MELBOURNE is hosting an Irish party at the MCG on April 19, and the club is inviting anyone with an Irish passport to present it to the ticket windows outside Gate 3 to receive a free ticket.
Craic in at the ‘G for Jim’s Game is an acknowledgement of Club Legend Jim Stynes as well as a broader celebration of Irish culture, which will see an Irish explosion throughout the precinct.
The day will include a taste of Gaelic football in Yarra Park, dancing, Irish food and drinks, and the return of the popular ‘Jim’s Jig’ after each goal.
Born in Dublin, where he was a promising Gaelic footballer at the Ballyboden St Enda's club, Stynes made a move to Australia at the age of 18 following his county team's victory in the 1984 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship.
Going on to play 264 games for the Melbourne Football Club across 12 seasons, Stynes remains the only non-Australian-born VFL/AFL player to win the Brownlow Medal – the highest individual honour in the game.
Fans are encouraged to wear a splash of green in celebration of the Irish culture.
The Demons will be hosting reigning premiers the Brisbane Lions in this Round 6 clash.

If you're lucky enough to be Irish… you're lucky enough!
