I managed to use my $80 gift card from the recent TCL price error to buy Philips 7000 kettle.
It's all metal interior so no micro plastic risk. People have complained that the lid doesn't open wide enough.

Is there a similar kettle with that feature but without the lid issue? Ideally at least 1.7 L
Yeah I’m hopeful to find something else
I have had 3 kettles with lid issues: Breville, Russel Hobbs and Kenwood. Heat causes expansion, and the sensitive mechanism based on a piece of plastic releasing (or not) the lid fails to work because it became longer.
After that I bought a K-mart thermostatic kettle, which has been fantastic. Glass kettles are so much better.
Multiple reviews on Meyer say this Philips model stops boiling around 40 degrees.
I just saw the Russell Hobbs Addison Digital Kettle now at $62 down from $89 using the price beat.
It seems these temp adjustable kettles may have issues but I was gonna gamble using old One4All gift cards but can't do split payments online or over phone. :(
I got the older version of this one, it has a hinged lid not removable like the new version.
But being glass you can see the amount of water, digital temp readout on the handle. And the smart control is brilliant, mines hooked up to my "Alexa, good morning" routine so it's just boiled by the time I get to the kitchen.

After owning a voice controlled kettle for several years, I wouldn't go back to a regular kettle.
What lid issue? i have never had a problem with mine
I believe it's the one where if you pour too fast, it can spill through the gaps of the lid instead of the spout?
That's at least what I read when researching a new kettle, however I don't have any issues with mine and have been very happy with it.
I keep the lid in a semi-open position when pouring and that negates the spilling issue when pouring too fast.
I've got 5000 Series and quite happy with it.
It's all metal interior so no micro plastic risk.
I don't own the Philips 7000 Series Kettle, but wanted to point out that this is not quite true for the Philips 5000 Series Kettle which has a very similar form factor.
I bought this one a few months ago and the lid is very annoying. Another issue not mentioned is the pointless touch controls integrated with the handle. If you pour hot water for your brew the capacitive controls often misbehave toggling the keep warm function when you dry it off from the steam. The handle itself is a creaky pressed clamshell so that it can house these inappropriately situated controls. The spout is a lousy shape and it will dribble down its side if not allowing it to hang purely with gravity from the handle if you grip too hard it's dripping. My wife can barely avoid this due to it being a less casual weight to handle for her. These totally needless irritations make it a poorly designed premium product to me; though having said that, I am not sure what else is around to buy with the same metal only water contact and it isn't annoying enough to stop us using it. It is merely pathetic in how it falls on its face in obvious and avoidable ways that wouldn't even have affected the BOM had they been designed out.
Lid doesn't open well
Doesn't poor well through the opening
Lid collects water and you can get boiling water on yourself if you use it twice in a row
It's a tolerable dud. They really should have done so much better.
Thanks guys pointing out this aint good kettle. Still hunting
I have this and thought there was a lid issue as well until one day I lifted the lid further than its first tolerance and it opened much further without issue. Hope this helps someone.
The lid opens just enough to squeeze your faucet in to fill it. It’s not hard to open it further if you want to. As for the pouring, just don’t angle it too excessively and it comes out fine. It’s a great kettle just by the fact it’s verifiable good grade stainless steel and I don’t think the water touches anything but!
I agree, the lid issue feels overstated. However, I was coming from a kettle that had a lid which needed to be removed completely for each fill, so filling the kettle has always been a two-handed task for me. I'm not sure why people can't just tilt the lid up further with the hand they're about to use to turn on the tap.
Any recommendations for the least plastic in contact with water options for a water kettle. And also people who have been using this - is it good option in terms of platic concern. Thanks
This series of Phillips kettles have its disadvantages but is pretty ok in terms of minimal plastic contact.
If you want absolutely zero plastic contact with steam or water, the only thing I can think of is an all-metal (whistling) kettle for the stovetop. They don't come cheap though.
Make sense - if this is the best option in terms of plastic contact in an electric kettle and within this range, happy to get this one.
To find a practically plastic free interior kettle is quite difficult in Australia. There might be one more alternative at this price point (Smeg) but unless you’re importing or playing eye watering prices, nearly all kettles have significant amounts of plastic inside.
So if you care about all metal interior, this is a bargain.
There’s a lot of complaints about the lid, i don’t get it. It has two levels of opening states. Press the button to open a modest amount, then pull it up further to open it much wider. I can easily put the faucet in with room to spare.
My chief complaint is the lid gathers hot condensation which can drip onto the handle. Apart from that yeah I don't experience any opening or refilling issues with the lid either.
Hmm never had that problem!

Yeah for this price definitely.
Your other choices are:
Can anyone with this kettle provide some insight on how loud it gets? I have a Kambrook one that can wake up an entire house, trying to replace this
Descale your kettle and see if that makes a difference. Heard it somewhere that scale can be a large source of noise for kettles. But don't have any personal experience on this.
yeah 100% - whenever my jug gets noisy, i just boil 2 cups of 50/50 vinegar/water in it. all scale gone, much quieter every time right after descaling.
It makes not insignificant noise, but you can’t hear it a room away. This is a slight problem because my old kettle does a soft ‘ding’ when it finished boiling but this one doesn’t and i don’t notice it finishing.
$99 and got problems? Wondering if the $15 Kmart one is good enough. My cheap Russell Hobbs kattle still works.
Was purchasing a new kettle recently and used a recent Choice Magazine review article to choose to buy this.

Perfect mouth opening, nice and quiet, too. No silly beeps. No problems. This is the one to get.
Hence it being listed as International import from UK :)
oh indeed, just wanting info on where Jacuzzi made the purchase from!
Have one and really would not buy again. Ignored the lid issue but now regretting it. Also, nice to have a temperature control setting but really not a big deal. Only positive is the temperature hold which keeps the water at a set temperature until kettle turned off. At this price, its an ok deal.
