Idk what this game is but square enix, switch 2 and $19 is a win for me. Just bought. Its also in-store too. I can't believe it was $14 at some point but it wasn't available near me at the time.

      Game key card though.

      • +3

I don't this that matters for this price. I agree it's not good but it's not a new thing. Even if they aren't key cards so many games need patches to play well and some don't come with the full game on the cart or disc. This also applies to the other consoles but because they use non property discs the storage is a lot cheaper while nintendo uses fast flash storage that only they make and sell to the publishers for an inflated price

It's bare minimum resolution upscale but the game is a gem. Full voice acting and still has alot of charm. 50+ hours, a bargain at this price. Been my most played Switch 2 title.

unfortunately the battle system was too slow. so many clicks for 1 action. Octopath Traveler was much better there so i love that game and have the trilogy

        • +1

the game has a built in speed up function for battles…

@GUYANDSON: i'm aware. still gotta press 10k times for an action (exaggeration)

        • It's a strategic turn-based RPG. It's not meant to be "mash A to win". If you are using the same action every turn, turn on the "remember selection" option.

I found Octopath 1 quite tedious in comparison.

          • @Erwark: lol octopath is not a mash to win so yeah. simply put too many buttons to press each round. octopath excels in this by having the boost feature

            • @FrozenFred: Boost is basically Brave but more restrictive. I don't understand what your concern is?

              • @Erwark: Yeah and how many button presses do you gotta repeat and spam to use your 3 brave points? Lololol

                • @FrozenFred: There is an accessibility/auto mode if pressing a few buttons is too hard.

Or I hear TV is good for that.

@Erwark: yeah great game got auto battle lol for those 'fun interesting' moments in the game. let's all auto grind

    I don't even own a switch 2, bought anyway.

    • can you just use it on switch 1?

      • +1

Nope, it’s a Switch 2 exclusive game key card, so it won’t even work on Switch 1.

Cheers, grabbed one and learned I still have ebay plus somehow

BigW online and EBgames in-store also selling for $19

    • Bigw doesn't sell it. It's still eb games through their marketplace and unlike picking up in store or using eBay plus you are forced to pay for shipping

      • Yes. You are right. Happily to purchase in-store tomorrow and get some Earning Carrots from EBgames.

Top tier 3DS game, heard the Switch 2 release has some nice QoL improvements. No brainer at this price!

    • +3

It's also on steam now. Not as cheap though

Hi guys, you can also get free click and collect too. https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/nintendo-switch-2/325331-…

Also question, do you think we can pricebeat against officeworks? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/bravely-de…

    • You can but there is absolutely no stock where I live. You gotta get lucky ig

  • Kogan has it too !

  • Thanks OP, got one

  • Got 1 thank you. Now i just need to buy a switch 2 before it goes up in price

Btw this game made me rage quit on 3DS at the final boss. They drag the game out by many hours making you redo the same thing.

So by the time I reached the final boss and couldn't beat them I just put it down and started another game haha.

Having said that it's a very good game.

    • I remember the first one did the same thing. Made you fight a bunch of bosses you had already done again just for the sake of drawing out the game

      • +1

        This is that game no??

        • oh my bad. I misread it as Bravely Default 2, which I haven't played

          • @Aldonis: Oddly Bravely Default 2 is the 3rd game and is a fresh story.

Bravely Second is the sequel to Default (and IMO the best in the series), but is currently 3DS only.

            • +1

@Erwark: Just to keep everyone on their toes, the next game will somehow be Bravely Default 5.

    • I remember grinding to level 99 or something to stand even half a chance against the final boss, even then it was still pretty tough!

  • Do they just pick random English words when naming this series?

    • +1

welcome to the world of Japanese games. There are some doozies.

    • +2

The core combat revolves around braving and defaulting. You can be "Brave" to spend turns early (ie. 2, 3, 4 actions in one turn). Then you're a sitting duck while you pay back your turns. To "Default" on a turn is to defend/skip and store it up to spend later.

      • ❌ Bravely Default
        ✅ Actiony Block

    • The "Flying Fairy" subtitle is actually thematically important to the game's plot.

  • +1

This game is actually magic. The twists and reveals are so much fun. There is a bit where you redo some things but you can absolutely zoom through that if you need.

This is an absolute steal, if you've got any interest in JRPGs this won't disappoint. The characters, music, and twists are all top shelf.

  • Lol nearly bought this and realised I already had it from the last sale. Still haven't played it but sounds like I need to!

  • +1

This is very much a classic Final Fantasy game in all but name - and it nails the brief.

  • +3

With rising interest rates, I'll be bravely defaulting. But not on this game, unfortunately.
