Got anything over 3kw for the Vic rebate?

    https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/victorian-energy-upgrades/prod…

    • +1

Hey Mate, we do stock the G series Hisense units which are a part of the VEU rebate as well as other brands. For anything rebate related please contact our sister company NCG Air on 1300 993 998 or fill out the online form for one of the staff to contact you for an all-inclusive supply and installation quote https://www.ncgair.com.au/request-a-quote/ . We are an approved VEU company

      • Thanks - and what's a typical install price these days for a ground floor where the indoor unit is about 2-3m from the outdoor unit?

        • +1

Depends on the company, Prices vary across the industry. Generally, at the moment I am seeing an ''Average'' of $900 for a back-to-back installation, depending on the complexity.

      • Is your sister company handling the Vic rebate for Gas heater household?

        • Yes, our sister company is handling the Victorian gas heater rebate side of things 👍

They’re fully VEU (Victorian Energy Upgrades) accredited, please contact our sister company NCG Air on 1300 993 998 or fill out the online form for an installation quote https://www.ncgair.com.au/request-a-quote/

How much is install for these units?

    • depends on the electrician shop around

      • Hi. Do you guys also do installation on this if I bought from you? What’s the average cost? Thanks.

  • does this unit have no remote? what makes this unit so much cheaper than the mitsubishi unit on offer? thanks!

    • It does have a remote, you can also use wifi to control it via your phone if you wish. Mitsubishi is known to be expensive.

    • +2

Yep – it definitely comes with a remote.
All Hisense J Series splits (including this one) include a wireless remote in the box as standard, so you’re good to go straight out of the box

As for the price difference vs Mitsubishi:

👉 Brand positioning – Mitsubishi is a premium brand, Hisense is more budget-friendly
👉 Build & components – Mitsubishi units generally use higher-end internals and are built for longer lifespan
👉 Noise & efficiency – Mitsubishi is typically quieter and slightly more refined
👉 Price vs value – Hisense keeps things simple and offers solid performance for the price

At the end of the day, the Hisense is a great bang-for-buck unit for bedrooms or smaller spaces, whereas Mitsubishi is more of a “pay more for top-tier reliability and refinement” option.

  • This is a cracking price, I've got 1 installed last year and been happy with it. Too bad I've already got all my rooms covered now…

    • Love to hear it mate 🙌

They’re a solid little unit for the money hey – perfect for bedrooms and small spaces. Sounds like you’ve already done the whole house the smart way 😅

If you’ve got any mates or family still sweating it out, send them this way… only a handful left 👍

    • How much was install per unit?

  • A reminder to read and follow our title guidelines. In particular, the basic requirements to include the name of the store and prefix the title with the state of sale (i.e. [VIC]). You can find the edit button on the submenu located between the deal title and your user name.

    • +1

No worries, thanks for the heads up 👍

I’ve only just jumped onto Oz Bargain properly so still learning the ropes — points noted and I’ll make sure to follow the title guidelines going forward.

  • Oof… $561 for a 2.5kW splitty? That’s actually kinda spicy 🔥❄️

Hisense isn’t top-tier like Daikin or Mitsubishi, but for a bedroom or small office this is solid bang-for-buck. If you just want cold air without selling a kidney to the power company, this does the job 💸➡️❄️

    BUT… let’s talk reality for a sec 👀
    📍 VIC-only pickup?
    📦 12 units?
⏳ Blink and it’s gone energy

Meanwhile the rest of us outside VIC:
👁️👄👁️ watching from the sidelines like it’s a private party we weren’t invited to.

Shoutout to anyone in other states refreshing deals knowing full well we’re not driving to Clyde North for an aircon 😅🚗💀

Still… if you’re local, this is one of those “don’t overthink it” buys. Lock it in, organise install later, and enjoy not sweating through summer 👍

    For everyone else:
    Back to hunting 🕵️‍♂️💻

    • Appreciate that mate, you’ve pretty much nailed it.

We’re actively working on building up HVACZone so we can roll these kinds of deals out nationally, not just VIC. At the moment though, the reality is freight kills it. Getting units from Victoria to other states adds that much cost that it wipes out the savings completely.

