Decent looking mug from Thermos. I prefer simple lids - don't really trust them sipper ones, leaky, too fragile, and difficult to clean properly.

The cup not keeping the liquid warm or cold without the lid is due to thermodynamics, not the cup. If you can somehow invent an open container without a heating element that can maintain the temperature of a liquid for a long period of time you'll have a very successful and physics defying product.

Lol 6 downvotes by people that enjoy a cup with a LID.
JFC what weirdos.

@eddyah: More like downvoted by people who realise that evaporative cooling of hot liquids can be solved with a… lid.

@rumblytangara: It's also solved by eating/drinking the thing you want warm quickly enough.
If you wanna re-heat it there's an invention called a microwave.
This lid on a cup is so dumb as it won't protect the contents inside if you bump or knock over the cup.
For context, I have this for my coffee every morning to keep the heat for as long as possible.
No need for the lesson in thermodynamics, it our house we don't obey those laws.

This is not a travel mug - it's a loose-fitting lid that simply protects the contents of the cup from dust. No rubber seals or anything of that sort. The chances of spilling are identical to using a regular cup.

Thanks for the clarification.

The recommended uses for product is only limited to water as it doesn't use food grade 304 stainless steel.

No coffee?

I've found that using SS for coffee ends up making the coffee taste weird. It shouldn't but it does.

The Kathmandu 350ml Vacuum Insulated Mug with Lid is made with a food grade stainless steel body and is now half price at $14.95.

Where does it say it’s not food grade?

Gotta say, I'm curious about this as well. I'd assume all stainless steel cups are 304 at the bare minimum.

The 10 second search that I did said it was 304.

@mapax: This site says it's 18/8, which is basically the same as 304.

Have you have this? Convenient to drink? How long does it keep warm for you?

No I don't have one. The one I am using that is not suitable for juice, coffee or soda etc. So I suggest to buy those with the right material.

Hang on, so you would recommend a totally unknown brand on Amazon, made up of randomly jumbled capital letters "UZMIS" over Thermos- a Japanese company, which is over a century old has been making insulated food contains for longer than most of us have been alive?
If you could back up your claim with something more credible than hand waving, that would be great.

@rumblytangara: I think you’re leaning a bit too heavily on brand history as if it automatically guarantees superiority. Yes, Thermos has been around for over a century, but longevity alone doesn’t make every product they produce the best option today.
If that were the case, newer brands would never gain traction, which clearly isn’t how markets work. In Australia alone, brands like MG, GWM, and BYD have overtaken or outperformed legacy players like Ford and Holden in key segments. That didn’t happen by accident. Dismissing a product purely because the brand name looks unfamiliar isn’t really a strong argument, it just suggests you’re relying on recognition rather than actual evaluation. In today’s market, newer brands can and do compete on quality, price, and innovation. So instead of assuming something is inferior because you haven’t heard of it, it might be more useful to look at how it actually performs.

Why not a Yeti?

They're double the price.

The lid on that one screws on. How leak proof is the flip up cap? If it fell on its side in a bag would it leak?

I have a Camelbak with a lid - although I mainly use it without. When I do use the lid I often end up burning my top lip - it keeps the drink hot for ages. Without the lid it stays hot for a reasonable amount of time.
They're more expensive though: Camelbak Mug but the price varies quite a bit and the other colours can be cheaper.

That's why I prefer simpler lids. Sipper lids are fairly impractical and don't really make sense unless you plan to travel with your mug, and even then you'd still run the risk of the lid falling off or opening up and leaking or burning yourself if the contents are too hot. If you want to travel with a hot drink it's much safer to use a proper Thermos with a lid you can flip over and use as a cup.

Yeti magnetic zipper lids are brilliant imo. use it every day at work. it usually stays on after a normal fall to a concrete floor.
I only remember one time, when I left the cup on the roof of the car that it fell on the road and lid came off.
Looked it up and the first Reddit thread I came across were people complaining about the magnetic sliding bit falling off 😅

@anonym: the way I read it , most seem to be happy with the feature to be able to easily clean it?!
the fall has to be very significant for the magnetic bit to fall off.
This has never happened to me, and I've dropped the cup on the concrete floor a few times.
Even when I left the cup on the roof of the car, I drove back and found the cup scratched up on the side of the road, the lid had popped off but the magnetic bit was still attached.
still using that cup daily.

If it can survive that level of abuse I'd say it's well worth it 😂

Can this store petrol?

In a cup with a loose lid…? You've got to be joking right?

No he’s 100% serious. He’s actually a gas guzzling car that can type.
Edit: hybrid. That’s why he only sips fuel.

cuz ur a paperclip
