Damn, good price. I could have used this. I've been roasting onions, and it makes them so much easier to eat because they come out soft and sweet. I can go through half a dozen onions a week now
What were you doing before? Eating them raw?

PS: yes, they freeze fine for cooking. Just slice them (thick is fine) and freezer bag them.
For perfect, no-hassle caramelized onions, slice, drop into slow cooker, top with a few dots of butter, and set to low for 10 hours (overnight).