Last thing we want to do is advertise a “deal” that ends up costing the same (or more) once transport is added, doesn’t sit right with us.

For now it’s VIC-only while we build the volume and logistics to make it viable interstate. Hopefully won’t be too far off 👍

This is the remainder stock from lasts week deal, hence the great discount

      Side Note -
Purchasers are more than welcome to organise own transport to access this deal, we can provide dimensions and weight!

      • Do you know if you're installed would install in Ballarat?

        • +1

Unfortunately our sister company does not travel out to Ballarat

    • +1

      Is this AI?

      • Bugger. What gave it away? 🤖👀

        • @oldbugger it's obvious - but curious what was the original text you used, also how much editing did you do after?

          • +1

@db2k: Haha nah, I wasn’t trying to hide it at all 😄
Just having a bit of a laugh since the OP clearly ran theirs through AI too 🤖
Didn’t really edit it at all — that was kinda the point 👍

            • @OldBugger: its what all the cool kids are doing … gotta keep up 🥲

    • Summers over. It’ll be December before Ull need one. Plenty time to shop around if u missed out

      • I live in a fibro house lol, nearly every day is either too hot or too cold!

  • So good to see Trade shops offer good deals on aircons over big box stores. Picked up 3 Haier ones in Sydney. Had them all install no issues despite being "Chinese", are they louder than Mitsubishi? I think they are quieter, maybe because they are new. Also if your house is insulated you are not going to hear it inside anyways plus the 5 Year warranty. I understand the premium that the Japanese top tier air-con offers but in reality its a residential unit. People are willing to buy a 3k TCL Tv yet overlook at Chinese made Aircon.

OP maybe in future price the Trunking Coils isolator as well so people can pick up the other bits and pieces and have their installer install it reduce that "Dodgy Mark up"

    • @George Washington

      Thanks for the feedback!

These J Model Units come with a 7 Year Warranty from the manufacturer

We stock all these items in-store, and they’re also on our website: https://hvaczone.com.au/collections/installation-accessories

Wholesale rates for items like trunking and wall brackets are available online at competitive prices.

I had thought about putting a package deal together, but it didn’t get much interest last time, happy to hear any ideas on what would make it more appealing and what specials they want to see with particular brands or specific Kws ie. 3.5kw etc

      • Not sure tbh, I am no expert in air-cons.. or tradie stuff but i noticed alot of Oz bargainers want a bargain. I've always wanted a bargain air-con when i am looking sub 550 2.5k for heating and cooling.

Ive noticed as well with aircons there is that post or thread about, how do i get my aircon installed for cheap. Isnt the practice ring 3 tradies up send pics ask for a quote?

Who knows maybe could be a business idea for you when u get a bargain aircon, ask a tradie that buys alot from you to do a rough price estimate? Who knows.

There are alot of variations when installing aircons. I've had it range from 500 to 1.3k. I guess people need to feel comfortable about the price.

        • +1

          @George Washington

I always tell people, get at least 3 quotes and actually compare them properly. Make sure they’re detailed and cover everything so there’s no surprises later.

          A good installer will usually:
          • Come out and inspect the job
          • Provide a clear written quote
          • Include everything upfront (no hidden extras)

If you’re seeing big price swings, it’s often because something’s been left out or assumptions are being made.

Also worth checking Google reviews and past work, that tells you more than price ever will.

Rule of thumb: 3 quotes, compare apples with apples… and don’t just jump on the cheapest. That’s usually where people get burned.

  • How hard are these to self install and book a sparky to connect? Are they pre charged, how long is the hose?

    • +1

Thanks for your question. It is highly recommended to not install yourself, as it can void the manufacturer’s warranty. A qualified/certified installer is required for proper installation and required to provide the relevant compliance certificates in Australia in order for your warranty and consumer guarantees to be valid.

      • +1

        So it's pretty easy huh?

        • +1

Put it this way if the conduit leaks, into the isolator outside which i have had, and you can prove it wasnt you who installed it with a reciept. Then warranty kicks in.

