  • I have no idea that Kevlar in clothes is a thing

  • These things are sturdy and give fake feeling of protection. It does protect if you fall on 10km speed, but hardly it can do much if you go above 25km. But the feeling of protection motivates to go above 100km.

    • Don’t

    • Have you come off while wearing aramid lining? The potential skin and flesh loss vs a pair of regular jeans or god forbid, no covering at all is worth twice this price when you do.

Even noting the partial lining vs a decent pair like RSTs you probably should keep your nonsense to yourself.

  • I'm looking at the size 42 but if they are too small there is no size above that. Can I return them for a full refund instead of an exchange or credit if they don't fit well?

    • or just loose some weight?

      • *lose

    • Hi, yes; if the size isn’t right, you’re welcome to return them for a full refund, provided they are unused and in original condition with tags attached.

  • As an avid rider with a bit of experience under my belt, I wholeheartedly do not recommend anybody to buy cheap gear like this, this brand and similar pop up and disappear brands do not offer A/AA/AAA ratings whatsoever, so you have no clue if their 'motorcycle clothing' will just fall apart or not the moment it touches bitument. Safety is not something you can cheap out on. Go to your local motorcycle shop or Franchise like AMX/AMA/MCAS and buy reputable gear when they're on sale (Easter sale is coming up) they also price match with other Australian stores (online only stores too although MCAS staff may say no).

    • Agreed.

I have tested the Kevlar lining of cheap motorcycle pants on my bench grinder and it disintegrates very quickly.

Compare that to leather which lasts literally 10 times longer on the bench grinder.

Only go for reputable brands now. Motocap ratings provide good insights.

Even if you can't afford $300 riding jeans brand new, check Facebook marketplace for used pairs for $50 for draggin jeans.

      • You say "leather..lasts… 10 times longer" - and then you recommend buying used draggins?? Lol. How long does the kevlar in those last?

        • Buy the gear you’re actually going to wear. Leather is great but it’s not useful if you’ve left it at home because it’s a PITA to put on and makes you look like a knob at the shops.

          • @aidhan: Lol. Thats probably the most valid comment in here yet. Buying gear honestly just seems like a raffle, even with Motocap. I honesly find it a little weird that so many of the top-rated pants are denim (with kevlar) when we're so often told "leather is best" in terms of protection.

        • Sorry forgot to elaborate.

So with the better draggin jeans, not all of them. They have slide ratings in seconds.
How they achieve this is with multiple layers of thicker/heavier gsm kevlar weave.
The cheap no name kevlar jeans might give you 1 second tops, the draggin rated jeans can give you 4 or 8 seconds from memory.

Obviously the compromise is thickness and therefore warmth (not a bad thing in winter, but terrible in summer)

          • @edrift: Like i said to the guy above. What's your definition of "cheap"? Exactly how much do you have to spend before you know you're getting something "safe"? How thick is "thick"? How heavy is "heavy"? How many layers until they're safe?

Unless there's standardised testing across all these metrics, personally I think the ratings are a bit useless. I guess motocap is better than nothing, but Im not sure that relying on just one comapny to do testing is a good idea either. Certainly doesnt seem very scientific.

            • @Fredorishi: Motocap is scientific. They are literally an independent scientific org setup to verify the safety of gear.
They defined the standard in Australia.
When I was describing the thickness it was an observation not a scientific measurement. I look at the motocap ratings before I buy anything now.
For the multiple pairs of jeans I have that got decent motocap scores, the Kevlar is always thicker and in multiple layers compared to the multiple of cheap generic pairs I had.

              • @edrift: There is no "standard" for gear except helmets..

One of the core components of the scientific method is that results can be replicated. By OTHER scientists. Motocap is ONE organisation that appears to test differently to every other one. Probably for valid reasons like different road surfaces, but still….

I'm certainly not saying don't use them. As i said. Better than nothing. But its not the be all and end all for lots of reasons.

I mean, Its still hugely complex and confusing just for helmets even WITH legislated standards. Let alone with the rest of our gear.

And the one thing that is pointed out, even by motocap, is that the price you pay is no reflection of quality.

Hopefully it keeps improving with time, but the bottom line is it will be always up to the individual's risk assessment.

    • Appreciate you sharing your perspective 👍

A lot of these points have come up earlier as well, so for anyone interested we’ve addressed them in more detail here:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/951678

Just to clarify; the product is described exactly for what it is and what it offers. We don’t position it as something it’s not, and the features listed (Kevlar reinforcement in key abrasion zones and CE armour for impact protection) are what the product is built with.

Comparisons to higher-end or different categories of gear are always valid, but ultimately come down to rider preference, use case, and budget.

For independent feedback, we’ve also linked our eBay profile where riders; many with real-world riding experience; have purchased, used, tested and shared their reviews.

As always, we encourage riders to do their own research and choose what they’re comfortable with. Happy to clarify anything specific if helpful.

    • This nonsense has been posted on a few of this companies ads. I've got no idea what their gear is like, but plenty of "reputable" companies also make terrible gear. And "cheap" doesn't always mean "worse". I mean, seriously. How much should someone spend on gear to make it safe? $500? $2000? $10000?

      • If you think what I'm saying is nonsense then you can forget the gear and save your money altogether. I specifically mentioned tested ratings but yeah, its nonsense to you.

        • Your mentiomed "cheap" twice. Buying stuff "on sale", "price match", "easter sales" etc. Your main focus was how much stuff costs.

And the local rating system that everyone raves about uses a numbering system and not A/AA etc.

Plus you said some other waffle.

Man, why do motorbike riders in here get so butthurt when you mildly criticise their comments about gear safety?

Nothing to say about the points I raised?

          • @Fredorishi: Well, this is OzBargain… so yeah, the focus is going to be on costs. Isn't that exactly why folks like yourself might be looking at this cheap, no name gear?Seems like you’re nitpicking just for the sake of it.

My point has always been about reputable, tested vs untested gear. CE ratings (A/AA/AAA) or other recognised standards to show the gear has been independently checked for abrasion, impact, and stitching. Most cheap, no-name brands slap on a thin layer of Kevlar and some CE Level 1 foam and call it a day. Heck, even without the ratings, the thickness of kevlar from a reputable brand vs noname brand is typically night and day, then you look at OP's pants and see how much kevlar there is on the pants in the photos on their website… its appalling to say the least.

I’m not saying expensive = safe. There’s terrible gear from reputable brands (think Alpinestars and any of their riding shoes), that’s why reviews, other people’s opinions, and trying gear on in person is important.

Look bud, I’m just trying to give a heads up for anyone new to riding. Buy once, cry once.

  • Good price considering they also include hip and knee CE armour. I would say good enough for commuting and able to stroll around without walking like a gorilla in serious leather kit.

    • Unless you're commuting on the highway at speeds >60km/hr I wouldn't worry about armour besides a helmet & gloves. I ride suited & booted with a hi-vis vest, because the traffic means I'm rarely going over 50 let alone 60 and mostly lane filtering.

  • Why does it look like the guy wearing the jeans has polio?
