    Received the email too

the new seller plans come into effect following the expiry of this deal (28th)

  • Finally got this one. Signed up for one month eBay plus last month for the free sale but didn't get it but was able to accept this one even though eBay plus expired yesterday.

    • mine state ebay plus, probably you wont receive the fee rebate, happened to me before, had to complain to the CS to get fee waived.

      • Is it? I accepted and it shows on my eBay account. Maybe I should sign up for another month of eBay plus?

    Targeted

    • +2

Yep, targeted. I never receive eBay seller promotions.

      • I never receive them either even though i'm signed up. I only find them on ozbargain and it works 90% of the time. The only thing ebay sends me is irrelevant ads for products i'm not interested in twice a day.

    • +2

You're on eBay Plus and you can't accept it?

      • +1

        Yes to both

  • +2

So what fees do you pay then? Last time i sold on there it was stupidly expensive.

  • how does this deal compare to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/953592?

    • +9

that deal charges the buyer, this deal doesn't charge either buyer or seller in extra fees

  • +3

This might be the last one before they move to the new model.

I do wonder if they will in the future provide "buyer protection fee free" promotions.

    • +3

I wonder what new offers they will give ebay plus members once the new system is in place? The only reason I keep ebay plus now is for these selling offers.

No thanks, I'm avoiding ebay as death, as a seller you have ZERO protection from SH buyers. You can literally buy an item, use it, abuse it, F IT! for up to 60 days and without any credible, valid reason return it and get full refund back, no questions asked.

While the seller gets back whatever you returned and loses ALL the money from the sale, having to issue a FULL refund 🤣

    • I have 100 positive ebay seller account and I had to deal with this pesky buyer who claims a genuine only opened samsung wireless charger I had sold him wasnt working. I asked for evidence on how he was actually charging it and then he started talking about how educated his family was. lol. I can't. Other than that thank goodness no more bad buyer. I had his false feedback removed and still got my money.

      • Ive sold a brand new S25 Ultra, buyer used it for almost 2 months and returned it back saying there's a problem with it because he couldn't connect android auto to his 3rd party in car system running prehistoric android auto version. Ebay was telling me all the time that there's nothing to worry i won't lose anything and I had to give back full refund and received a 2 months used phone and i couldn't do absolutely anything at all.

Thank GOD from all the calls I made to ebay one nice lady helped me out how I can legally force ebay to give me a full refund and I managed to, if it wasn't for her I'd be out of money and a phone that I don't know what to do with now. I didn't want to sell it to someone else out of fear to burn someone's house down as I have no idea what the maniac did with it previously, used, abused, opened, swapped parts, who knows.

        • I've sold a lot of camera and audio gear ranging up to $5000+ and thankfully have never had any issues with anything expensive.

The only bad buyer I've had forced a return on a $180 headphone amp that he said wasn't working. It was working perfectly when I got it back. I'm not sure if he was just an idiot who couldn't work it out or he just changed his mind and lied.

  • I have eBay plus and took advantage of the previous reduced fees deal last month. Maybe that's why I can't use it again

    • Same - I can’t accept this one either

      • +2

I thought I was out, but if you follow the deal link, sign in, then click the RSVP button, this worked for me.

    • I had last month's offer and this one.

    • Nope. I got the promotion last month and got this promotion again this month.

  • So this applies to existing listings? No need to delete and relist?

    • +2

      T&C states newly listed

      newly listed on eBay.com.au during the Promotion Period (i.e. it cannot be a relisted item through ‘Good ‘til Cancelled (GTC) or auto-renewal);

      • oh. missed that. thanks!

  • Activated in March had 3 items nothing sold price was ok not high. EBay is rubbish now not enough audience no wonder private casual sellers don't use it much these days with so much fees

    I cancelled everything delisted

    • +2

Again there are no realistic alternatives in this country. Maybe a bigger country but not here.

