

    • +2

      It was weird Fisher and Paykel it says in the warranty book. I didnt know Fisher and Paykel was owned by Haier, as i was wondering why the box had Fisher and Paykel stamps all over it

      • Yes, Haier bought F&P in 2012.

    • Fisher and Paykel does the warranty. They have their own service technicians

    One near me does 2.5kW Cumfee brand $550 flat. Also has Hisense for $550 plus.
    No install included. I didn’t realise this was a good price.

  • How much would it be to install on a single story full brick house? I find the installer will charge an arm and a leg for it.

    • +1

      Find someone on marketplace or DIY it's extremely easy with a $100 vacuum pump I did mine and have zero experience

      I've had aircons installed about 15 of them in my life time, they range from 500 - 1.2k
      My guess if you were to supply all the parts (isolator, coils, feet, trunking, conduit) , given your house has an updated switch board, easy to access roof cavity so the guy can run the wiring I expect about 600 + GST

    • +1

      Also search for an aircon installer near your area on FB marketplace. Send them pics, ask for licence number and get a quote better than having a tradie out there and whinging about prices

    • About $500 for a simple back to back install for a cashie

    • HN do install specials every now and then for 499, see if you can get the info of their local installer. We had one installed by their guy and he ended up giving us his card as he could do it cheaper next time - we ended up using him for a larger AC and got it for about 1k less than the other quotes we got. I hate giving money to Gerry but it was a deal at ~1300 all up for a 2.5kw mitsubishi inc install.

  • Does it include the outdoor unut?

    I got this aircon. I would not get it again it's probably the weakest aircon in terms of airflow, equivalent to a car aircon. Other brands for the same size are much better.

    • I did some tests and I was wrong my car aircon is definitely stronger. Also sometimes this aircon gives a musty cigarette type smell which my other air cons don't usually do.

      I have found the complete opposite. I have 3 of these Haier units in my house in Brisbane. 2 x 2.5kw in bedrooms and a 7kw in the living room.
      They all work perfectly to cool down the house quickly.
      We mainly use the units on low or medium fan speed as we find them too powerful sometimes.
      Check your fan speed isn’t set to low, and the mode is on cooling, and if you have already checked that, I would get fisher and paykel out to have a look at it as there might be something wrong with the product or the installation

  • I think I read that almost all brand/labels of air-con now sold in Australia had internals made by Haier in China (maybe some branches in Thailand)

    just tossing that in there - I'm not up on this topic

    that said, we have a 2.5kW Fujitsu split inverter reverse-cycle air-con for our open kitchen/dining/living area, say 4.3mx5.7m = 25 sq.m. and it's perfect for heating and cooling this space at minimum cost - not used in spring/autumn, and when used, usually no more than $1 a day, in 2019 heat wave running 24hrs it cost about $2 a day.

    nearly 25 years old and still working fine, tho' rumours of current manufacture is built-in obsolence designed so you might only get 5 years life. Dunno - believe it or nuts …