If your wire is kinked, and you pinch the insulator which you dont see and it looks good which leads to an arc and frys the inside or outside unit and burns down your house. Whos at fault?

I had my inlaws installed the 2 weeks ago. It is not simple as it is, the sparky had to call me and tell me he couldnt run it off the 2.5 powerpoint circuit because there are too many GPOs on that circuit. He suggested to piggy back off the Front and back outdoor powerpoint circuit.

Also I had one installed professionally first time round and it wasnt levelled, leading water to stagnate in the outdoor unit leading to premature rust after 3 years. I was lucky i still had the reciept and Panasonic was kind enough to warranty it.

        • +1

Not easy, but possible. I've done it. You'll need at minimum a vacuum pump ($150), hoses ($50), enough line to do the job ($50), flare tool ($50), and a torque wrench with an open spanner ($50), mounting equipment ($30)

If you make a mistake with the installation, you may not know immediately. A slow leak could cause failure in a year or two. These newer units run at higher pressure than older units. Also, a bad install can kill the efficiency.

In terms of difficulty I'd put it about the same as a head gasket job on a car engine.

    • +1

If you flare your coil wrong, don't have the proper tools to test. You risk releasing refrigerant into the air, which in itself is pollution but more importantly the refrigerant will cost an arm and a leg to refill. If you don't own a vacuum pump, you risk not vacuuming the coils fully. If air exists in there, you risk damaging the compressor and other components because of moisture. You also get reduced cooling/heating and efficiency. I had the bare minimum tools to install mine, I had success with 5/6 Minisplits I did. I used an analogue manifold gauge for basic tests, but it wasn't as good as digital to verify deeper tests. I also didn't have nitrogen to vac test with. Once I released the refrigerant, I did a bubble test with a spray and that's how I found the leak. It was a big leak cause of a bad flare, so I had to close the refrigerant valve in the compressor so air doesn't get in and let the rest evac out then reflare and retest.

I'm genuinely grateful for the replies. I had no idea it was so difficult. Does anyone have any installer recommendations that service Phillip Island in Victoria?

  • Anyone in WA that can offer these sort of pricing?

  • Can you do click and collect at your Oakleigh store or is it Clyde North only?

    • Hey @brifog, Unfortunately this one was just from Clyde as it was run out stock from a previous deal. We hope to do another soon!

  • If I have 3 Bedrooms all in a row all backing onto the same external wall. Would it better to install:
    - 3 x individual units, like the affordable model advertised here.
    Or
    - 1 X Multi Head Split system (3 indoor, 1 outdoor unit)

I've heard it might be better all round to go 3 individual units but I'm not entirely sure just yet. Especially if there is ample room for the external units on the external wall.

    • Also trying to decide on this!

    • I had a similar situation to this but only with 2 bedrooms and decided on the multi-split in the end, only because it was less intrusive visually and the side alleyway of my house is relatively tight. But if I had the space and everything was more spaced apart then I probably would have done 3 single units as single units work out to be approximately the same price. You don't save that much on electricity either as I had to size up for a Multi-Head to accomodate for both rooms being heated/cooled and the Multi-splits themselves are pretty expensive compared to a single split. So future replacement costs would be alot cheaper with a single unit.

    • I don't see the point of multihead systems. They might be slightly cheaper when installation is considered, but not by much. Seems like space taken up by the outdoor unit is the main consideration

    • +1

      @itsTricky83 @Benmc @SevenSmurfs

Good question, this comes up a lot.

      A few things to consider:

Cost: In many cases, a multi-head works out more expensive both to buy and install. You’ve got a larger outdoor unit and all pipework has to run back to that one unit (often through the roof), which adds labour and materials.
Installation simplicity: With 3 individual systems on the same wall (back to back), installs are usually more straightforward and quicker.
Reliability: Big one here, if a multi-head outdoor unit has an issue, all 3 rooms go down. With individual splits, only the affected room is out, the others keep running.
Performance: Individual systems generally perform better per room (no shared capacity).