Ebay would prefer that you see everything you sell as disposable and not worth any value whilst they want the buyers to pay a higher price for the same goods

      • Nah I can't be bother selling at all in this platform even if free. Cause there's no traffic and people only want to pay peanuts. I rather keep collectables myself

    • +1

I sold only one $800 retail price item and after 5 days got a bid of $400, and then with 5 hours left the bidder cancelled and it went to $120 so I tried to cancel but I couldn’t, but luckily in the last 2 minutes it got bid to $620. Pretty happy in the end but that was frustrating. Not sure I will do it again.

      • +1

It's not wise to list things with a starting bid under what you're happy to accept.

        • +1

I just start everything at $1 and it seems to work out just fine 🤷

  • Not available for my account it sys. Targeted.

  • Cheers OP no email received but managed to accept the offer via the link.

  • I thought that eBay was getting rid of selling fees permanently?

    • That's what the email I got recently looked like — unless you're a high volume seller.

      I hope that's the case.

    • they are changing the fee structure, it will be less than the 12% before but not free.

  • +1

Received this deal. Will probably be the last one before the stupid "No Selling Fee" kicks in.

    • +1

What's so stupid about the new system? It seems too good to be true so I won't be surprised if there's a catch.

Edit: I just had a better read through of the new stuff and the Buyer Protection Fee stuff looks like it sucks, but selling should be a bit better overall. It won't be nearly as good as these 'no final value fee' listings though.

  • This line: This promotion only applies to the variable fees on the Eligible Listing that is sold prior to the listing renewal, whether by auto-renewal or because the listing is GTC. After this, standard eBay fees will apply.

Does it mean if I make a sale past 27th April I will pay $0 fvf, as long as the listing does not auto-renew?

  • I accepted it, made a new listing, made a sale, eBay's says I'm above standard level performance and still got charged a fee, mobile phone category, fixed price. It's still showing me in the account as I haven't used any of the 3 promo sales.

    Says:

Save big on your next sale*
    7 Apr - 27 Apr
    Remaining 3

    Glitch or it's normal? 🤷

I just hope it's not gonna be like one of times in the past, they've harassed me how, when, where did I, personally, get the promo and clicked it. They were playing dumb how, because I got to the deal from an outside link (from ozbargain) that it's not valid. That I need to prove I had an email invitation or a clickable offer on the app/website etc.

I had such endless argument. I was saying well if I'm NOT eligible why did the system them let me ACCEPT the offer? Approved it and showed (as now) that it's active and valid???

God i hope it's not this SH! again.

  • Maybe ebay noticed lot of small plus seller end the listing for the new fee structure, so is encouraging casual sellers to relist some items.

I have ebay Plus and got this offer in March and again just now for April when I clicked the ozbargain link

I list about 5 to 10 items, every few months until it sells as fixed items.

One thing I did differently this time was, after selling the three items fee free I ended all the other active listings (normally I let them run until sold even with fees). I was going to relist them after ebay goes going fee free.

  • Wasn’t eBay moving to a free selling model?

  • Wondering if it's worth relisting, or just wait for 'fee free'. I assume existing listings will remain as posted, but new 'fee' added?

  • Just sold an item and got charged full fee. It was frustrating chatting with CS named Crisanto going around in circle and made things up as they go along but to cut it short, finally their reason it was a Relist so did not qualify. I told them I chose "Sell Similar" from another item that was ended earlier. Then they said Sell Similar is the same as Relist citing their T&Cs of the promotion. I said I have done this in the past and did not have issue. I asked where in the T&C or FAQ that said so, this person then said they have resolved my question and disconnected me. MF.

    • The exact same thing just happened to me. I assume it was because I did a "sell similar" on a item I had already sold before.
I guess they added an extra check on the "sell similar" item to see if you had already sold the item before.

    • I sold an item an hour ago and got charged as well, but I didn't use the Relist or "Sell Similar" functions - it was a listing that I created from scratch an hour after accepting the offer. Dealing with CS now. A little frustrating, I've never had this issue in the past.

EDIT: The explanation given was a "timing difference" - which I take to mean that I listed the items too soon after accepting the offer, even though I waited over an hour. They've refunded me the fee, and they've told me to pull down the other active listings and manually re-list them, so the same thing doesn't happen again this month.

