Etihad is having a huge sale on flights to Europe. All the cheap travel dates are in October - November/26.         Iran’s downing of Flight 752 was intentional.

        Justice Belobaba considered expert reports filed by the plaintiffs, which stated that the Iranian defendants had intentionally shot down Flight PS 752 with a view to destroying it and while knowing that it was a civilian aircraft.

            @twister292: Wrong. They are not comparable. One was a mistake, the other one was knowingly shooting your own passenger airplane to blame the US for it.

            According to the United States, Vincennes's crew misidentified the aircraft as an F-14 Tomcat, a US-made fighter jet part of the Iranian inventory, despite it transmitting civilian identification codes. They assert that Vincennes and other warships repeatedly contacted the aircraft on both civilian and military air distress frequencies, but received no response.

          Etihad's hub is Abu Dhabi. Emirates is based in Dubai (about 200km away but closer to the conflict)

        Let's keep things in perspective - the chances of you being shot down by the US or Iran or anyone else is effectively zero.

            Not zero. By not travelling you are exposing yourself to many other domestic risks such as car crash, fire, poison etc.
            These risks all exist right now whether you are aware of them or not. And each of them is a higher risk than 'death by plane being shot down'.

    This is bait. There are too many risks with buying an air ticket now and none are bigger than doing so through a third party provider. You'll get even less protection if the flight is changed and much more run around.

    If you are committed to flying in October, buy your ticket directly with the airline.

    Just had a search on Etihad site and it offered 2 nights free stay at a hotel as well.

    Also noted some of the ticket levels state no refunds, not sure how that'd go

        Because you have to pay stopover tax.

        Fee to be processed in and out of the country.

        So price is the same but the tax is higher

    Does anyone know if you can skip the free hotel option at booking and accept it later? It currently voids insurance but could be allowed by October of course.

    Edit: yep it's fine to do later, assuming there's availability obviously. Having said that I honestly don't know how it could be inserted without changing flights.
