  • I just bought one of these today from Officeworks for pickup. Said there was 1 in stock at the time and then later on i get an email saying it's getting shipped from the warehouse to the store as there was no stock. What a lie that stock checker is. The order status claims that it was dispatched so it might be ok.

I'll see how it compares to the Sennheiser Momentum 4 80th Anniversary that i got yesterday from JB for the $289. So far the Momentum 4 is amazing when playing lossless audio music from Spotify Premium on the Android smartphone through the aptX HD protocol.

  • ehh, for $80 less i’d rather take a refurb deal imo..

    • Are those refurbs actually used units which were repaired?. If so why would you pay only $80 less than a brand new.

      • heard that they are just units they can’t clear for full prices, and aren’t refurb.

got one a bit back in an ebay deal and absolutely 0 damage anywhere, battery 100%, can’t see any way it was used previous, ymmv

        • I see. It was just excess stock from their warehouse they wanted to get rid of.

Well come to think of it good luck trying to find a manufacturer refurb as this is a discontinued model. I don't think you'll find.

Even the brand new units when it comes to stock status of this from Officeworks are few and far between when it comes to stock. Almost sold out. This is the cheapest that you're going to get right now as you wouldn't be able to get manufacturer refurb any more.

        • +1

My experience is different because mine was obviously used. The ear pads were new though, but there were signs of usage on the sides and some dirt on the inside of the case.

Cables were used as well because, well I can't explain it but I just know a used cable when I see/touch one. So yeah there's definitely refurb ones there. Just luck of the draw I guess.

          • @Haunt: too late now but you can do a change of mind return on ebay can’t ya… anyway, hope wasn’t to bad / unpleasant

            • @Zuelly: Yeah nah too late now, was a few months ago already. I honestly thought it was meant to be like that, didn't know most people received theirs in pristine condition and the headphone was working properly so didn't think much of it

      • I got 3 for family members from Sony Australia Ebay and they all appeared brand new with no difference from the first one I bought from TGG.

        • That's good. Pity you can't get manufacturer refurb any more being discontinued would have been a good deal. This $270 for brand new is the best we're going to get atm but even this is almost sold out nation wide at OW.

          • @hollykryten: They've still got brand new stock going for 440 on Ebay. Will probably come around eventually, just got to wait for the right time.

  • Going by the store stock checker. There seems to be very few stores nation wide showing and all of those are showing as limited stock. But that probably really means no actual real available stock and that it's just showing customer returns. Just like my local store this morning when i ordered online for pickup was showing 1 unit in stock but i found out there actually was nothing no stock and instead my order is being shipped to the store. I must have just got it in time. Their stock check system is awful and constantly lies about the stock status. Good luck with this.

  • I just used this deal to pricematch with my local jb hifi and bought my headphones instore

    • +1

You're lucky as this at OW is listed as clearance. And JB officially doesn't price match a clearance as it's listed as one of the exclusions in the price match policy. You must have got a clueless online chat support person or a sales person who put it through missing the fact of being on clearance.

      • Oh i didnt know that! Yeah the worker just refreshed the page on my phone to confirm its a current deal and said okay and matched on the spot

  • JB Hi-Fi price matched at $270 in Perth, WA.

Club with NAB $20 Goodie on purchase of $100 at JB Hi-Fi instore or online

    • The manufacturer date on the box is mentioned as 05/05/2025. So Sony still manufactures these, which means the battery should be good for many years.

      • It's now 09/04/2026 so that was 11 months ago. It's probably from the last batch of manufacturing. I don't think that Sony is still manufacturing it. It would only be the XM5 and XM6 which they are making now.

    • What did you say for the price match?
The item isn't available online and pretty much out of stock in every store, so I'd like to know what to tell them to price match

      • When I picked up it was in stock in a store of officeworks (but the instore sales person didn't even bother to check officework stock availability; Online chat checked availability and shared a link to purchase), I went in store to make use of NAB goodies offer and in there the sales person opened officework website saw cost and then price matched directly (without even checking availability).

      • Plus it's been on clearance so JB is not supposed to price match it to begin with. It literally said clearance on the OW product page. These people have been getting lucky with this price match.

        • We should be happy that they do/ did allow to purchase after all its a business that they do not want to lose.