      • That timing reason is a new kind of made up bullshit.
The acceptance button for the promo shows the time down to the second and offers a link to 'start selling' immediately

        • +1

No doubt, but this is eBay we’re talking about - could the bar be lower? I’m just glad they refunded the fee.

    • Same reason I was given for last months offer. They conceded after some arm twisting and refunded me but still blamed me for not understanding the t&cs

    • Same just happened to me. Looks like "sell similar" = "relist" for these promos now. I was told I need to start new draft listing to qualify.
Anyhow, they did refund the fees as a once off - so I didn't bother to argue.

  • I sold 2 items and charged fee on both. Both new listings. I haven't posted them yet as I'm waiting for ebay to resolve the issue since Wednesday.

They were supposed to have it resolved within 24-48 hours, they haven't, contact me back, they haven't, i had to call and chase them up etc.

Apparently they're experiencing technical difficulties with fees etc. We'll see on Monday if ebay in some other universe far far away can find for THEM a suitable solution.

  • +3

Lots of issues with this promotion. Had a similar issue despite using "sell similar item" option.

Got credited back manually through chat.

    My script below:

    1) accepted promotion
    2) selling a similar item and clicked on sell similar [not the Relist option]
    3) followed the rules of the promotion
    4) Please talk to your supervisor regarding manual credit.

If you have been on ebay for a while, just tell them you have paid lots of ebay fees before so feels unfair this promotion isn't being honoured.

    Good luck.

    • Thanks heaps, will see on monday what they say and take your advice : )

    • +1

also, if you get manual credit, it doesnt use up one of the three!

      :D

  • +1

Sold three items, one free, two fees. Was careful to list as new items, not relists.
Looks like this promo is very glitchy

  • Sold one today and it was listed the same way I've always listed during these promos and I've been charged a fee as well.

Update: Put up another listing for the same item via listing templates as opposed to using sell similar and asked the buyer to re-purchase and it looks like the promo has been applied correctly this time.

    • +1

yep, I did that afterwards and it was applied correctly as well.

Looks like we just have to use "new listing" option to be on the safe side.

    • +1

Doesn't cancelling a item negatively affect your eBay record?

      • How so?

Edit: Apparently yes although shouldn't really impact casual sellers unless it's a regular occurrence by the sounds of it.

A seller can cancel an order if:

The buyer hasn't paid within the time allowed.
The buyer used the wrong delivery address at checkout.
The item is out of stock (this will result in a transaction defect).

Cancelling an order because the item is out of stock will result in a transaction defect, as sellers are responsible for fulfilling the items they've sold.

  • +1

I didn't receive an offer email but just clicked the RSVP link on the deal page and have 3x fee free listings activated.

Thank you for posting this offer to OzBargain as not all eligible people are receiving it.

  • +1

Be careful with this promo. All my listings were selected "sill similiar" as I always do, and I have been charged FVF on my sales.

Chat tried to tell me they will escalate it with their team and get back to you within 48 hours. Stand firm and ask for the fee credit while on that chat. They can do it.

    • Scum-BS are spinning me in circles since last Wednesday playing stupid how they can't do anything and how it's been escalated over and over again to some department and how they're waiting for an answer, can't do anything etc.

Excuses how they're having issues with the system not applying promo, how my sold items are high value items and they cat credit me the fees, they need to do more investigation into this etc

And they tell me to just post the item, not to worry etc. I said I'm not gifting you $560 in fees, no way. I'm a long time seller on ebay, for 14 years, sold hundreds of high value items paid thousands in fees and I know very well how to post an item correctly without any any issues or conditions unfulfilled for no final value fees.

I'm not surprised they're turning to permanently no final value fees as i belive many, many people have been complaining about them, filed legally against them etc. I'm not surprised.

  • +1

I just sold an item through best offer. I created a new listing and was still charged FVF. Ebay are scammers.

  • Just sold an item and the promo was applied. There appears to be a promo display error right now.

    • Listed 2 days ago
    • Used sell similar, new item, new photos
