Apple now has refurbished Macbook Pro M5 models on their website, starting from $2159. The sweet spot is probably the 24GB/1TB M5 model at $2529. These normally sell for $2699 and up for the 16GB/512GB model.

I personally would go for the 2799 m4 pro chip MacBook Pro, go to Garry to do a price match, and they have a 10% return of gift cards.
I got mine from JB as I have some stock JB giftcards.

Hope people clearly understand that the M5 in the Macbook Pro is QUITE different to the M5 Pro in the Macbook Pro.
The M5 Pro is approx 62% faster GPU and 71% faster CPU performance, plus has Thunderbolt 5 (vs 4) and Wi-Fi 7 (vs 6e) connectivity etc.
Come to say this. My M1 Max still better at multi tasking compared to the base M5. The name "Macbook Pro" is just marketing, it only matter if the chip is Pro or Max

I would choose 24GB, but it depends on workload of course. If you start running out of memory, the Pro will start paging to disk.

For context, a year ago, I purchased on Amazon a MBA M1, 16GB, 512, was $480, so. Yes I know storage is expensive, but $1400 is a lot for 1.5TB, even today. Oh and, I had another 8GB, AND I think I have an extra GPU core so. Anyway, Nilfunds obviously understands its not great value, but if you're reading this wondering "why not?" here's a little info.
