Additional Card Members will no longer receive complimentary Priority Pass memberships and lounge access.

this is the biggest impact for family of 4 :(

The RBA change hasn't happened yet. This is piggyriding on what is essentially expected to minimize outrage. Akin of higher inflation feeds into self-fulfilled prophecy of higher price expectation which then gives supplier/companies excuse to increase price.

    Thanks a lot RBA.

    • +1

I know you may be being sarcastic, but pretty sure this was announced before the RBA ban on surcharges

    • RBA, the gift that keeps on giving…

  • +1

    Only going to get worse.

Even though RBA has exempted Amex for now from the surcharge ban, the fact that they have done it to Mastercard and Visa means banks will pull back on card benefits and guess what, it means a even lower bar for Amex to beat.

I suspect either the fees need to come down to reflect this or they will start to see dwindling in the program. For $1450 fee p.a., its starting to get hard to justify.

    • Won’t somebody please think of the children!!!!!!!!

  • This is annoying. Does anyone know if the Business Platinum card gives Priority Pass membership for any additional card holders?

  • Australia is a unique market in the global landscape where foreign currency conversion fees have unanimously been 3% for decades across all major institutions - something not otherwise observed in other countries (barring any specific market conditions at play). The fact that it's now been increased to 3.5% by AMEX means that the rest will likely follow suit. Really drives home the fact that AMEX isn't really the premium global credit card network it wants to position itself as - useless once you leave the country. With all the available options we have for fee-free FX conversion in dc and cc, it's not so much an issue as it is annoying behaviour to see.

    • Macquarie is nil. Wonder if not making much from debit interchange will impact their willingness for it

      • +1

I hope they don't get rid of the 2% cashback on debit taps.

      • I would guess big 4 to go first actually since Macquarie has been siphoning market share from competitors with its HISA, perhaps they have a bigger cash pool to work with for the time being.

  • No change to my Centurion except the currency conversion

    • Centurion still gets 2x priority pass member ships for primary and additional? Or are you paying an annual fee per additional card holder with the centurion?

      • +1

yes myself and a +1 supp. no extra to pay

      • I have heard centurion has a $6500 annual fee
that is high enough to get a unlimited priority pass though (or way enough to pay per entry)

        • Yes it does but for my spend and the other perks it's worth it

    • I thought the centurion had no conversion rate? That’s annoying

To be fair, Priority Pass lounges are pretty ordinary at best - so I would consider this a negligible benefit. Additionally, if one is already travelling premium or has status, they have their respective airline/alliance lounges anyway.