If you’ve got the space for 3 outdoor units, most installers would lean toward 3 separate systems for better value, flexibility, and reliability 👍

      • Awesome, thank you for your thoughts.
Your time and consideration to respond to the OzB communities questions here goes a long way.
Do you happen to have any partner business in Tasmania (Hobart area)?

        • +1

          You’re more than welcome!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a partner in Hobart at the moment.

We are aiming for an Australia-wide rollout in the future, but our focus right now is on delivering:

          Great value
          Excellent service
          Genuine support for our customers

Ultimately, our growth relies on customers like you, your support makes our success possible!

  • Are these easy to install?

    • Relatively. You'll need a vacuum pump from AliExpress.

The risk is if you don't do it 100% perfectly, you're SOL. And getting someone out to fix and regas will negate any savings you'd get from DIY.

You also need a license to do this work, without a receipt from a licensed installer you won't get any warranty support

  • Hey Oz Bargainers,

We had a great response to this deal and are trying to gauge demand for these types of offers. Once we get more stock, would people be interested if we ran another one?

I am in the process of ordering more

Would love to hear your thoughts!

    Do you want -
    Different capacity?
    Same Deal on the 2.5kW?

    • I’ve been recommended to get Daikin zena 2.5kw. Looking to fit them in 3 bedrooms. How do they compare to these? Or do you have comparable models?

      • +1

The Daikin Zena units are a really nice option if you’re chasing that architectural look. Slimline, premium finish, and built-in Wi-Fi as standard

We do stock the Zena range, but just to give you a fair comparison:

We also carry similar “designer” units in the Mitsubishi Electric lineup:

EF Series (black / white / silver finishes) https://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/product/msz-ef-series-…
LN Series (premium range, more features) https://www.mitsubishielectric.com.au/product/msz-ln25-35-50…

Both Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric are top-tier brands in terms of reliability, performance, and resale value, you really can’t go wrong with either. The main difference at that level usually comes down to:

        Aesthetics (Zena vs EF/LN styling)
Feature preference (airflow tech, sensors, filtration)
Price, these designer models sit at the higher end

If you're just doing bedrooms, you could also look at stepping down to a more standard wall split and save a fair bit without losing much performance.

If you want, flick me an email at Sales@hvaczone.com.au
        and I can price up:

        Zena vs Mitsubishi EF/LN

Or give you a couple of more budget-friendly options to compare, always happy to help👍

    • Would be good to get some deals on VEU qualifying models.

      • @brigof

Good shout 👍 VEU deals are definitely something we’re looking at rolling out.

The tricky part is the rebate isn’t brand-based, it’s tied to specific models being listed on the official VEU register, and that list updates constantly. So we’ve got to make sure every unit + combination ticks all the boxes before we can advertise it properly.

We do have access to a range of VEU-eligible units (Mitsubishi Heavy, Panasonic, Midea etc.), including common wall splits and multi-heads that qualify, just a matter of locking in consistent stock and pricing to make it OzBargain-worthy.

If there’s enough interest, we can definitely put together:

        VEU-approved split system deals
Multi-head packages (these usually get solid rebates)
        Potential install + rebate bundles

Keen to hear, are people more interested in single splits for bedrooms or whole home/multi-head setups?

        • +1

Fair enough, I'd personally be more interested in split system deals with packaged install and VEU rebate.

          • @brifog: I’ve got two deals coming up very soon, one dropping shortly and another on Monday

Both are next week’s deals on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries units, listed on the VEU register 👍

            • @HVACZone: Looking forward to it! Does your sister company NCG air honour these pricing? Currently waiting to hear back on a quote with VEU rebate and installation.

              • +1

@brifog: Pricing can vary a bit between us and NCG Air depending on stock and supply 👍

The deals we post through HVACZone are direct supply specials from our warehouse, whereas if NCG Air are quoting VEU supply + install, the units and pricing are coming through their side as a full package.

So same brands/models sometimes, but structured differently depending on whether it’s supply-only vs supply & install with rebate.

  • Back by popular demand!

We’ve removed the expiry and restocked, and we’re still honouring the original deal price.

Only 10 units available, ready for immediate supply.

If you need a bulk amount I can order in and will honour price

    Cheers

    The Team @ HVACZone
