New Release

First ever licensed Tintin LEGO set

~20% discount on RRP at $279 (also same price at BigW)

Potentially a good entry point if you're a collector or just like building rockets

Interesting piece of trivia Wernher von Braun was consulted on the original fictional creation of the Tintin rocket for accuracy before eventually becoming director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and chief architect of the Saturn V – the launch vehicle that sent the Apollo 11 crew to the Moon on the 20th of July 1969.

$279 is retail, this is likely early release discounts I wouldn't necessarily expect it to stay at $219

        $279 is retail

$219 is the normal price on Amazon.

I wouldn't necessarily expect it to stay at $219

It's been that price most of the time since it launched…

        • +1

According to your 🐪 link it's up and down between $279 and $219 hardly every day normal price but I know what you mean. Where the price goes from here who knows

@4foxache: Most of the time it is $219…

If you pay $279, hand in your OzBargain licence.

Thanks OP. Had been considering paying $279 to pre-order via Lego website, with stock due to be released 1st April. So not the Ozbargain way…..

Easy decision now to purchase via Amazon, it's saying will be delivered tomorrow

      Don't forget cashback… Should be 3.8% (approx $10)

Unless there's some GWP that you abs must have, why on earth would you preorder at full price from Lego. You're paying top dollar there.

    I want those minifigs!!!

  • +4

    Overpriced bunch of figs.

They're reasonable figs, but it's a blatant cash grab from fans before they release a set with tin tin in a jungle outfit, which is what I presume most tin tin fans would really want

Does it come with diesel ?

    • That version is not discounted

      Is there a Woman Lego?

You have cried about it for 10 years now

  • @4foxache Where did you read that Wernher von Braun was consulted for Destination Moon's rocket?

  • oh man Tintin.. so good…
edit - oh and that trivia slaps so hard, thanks OP

    OMG, that's freaky.

Last weekend was in the Sydney Lego store thinking that's there's heaps of licensed models now. Which got me thinking about a Tintin themed sets because I like both.

The idea was quickly dropped when I saw the current themes, star wars, Mario, Sonic, Tintin was not that big even when the feature film was released. Best I could hope for was a MOC set.

Now back to my other dilemma do I get this knowing that I've got a backlog of builds to do and no way to display everything.

    • How about no because $219 might be BigW's everyday price and you might see a sale?

    • I think a lot of people like Tintin and Lego, and Tintin fans are old enough to have disposable income.

      • True true and true, but what I don't have is any more space.

I think the only room without Lego is the laundry and kitchen. Even the bathroom I'm picking up the kids '100% this will float builds' daily.

        • Yeah, it's why I don't buy Lego for myself. I've only bought the Gameboy set as that felt like something I shouldn't pass up.

Snowy doesn't get a space helmet? How cruel.

    • +2

Yeah the picture's wrong, he should be lying on his side.

      • Woah! </keanu>

Wernher von Braun was consulted…To quote Hasan Minhaj, I did nazi that connection

  • When I was a kid, this was most expensive comic book to purchase.

I can't believe nobody has made a "thundering typhoons" comment yet.

    • Blistering barnacles?

      • +1

Oh… I didn't see those. Hahaha! My bad.

    Back to $219.

  • No mention of Tintin in Africa… I’m disappointed

Great set combining childhood obsessions of Lego and Tintin. Good link have bought it.

  • Looks terrible compared with the image in the comics
