When I was with agl last year it felt like they increased the cost every 6 months…

    • +17

It's the same with every provider. That's why you need to switch and find the cheapest one every 6 months.

      • and get the sign up bonuses like these

  • +1

AGL don't know what they're doing, slow in every respect, don't waste your time with these Muppets.
Tried to switch to them for whatever pathetic promo they were offering and was back with Origin (retentions) before AGL could set up an account (over a week). Avoid these clowns.

    • +32

These clowns are giving $200 electricity credits though.

      • +2

Like anything though look at the rest of the plan.

        • I did. Free up 2.5 months worth of electricity for me before the next churn.

    • It was fast for me to sign up. But my issue was I got charged 2x $140 for re-energizing. Because no one was home, the distributor team/electricians had to come 3 times to reconnect the power back. First, they said no access. Second, they said no one home (I wasn't aware that I needed to and the date was incorrect on my email). Final, they came and disconnected some lines at the circuit board because a fan controller had a losing scree. I had to hire someone to fix it.

I called once but not helpful as they said charged by the distributor. Should I call the distributor to find out more?

Nah, anyone who join this will miss out all EOFY deals. Just don't.

    • +1

what EOFY deals do you expect? would it beat $200 credit and $100 gc with Westpac offer posted below? On BF last year, the best deal was $250 gc from econnex for joining AGL.

      • +1

I expect $200 credit EOFY deals from retailers that charge a LOWER actual daily usage and rates than AGL.
$200 means nothing if AGL's rate is 20% higher than others.

  • +1

I last joined AGL in November 2025.

Does anyone know how long do I have to wait before I am eligible for these free credits promotion again?

    • +2

I reckon you'd be considered a new customer. I left a few months back and came crawling back to AGL. Hope I get my $200. Then I'll leave again.

    • +3

Don't know about AGL but with Origin you can't receive any promos if you had signed up within the last 12 months i think. I don't know if it counts from sign up date or 12 months from disconnection. I'd contact AGL to be sure, wouldn't risk it otherwise.

      • Retention will usually welcome you back with a sign up bonus, even as a recent customer. Just call them and ask

  • +32

    Ends 10 Jun 2026

That means signing up early June would provide the best value if one is a churner

  • -2

Can we still get it if we are with AGL currently ?

Will be staying with them until early June 2026, Can i then claim this AGL offer?

    • It's for switching so if you're with them right now, no. You could leave and come back in June though.

      • -2

        hmm what about internet ?

is that switching mandatory too ? or can we just signup with no prior internet service (aka no connected internet before)?

  • The 30,000 bonus velocity pts was probably better..

  • +1

I wonder if this offer can stack with a SB/TCB/econnex offer?
That would make this amazing if can switch 10th June!

  • +17

You can also stack with Westpac offer and get a $100 prepaid gift card too

    • +1

geez i think i did that before for my uncles place and they never received the digital gift card

    • Does this work even if you are not a westpac customer?

      • T&Cs don't mention anything about that, so doesn't look like it

        • Yes they do… ¹Available to Westpac customers who are or who become residential AGL energy customers on the AGL Smart Saver plan in VIC, NSW, QLD and SA, where AGL operates.

          Sadly :(

          • @kudoz: Ah yes it does, sorry my 9pm skim read was terrible 😂

I wonder how they're verifying eligiblility? maybe by payment details, but I suppose you could pay your bills at the Post Office and they wouldn't be able to verify. Or it could be having that same AGL email as your Westpac email.

Regardless, just easier to set up a free Westpac account if you're after the deal

            • +1

@nicholasv: Not sure how they verify, but just checked and can create a Westpac saver account for free and get $50 credit if you deposit $50 within 10 days… plus no fees for 12 months… sooo I know what I'm doing this morning, haha!

      • If you have ever held a westpac credit card, your customer number stays with you after you cancel. So even with no westpac accounts, you still have a customer number.

    • +1

Any one know if this available for St George Customers? Edit: Yes you can.

      • Please share how to access the offer for St George customers?

        • +2

Via St George My Offers Hub. Under 'Manage my Account'>'My Offers and Benefits'.

          • +1

@Varoufakis: Thanks I did that. Turns out when you click on that landing page link, it's the same as the Wespac one above.

            • @RedShadow: @RedShadow were you able to get the offer, even by using St George customer details?

              • @mogambo: EDIT: Yes i signed up in advance for June and got a text from AGL saying that i will get $100 gift card for staying at least 30 days, even though i didn't give any Wespac or St George account details at sign-up.

    • +2

worth noting that only shows AGL smart plan,

other plans dont show there like NETFLIX, EV plan, etc.
EV plan could be 100% better for someone if they use a lot of electricity between 12am-6am (say around 600Kw) ONLY 8cents/KWhr vs typical peak/offpeak charges.

I dont think there is anything distinguishing normal electricity usage vs having an actual EV.

