Stargate SG-1 Complete Series $99.99 to Buy @ Apple TV

130

At $99.99 its a pretty good deal and close to ATL and you get to say goodbye to pesky DVD's. Last time it was priced like this was the price April 2025.

The ATL was 89.99 was back in 2019 and even with the $10 price difference, it now has better value than it did in 2019!

Here's some AI calculations

An item costing AUD 89.99 in 2019 would cost approximately $112.27 in early 2026, based on a cumulative Australian inflation rate of roughly 24.76% over that period. This reflects a total increase of about $22.28 in price to maintain the same purchasing power.

Inflation Breakdown (2019–2026)
Initial Cost (2019): $89.99
Cumulative Increase: ~24.76%
Estimated Price (2026): $112.27
Average Inflation Rate: ~3.21% per year

Note: This calculation is based on projected cumulative CPI data up to March 2026, which indicates a shift from 115.10 in 2019 to 143.60 in early 2026. Actual prices may vary based on specific product categories.

Interestingly enough Apple TV didn't this in the results when I searched for it so click on the link. It seemed to only showed when the search field populated the autocompletes.

Thanks bootlace and their post on SGA (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/953577) for prompting me to look for this.

people really spend money on this? (no issues with the show - but paying for it on apple tv?) yikes.

    • -6

People spend more than $500 on a video card so the world is made up of all sorts of different people. 153 hours of content @ 65c an hour or 48c an episode. Don't have to search for who currently has it on their platform.

not the same, Nvidia can't just pull the hosting rights and you lose your item, but Apple / paramount can

        • -4

They can brick a gpu remotely. In fact they have quite the history of doing just that with their driver updates

        • +1

Dont give them ideas, Nvidia might make you subscribe to keep your video card enable

I'd just Torrent it for free, but that seems old fashioned these days.

Streaming is the new torrenting….I'll just leave this here for you:

        • Cheers. I'm often travelling and having access without needing Internet is main reason I torrent.

I thought considering that the whole Stargate Atlantis series is going for $14.99 on Apple TV that this was kind of expensive in comparison. Why is this $100?.

    • i know it doesnt cover the entire cost but im pretty sure Atlantis was a spin off that lasted 4 seasons whilst SG-1 i think went for 10 seasons?

i'd also guess SG-1 probably had a bigger following because it was the orginal post movie series

I personally liked both - but i'd rather sail the seven seas

Atlantis had 5 seasons, all of which were really solid.

SG1 had 10, but the last 2 or 3 are not worth the time.

Fair shout and this is true but my point was there would be more fans of SG1 then Atlantis - i will say this is probably prefered Atlantis

What killed SG1 was when Richard Dean Anderson started to pull away

  • Ummmm is on Netflix.

    • +1

      Until it isn't.

        Ummmm is on Stremio.

        • +3

          and streamio is higher quality!

You do know even if you “buy” it from Apple it can still be taken away from you at any point right? Unless you have a DRM free file sitting in your HDD you’re still basically renting.

        • That's why my prefered method is to buy it on physical media at best price then torrent a copy onto a NAS. I have both SG1 and SGA this way. Key is to check back periodically for a better HEVC torrent. 3 of my SG1 discs had manufacturing defects that prevent playback so a digital copy is actually necessary.

" say goodbye to pesky DVD's"

Yeah no, I'd actually rather own my content.

In the middle of my backswing?

    • Classic episode. Timeloop.

      • +1

I'd watch a whole season of it.

Imagine putting all that work into the description for a digital product…

Just hit the high seas instead

      How much?

Why didn't you post it as a deal?

Reminder that buying on Apple TV is renting until they feel like taking it away.

  • The problem is (what is Amazon/MGM thinking?) the disparity - either drop $G-1 to $69 so it’s in sync with the Atlantis price drop or Atlantis should actually have been $30 itself.

    • Atlantis should actually have been $30

      A price increase?
Sir, this is OzBargain. We do not do that here.

      • Testing testing is this thing on… so my comments do get read!

My first option was a price drop, my second option was merely a comment that they should not have dropped so much (admittedly I didn’t look at the past price of Atlantis but it doesn’t deserve to be “as cheap” as Universe either)

I’d love to see a steady decrease in per-episode prices year on year as they age for series in general. The going rate of DVDs is about $1 a disc and with 2 or more episodes a disc, DRM and removal as everyone notes admittedly, the prices are good to me.

(I am halfway through rewatching $G-1 on Netflix but I have the DVDs on my Plex server. There is a community of thought that says Fans need to re-buy and re-watch to send the signal that we want Amazon to give the second season that Stargate 4 needs.)

  • $99 to lease the show lol. Complete series included with MGM+ in Australia or can be watched for free via PlutoTV if you have a US VPN.

  • Indeed.

    Wormhole xtream !

    $100 to lease sg1 lol.

Either buy physical media, stream or pirate.

Paying to lease media is stupid.

Maybe in 10 years time copyright laws for media could change (hopefully) but at this stage, it's a waste of money to 'purchase' digital media unless you get a drm free download.

  • This is on Netflix for free!

    • +2

How do you get Netflix for free?

      • Free when you have Netflix.

        • So not really free.
