Not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet, but something strange happening with fuel this morning.
Filled up in VIC and the numbers didn’t line up. Board showed 287.9, but final charge came out at ~218.9/L.
Asked the cashier and they mentioned there’s a one-day federal fuel relief trial (April 1) applying an automatic ~69c/L discount at the pump.
Gets better, I had a 7-Eleven Fuel Lock active, and it looks like the discount stacked on top of the locked price.
So roughly:
- Fuel Lock price: 287.9
- Govt discount: -69c
- Final paid: ~218.9
Didn’t scan anything extra, just paid as normal and it applied automatically.
Not sure if:
- VIC only
- Certain locations
- Or some kind of glitch/limited rollout
Might be worth trying today if you’ve got a Fuel Lock saved.
Enjoy!

Pretty tasteless joke given the current crisis. Your past April Fools posts have at least a hint of cleverness or absurdity, but this is just baiting people who are genuinely struggling to pay for fuel right now. Read the room.
