I find the hotel prices they show once you get directed from a cashback site to be higher than their google-directed prices. Whether that's offset by the cashback is something else.

+1, booking went from 149 to 170, not worth it at all. Shady as from Booking.com
Trip is way better the prices stay the same

      Yeah/Nah.
I don't deny that Booking.com uses sly tactics like that but I have used their sister company Agoda many times using cashback click through. Of course I check prices independently of cashback to make the comparison and more often than not, the price stays the same.
I always find booking.com to be among the more expensive OTA's so typically avoid anyhow.

    • Could be due to removal of genius discounts when cashback links are detected.

Not defending the practice, but just something I've noticed and dislike

I made the mistake of using booking.com with my westpac credit card. Paid for Australian accomodation in AUD. Comes up as a foreign transaction with a 3$ fee. Beware.

    • Agoda also charges (an often undisclosed at the time of making payment) a foreign exchange fee.

      • Is this a change in recent months? Neither charged a foreign fee a year or two ago but I did notice Booking.com do it now. Agoda didn’t charge me that last week.

        • Perhaps you were lucky. I was caught by Agoda about 18 months ago.

Yesterday I was getting a better booking fare in the app than in the website, connected with the same account and everything.

normal search $97 book through shopback $113…where is the saving?

  • Always unsure when using this, does it track if i decide to book now and pay later?

    • +1

      It should track as usual

  • +5

Prices are increased when I click through the commission link via ShopBack.
Not really a saving. Don't be fooled!

Isn’t it ‘up to’ 12% and for travel deals? Booking shows as 10% for me (and on the amount before taxes and fees).
