EU stock.

I was looking to upgrade my WIFI network. I saw the Aldi deal for the H60 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/943782), which wasnt bad, but i wanted something a bit better. I started looking at Deco's, and the X50 seemed like a good product at around $300 for a 3 pack.

Upon googling it appears the Mercusys H80x is exactly the same product in a different shell. A bit more hunting and i found the H85X which is the same as H80x but with the addition of a 2.5gbps port (on 1 of the units only).

Ive just installed mine, all seems to be good. Only issue is as it from Germany the DC adapter is a European 2 pin.

Hopefully this bargain is useful to someone

Who is selling, place it in the title?

I have the H80, which is very similar. The overall coverage is terrible.
The units have to be less than about 8 metres apart to even connect well. You can't tell each satellite device which upstream device it should connect to. You can't disable band steering. The options in the setup are limited and basic. It was claimed to cover 650m², our house is around 200 and it barely manages.

We used to have a TP-Link mesh, which was replaced as it was limited to 100mbs. Its coverage was far superior to this.

I cant argue about that as mine are all hard wired. I would assume that it must be the same as the Deco's as its the same hardware.

And in regards to the upstream, i know on my previous Deco this option was enabled in a firmware update, but haven't checked on the Halo

Deco XE75 Pro lets you do "specified connection", so that you can select what it should use as upstream.

Do these have the same signal strength, or is it reduced to comply with German laws?

    • +1

It's not just about lower signal strength overall, but also the fact that some routers will not have the upper 149-165 5GHz channels available, and if they do will have reduced signal strength to comply with European Union laws.

  • I was looking to upgrade my WIFI network.

Then keep looking this isn't the solution

I had the H90X 2 pack previously. The speed and coverage were pretty good for the price, however:

    1. It kept reconnecting some devices randomly, it had issue with switching between units seamlessly. The error logs within the portal showed exactly that, broken firmware? I believe it was also discontinued, not sure about this model?
    2. The app optimization feature is sort of broken it doesn't let you see the channels afterwards, just shows as 0 all the time.

I probably wouldn't buy Mercusys again. I gave up and got the 2 pack Deco xe75pro and it's a game changer.

    • That's interesting. I have the three pack H90X and it runs perfectly. Unit one (NBN) connects via wireless to unit 2 7.5m away through one wall and a fridge in the path and then ethernet to unit 3. I can get around 750 Mbps at unit 3 (1000 NBN FTTP). I have heaps of IOT plugs etc plus numerous cameras and other gadgets. Occasionally the app says its a poor connection from Unit 1 to 2 and I rerun the Optimize function and it comes good (not that I noticed any difference). I had to add a few extenders for a few remote things like my shed and one bedroom. I have been very happy with it.

  • So what is the best "value option" for a 3 node mesh network to go in a large house these days?