      • Yes true - would have to weigh up whether the $300 bonus is worth it. Could always stay on the smart plan and then switch over to EV after you meet the credit criteria

        • +2

hmm they gotta be more clear on that i guess. But yes best i think like you said, westpac + $200 bonus, then switch over that EV plan

    • Do you need to be targeted for this offer? I have westpac debit but rarely got offer

      • I only have debit card and it was in my offers. Think it said "win an ev from agl" or something. Unsure whether you even need to pay via Westpac as generally you'd direct debit anyway. Also available via phone sign up if you quote "Westpac"

      • +1

This at the bottom seems to suggest ANY Westpac customer

¹Available to Westpac customers who are or who become residential AGL energy customers on the AGL Smart Saver plan in VIC, NSW, QLD and SA, where AGL operates.

        • Yes good point. I'd say so too!

The AGL terms for the gift card (was in a pdf somewhere) are pretty generic and don't mention Westpac. So I'd say there are a few companies running this promo

  • Can also get a few phone lines for $9/month for four months.

  • +5

I am already with AGL. Can I switch it to my wife's name? So, it should be like she is moving into a new property.

    • +2

      Interested in knowing this

    • +1

      yes

    • Smart meter - most likely no fee
Basic meter - special meter read fee

  • This will help me keep the lights on while I have ladies back at my place

    • Say hello to your Grandmas for me

  • Wonder if you can transfer electricity credit to Internet if you’re fully self sufficient from solar and battery

    • +2

Nope cannot use energy credits on internet or internet credits on energy with AGL. Tried it before.

      • Can you cash them out when moving on?

        • From previous experience - no.

  • If I was an AGL customer six months ago and I'm currently with Origin, can I still get the sign-up bonus if I switch back to AGL? Thanks

    • Interested in knowing this too. Is a 'new customer' someone who hasn't been with AGL for 12 months?

      • Even within 12 months, they rarely care..

  • Odd, put my parents address in who live in NSW and it says they don't supply that area. They've had gas with AGL in the past.

  • Sounds pretty good. Thanks op

  • Looks likethey dont offer single rate plan in qld or justly my address? with higher daily supply and TOUprices $200 wont last 3 months…

  • +3

This doesn’t include the EV plans they have

    • -1

If you click I have an EV checkbox, the AGL EV Night Saver plan shows up.

      • +2

It shows up, but this deal doesn't apply

  • Joined a freaking month ago and there were no deals. That'd be right.

    • i think there was a deal a month ago for $200, i tried to take it, but origin rang me and offered me the same $200 to stay and lowered my rates going forward for 1 year

maybe you can go on chat, play dumb and pretend you were trying to take that offer and just checking it applied

      • Cheers. I can try my luck, but I specifically signed up to the cheap(er) EV rate/plan. So not sure if discount applies to that plan

  • I recently switched from AGL to another one. is there any wait time before returning to AGL?

    • FOllowing

    • I switched from AGL to Origin a week ago and today, went back to AGL; signing up for $200 credit for electricity and $200 for gas.

      • Hopefully it will track for you !

  • For anyone who's already on AGL - I spoke with online chat and asked about cancellation fees to churn to another provider, and was offered the $200 bill credit if I stay for 90 days. However I did have to switch to another plan within AGL that offer a slightly cheaper rate, so it might not be available if you're staying on the same plan

    • +1

how exactly did you phrase the cancellation fees? But also is that even a thing for electricity?

      • I just said im thinking of cancelling and asked about fees involved, they asked about the competitor rates which was slightly cheaper

  • nothin for existin customers huh

    we oughtta get churning ..

    • +2

If you churn to another provider for a few days (I did it for a week) and then go back to AGL, you'll still be able to use the credit offers.

  • I've been bombarded by offers from Kleenheat and Alinta trying to win me back.

    Be very careful when comparing

    1. The discount isn't forever, but Kleenheat never reduced it for me. I think AGL will.
    2. For AGL, the discount is on supply fee & usage, whereas for others it is for usage only
    3. There can be significant differences in the account service fee (which is on top of the supply fee). AGL: $0.0971/day, Kleenheat: $0.2718 / day
  • I think you can't cash out the credit like someone mentioned on a previous deal. A chat rep recent told me no.

  • +2

Just in case you haven't used AI to faciliate a comparison. Here is the prompt you can use.

I want to compare energy plans and check if it's worth switching.

My old plan - daily charge is $1.66 and usage rate is $0.353/kwh.
The new plan - daily charge is $1.05 and usage rate is $0.422/kwh. The new plan offers $200 credit.

My average daily kwh use is 10kwh.

    • The dang data center gonna compete with me in electricity and water anyway. 30 in the pipeline fast approval, no public consultation needed😭🤦‍♂️

      • that's why Albo offering you cheap batteries.
And you're in Victoria, it's always raining, get a tank.
Plus the white elephant desal plant.

    • $1.66 deaily charge is a no; $0.422/kwh is a no. Full stop.

  • $107/m for the 500 speed is not cheap. $200 credit can cover 2 months. It's deal to me if no other loopholes.

When will they have 3-free-hour window?

  • Anyone know if I can switch to the Night Saver EV plan once credit is applied to my account?

  • Does anyone know if this credit still applies if the local area is run by Endeavour? When I put my address in it seems to imply that the credit is available however under plan conditions it says credit its limited to "where AGL operates", I assume this does not include a third party provider?

  • So, can I still get the credit if I switch on 10th June and stay for 20 days till 30th June?
