Any particular bargain here ? I just Supercheap to price beat everything now days to be honest.

Same, I've been using them to beat autobarn and repco…
I kinda want to support the others as they are the one's offering the lower prices but they often seem to beat them by $2 - $5 from past history so it adds up!

they sold Eufy camera's and Bluetooth speakers and probably alot more I didn't bother searchng because I didn't know. I did notice they sell a lot less options for those Eufy packs though.

Have a question for the car detailing enthusiasts!

Long story short - my silver corolla has been parked in the sun for quite some time and now the paint is fading :(

I have the following (but never used):
    - Meg's Compound
    - Meg's Ultimate Liquid Polish
    - Meg's Gold Class Carnauba Paste Wax
    - Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro 1 & Done Compound
    - Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro to the Max Wax Liquid
    - Turtle Wax Hyrid Solutions - Ceramic Spray
    - Toolpro 150mm DA Polisher 720W

    Questions:
    1) I've looked around at some youtube tutorials (chrisfix) and basically I need to strip the existing wax using Morning Fresh, apply compound, liquid polish and wax (in that order). Should I just stick with the Meg's stuff or should I use some of the Turtle Wax stuff also (which is superior to what?)

    2) Which pads should I get for the DA polisher? I understand that I'll need separate pad for compound, separate for polish, separate for wax? Anything else I need?

I'd like to do this, this long weekend so any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

        Why do people do this?

I believe Carnauba wax is more to make the paint "glow", as opposed to offering "protection" (though it's worth noting that other than PPF, no wax/sealant/ceramic spray on the market protects paint from UV).

After you've stripped the paint, I'd use ceramic spray/sealant as the base layer. You can sometimes apply multiple layers (after curing), so see what the instructions say. You could also use the same spray to top up the coat, or alternatively use a regular wax to make the paint gloss "glow" - I'm too lazy to use paste wax, so I use spray wax instead.

I can't comment on polishing, as my paint is pretty thin and I'm not brave enough to try it. This is what I do once a year for my car (touchless car wash):

      1. Wash
      2. Dry
      3. Paint decontamination with iron fallout remover (Autoglym Magma)
      4. Rinse
      5. Further paint decontamination with clay bar and clay lubricant
      6. Rinse
      7. Dry
      8. Spray on sealant (Turtle Wax Ice Seal N Shine)

Then I do regular maintenance washes every month, topping off the coating with spray wax (Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax). The paint decontamination step is to make the sealant adhere to the paint better.

Just follow Chris fix and you'll be right.
Prepare for an all day thing. Ideally, in the shade. The first time is the longest as you try things out for the first time. Keep everything close and handy.

You can use the TW ceramic spray OR the waxes. Not both. Waxes come off in about 3 months. The sprays aren't much better maybe a few weeks longer.

Bowden's own has a flowchart that you can get an idea from. Print and stick to your wall so that you have a visual map of what to do next. Download links are at the bottom. It also has a good lot of information to help you understand the process better.

I've followed chris' like the gospel and have had brilliant results.

    • Definitely do NOT skip paint decon.
Paint decontamination with iron fallout remover (Autoglym Magma) like above is a cheap option, or anything from the other brands. Then you also need a clay bar or a clay towel. I've moved on to the towel, around $40 easier to deal with.
Also, the flash prep that bowden's n mothers sells, or diy isoprop mix.

Do you have a photo of the car paint that you can share?

5pm AEST must mean something else to SCA. Countdown timer is for 6pm.

    • I thought it's a me problem

      • All good to go ordered some rislone injector cleaner time to see what the fuss is about.

        • I heard years ago the only way to properly clean injectors was to remove and give a clean in ultrasonic bath w/ solvent while cycling the injector.
Curious if this stuff is snake oil or actually works.

          • @ssfps: It IS the only way to clean them. Otherwise, all those other "in tank" products are BS/Snake oil.

          • @ssfps: Can't say but this stuff also acts as a lubricant and I've seen plenty of positive feedback on OzB.

Last night my drive home from work was 11.1L/100 and tonight after a bottle it was.9.8L/100 so I'm happy so far.
